  1. @butterthebean You're absolutely correct!!!! I did this to be healthier. I am trying every day to figure things out, but very happy about my decision. I will think positively about my Moms surgery next month.
  2. So...I've been working toward my surgery since early last year. My Mom has always been against it. Over the last few months, as I hurried to get my last few appointments finished for insurance authorization, she's had a change of heart. Also, I've been showing her several people's before and after pictures. Well two months ago, she lied to me. She said she went to my surgeon's monthly seminar to learn more about my procedure. I found out a couple weeks ago, she is now almost finished with her appointments for her insurance authorization. I was proud of her. My Mom has been heavy all of her life, has high blood pressure and just recently found out she has severe sleep apnea. Today, I told my boyfriend about my Mom's plans for surgery next month and he flipped. He told me that he along with all of our family (including my Mom's and mine) and friends have always thought my Mom to be jealous of me. I told him she didn't want anyone to know about her surgery and he yelled 'because she is stealing your shine.' I just had surgery on the 12th, and now after talking to him, I can't shake the fact that my Mom can't handle the fact that she will now be the only larger person in our family. Am I wrong for feeling this way? I feel like I should be happy for her. Please help....
  3. @Jessica9091 Your husband sounds like my boyfriend minus the weight. I'm actually with someone who's underweight, but he was an alcoholic for several years, so I supported him through his time of need, as I still do. I honestly think he may need counseling. I also work for a big corp. My boss knew about my surgery. I was terrified to tell her, but I felt so much better after I did. My problem is with 2 other chicks. I don't understand why they still have a job. It can be so unprofessional at times. I always turn to food for comfort too, but I haven't been able to do that lately, so I'm always out and walking around. It seems to work. I joined a gym too. Haven't been in a couple weeks, but I'm there as soon as I have energy when I get off from work.
  4. It's very hard. Your body changes after surgery. I used to love protein shakes and now I can't stomach them. I'm also over creamed soup. But, I have to do it, so I'm getting in everything I'm supposed to. Water with MIO and popscicles are my FAVs. I'm not hungry ever, but I can't wait for the next stage when I can actually have food. Until then, I'm counting down. But I love the energy level, can't stop walking...LOL!!!!
  5. @Calebsmommy It feels great to walk without heavy breathing right? LOL! I did my follow up appointment with my PCP on Monday and went to Target after. I walked around for 3 hours just looking at stuff, mostly clothing I'll fit into later. I had no stomach pain, my feet didn't hurt and I never ran out of breathe. Yesterday I did my follow up with my surgeon. He's very upset about my protein intake. I get very nauseous now when I try to get it down. It's like it's too thick. I had 2 protein drinks today despite how I felt, yogurt and some soup. I also got the majority of mg water down and of course my FAV, a sugar free Popsicle. The gas gets better every day. I think I'm almost done with it. How are you feeling?
  6. Warning: I just wrote a book...LOL!!! I have all those issues as well. I was sleeved last week and I will tell you what everybody has told me...EVERYTHING CHANGES!!!!!! My work issues...I've decided not to care anymore. My blood pressure is lower now (I didn't start blood pressure meds until I started this job). I used to worry if I was going to lose my job everyday and I'm the best damn employee in my department. I'm over it and I only care about my check. If I lose my job, I always bounce back and find something better within a month and on a positive note, I have more experience to add to my resume. My Kids...Yesterday we sat down and reorganized our way of doing things at night (bath-time, checking homework, getting ready for the next day, etc.) If I want to be a better person, I want my kids to be better little people too. My boyfriend of 8 years (never married)...I decided its time to drop the dead weight next month. I don't care if I'm single for the next 20 years, I am a better me when he's not around. I've put up with so much it's ridiculous. It is taking him way too long to grow up. The final straw was seeing how much he 'cared' about my recovery. He hasn't done anything for our household. Hasn't cooked a meal, cleaned, asked me if I needed anything. I returned to work today. I don't need him now. I was just amazed at the level of support he gave me, which was NONE. And last but most certainly not least, self-esteem...You are fabulous and guess what, you will be even more fabulous after you have the surgery and start losing weight. I've only lost 10lbs since surgery last week, but I lost myself when I gained all that weight. I want me back. Those issues will resolve itself. You just keep being the best you, you can be and it will all fall into place. If you ever need to talk, I'm here.
