So, really inappropriate weird question...
Oh no, I hope it doesn't get that way for me. I really have no problem with it and enjoy making my boyfriend happy so I think we'll both be sad if it grosses me out after surgery.

So, really inappropriate weird question...
Haha, I know my boyfriend brought it up and we were joking at first but then I figured I'd better ask just to make sure that I don't hurt myself or throw up on him.

Low Potassium?
My surgery is next Wednesday. I don't want to cry wolf, I assume he's read over my paperwork.

So, really inappropriate weird question...
My boyfriend and I are very sexually active and well oral sex is a part of life so I'm going to be brave and ask this question. This is a 2-part question. The first is, how would my stomach react to swallowing? Would I be full, would I get sick? The second part is since it's acidic, how long do you have to wait to do that? Sorry for the inappropriate question but I kinda need to know what to expect. :0

Low Potassium?
Yeah, I guess I can tell him in my post-op appointment and see if he wants me to take a potassium supplement. We never met after I was approved so we never talked about my past medical history like my 2 HUGE abdominal surgeries where I was cut from hip bone to hip bone when I was younger. I wrote it down on the past medical history sheet we just never discussed it. I'm sure he has read through all of that though and there is nothing to worry about.

Low Potassium?
So, I have had a lot of problems in the past with dehydration and recently was admitted to the hospital with low potassium. They had me on a heart monitor and had a potassium drip going. Last time I got it checked it was low again and they gave me pills to take that day instead of an iv. Is this something I should be worried about post-op? I didn't mention it to my doctor, just didn't think to say anything. I bought G2 to mix with my water post-op and bought all my vitamins so I should be okay right?

10 1/2 month post op! All my nsvs
Yay! I was worried about that but too shy to make a post! Thank you for answering, it eased my mind...I'm really paranoid about skin and hair so sagging or loose skin down there would freak me the heck out.

Hair loss
I will and sorry about the cross post, I must have confused the two threads. I'll be sure to be super careful with hydration because I've landed myself into the hospital a few times due to that before and don't want to do it again. I also have issues with my Potassium, I may make a separate thread about that and see if anyone has suggestions. Good luck clothes shopping! If you don't find what you are looking for there send me a message and I'll give you some more ideas

10 1/2 month post op! All my nsvs
Ok, your young and I have this really inappropriate question so you don't have to answer if you don't want to but what happens to your uh err girly stuff downstairs when you lose weight? Does it hang funny or does it tighten up and look pretty?

Thank you so much! I'm excited! I will keep you posted

Hair loss
I've just located you. You have two Nordstrom Rack stores and there is a Neiman Marcus Last Call in San Marcos...don't know how close to you that is. Go to one of those places and have fun!

mourning your old clothes? are u nuts?
It kind of depends on your price point. I LOVE Nordstrom Rack, and I think you would have a hay day in there if you happen to have one near you. There's also Neiman Marcus Last Call. These are all the overflow of clothes from the huge expensive department stores at a fraction of the price. My boyfriend's mom who is in her 50's and sounds like is a very similar style to you swears by these stores. They have everything from jeans to dresses to suits to t-shirts and everything in between. Even skin care and shoes. If you don't have one of those let me know but if you do, try taking a look!

Hair loss
I'm EXTREMELY paranoid about losing my hair...I have long gorgeous spiral curls and it would be devastating to me. I went to my long term hair stylist and we had a chat about it. She has me on the Bosley system for women and I'm going in to see her every month so she can check on it. If the preventative measures don't take care of it then hopefully we can catch it earlier and step up the treatment. I'm also taking Biotin. I'm not accepting the answer that it's just going to happen and I'm going to fight to keep my pretty hair. Sorry, rant but I'm scared :0

mourning your old clothes? are u nuts?
Ooh, this is my area of expertise. First question, how old are you and what is your personality like?
-
mourning your old clothes? are u nuts?
I'm looking forward to new clothes...I have managed to wear designer clothes at my current weight which isn't an easy feat but I've always splurged on clothes and shoes. Anyways, I can't wait to fit into my favorite designers for real! When I get rid of my clothes, I'll sell them and easily make $600+ which will help me with my new wardrobe.

Magical creme or lotion?
Let us know how that goes. I'm confident in getting rid of "new" stretch marks with cremes but I'm a nursing student and as far as your anatomy is concerned I don't buy a creme working on old stretch marks for multiple reasons.
-
Magical creme or lotion?
I love Philosophy but they can get spendy. I have a problem with redness and dry skin and Origins has a mushroom line that works wonders. It's literately like magic. My skin is flawless. I've never had acne or anything like that though...just redness. As far as cremes and lotions I'm honestly not sure if the price tag on Philosophy is worth it. I'm going to go with Cetaphil for my skin and hope that works out. I use rose salve for my lips and any super dry ouchy spots and it's also magical. The only way to get rid of old stretch marks that I'm aware of without having any procedures done is by Derma Rolling which is basically using needles to puncture the skin to get collagen production to increase. You have to be careful with any products within 12 hours though. I'm going to hold off and make a decision when I lose some weight and see what my body looks like. If it's really bad then plastics everywhere but my tummy is an option because as far as I'm aware it would be bad to get a tummy tuck then have a baby.

Sudden body image issues?
For me, it's actually the opposite. I'm so excited and I think it shows. I was wearing a dress and leggings today with Uggs...pretty typical outfit for me and just had my hair in a messy bun. I was at the gas station and someone pulled up smiled at me, got out of their car and told me how absolutely adorable I looked. I skipped off and squealed with excitement, it made my day I feel better about myself!

16