  7. Happy Birthday!!!! I'm 30 next year (September), so I hope to look good by my birthday too. Advice: Put on the cutest pair of heels, a fitted dress and make absolutely sure to cross your legs (since for so many years we couldn't). Have a great time Hun!!!!!!
  8. I have it now and had a UTI which I'm taking antibiotics for now...Ugh!
  9. I love all of those shows and I still plan to watch them because I love to cook. I sound like the Chef from Ratatouille...LOL! I'm on liquid for another couple weeks, but when I make my kid's plates, I try to make them look like they were from one of the shows. Sounds crazy, but it makes me feel good. If you like to cook or just love what they have on those shows, I've learned how to still get what I want with less fat, calories and carbs by adjusting recipes. I can't eat now, but I can't wait to try some new dishes.
  10. Hi!!! Welcome! This place is the best for support. As for your surgery, we'll all be praying for you on Friday. I just had surgery last Wednesday and went back to work today. The gas is what really bothers you. If you walk, walk, walk and gas ex, you'll get through it. Also, remember, everyday gets better. I have so much energy now and since I do, I sleep well at night and wake up early. Well, good luck and see you around!!!! :-)
  11. I was never so happy to see that Popsicle last Thursday...LOL!!!!
  12. @Fiddleman what are you doing to have so much success?!? You've dropped over 100lbs in 5 months. I'm hoping to have a similar effect now that I've just been sleeved. Wow!!!!
  13. @OneWritersSoul who are we to judge weight...LOL! We are all on here for support. I was very happy to see your numbers and to see how realistic your goal was by 1/1. Keep up the good work! I'm in too Baby.... Heaviest Weight: 327 Sleeved 12-12-12 weighing: 300 Current Weight: 290 Goal by 1-1-2013: 275 I think my goal can be met and I'm ready for the challenge. Let's go Guys!!!!!!
  14. @Calebsmommy I bought some tea and I'll try it warm. Everyday the gas gets better.
  15. @almostthere34 You are absolutely correct. I am getting better everyday. I don't have as much gas anymore. I have lots of energy. I just can't wait to be off liquids. I'm over soup and I now hate protein. I used to love the protein drinks and now they make me nauseous. I just found something at GNC called protein shots. I'll be using those until I'm off liquids.
  16. @debs1228 Keep it Girl! I just showed my Mom (Deb and born 12/30...LOL) your pics. I was just sleeved as I said in an earlier post last Wednesday, but my Mom cannot decide between the sleeve or the band. So far I have lost 10lbs and it hasn't even been a week yet. I'm amazed and using your pics as fuel. Thanks again for the inspiration!!!! :-)
  17. No Prob! I hope things work out. I've just started letting my hair grow back from a cut over the past months and really seeing a lot of growth. I'm worried my hair will break off like so many others. The one thing I will do is to continue not to use harsh chemical treatments like color, perm and I've been relaxer free for 2 years now and I'll also stay away from a lot of heat (blow dryer and flat iron).
  18. @Almostther34 they said my liver was great during surgery and he could really tell I put forth an effort to do my liquid diet. This post op is hard. I can't eat anything. I know it will get better, but gas is so bad it makes me nauseas and I don't want to vomit.
  19. I would open the capsules and apply it to my scalp.
  20. I will try walking more. The only thing I was told to pick up was Gas Ex for the gas pains. I'm drinking some decaf tea and this seems to allow me to burp a bit. Did it hurt any of you to burp, cough or sneeze?
  21. Ok, so I was sleeved Wednesday. I have has the worse gas ever since. I walk, I am even taking gas ex chewables and nothing is helping. Any ideas?
  22. My plan is similar to Caroline G. I can't tolerate the soup, but broth is fine. I am doing well with water with MIO in it and Popsicles are my new addiction. I can't eat. I tried a protein shake and creamed soup with unflavored protein in it and almost started vomiting. Also, it could be my gas pains. I am having the worse gas pains in the world. I'm up and about, and letting air out (if you know what I mean), but this gas is the worse. It feels like I have something heavy sitting on my chest.
  23. Have you tried Vitamin E capsules? It's supposed to stimulate the hair follicles. Check with your doctor before you use it though.
  24. Girl, you look AMAZING!!!!! I hope I look like you in a few months. Highest Weight 327, weighed in at 300 before surgery on Wednesday. Time to get this thing started.
  25. Thank You all for your prayers! I was out of commission yesterday. I experienced nausea, vomiting and gas pains. I felt like I slept for 2 days, which was amazing. But today, I feel so much better. Let's see what else comes of this...
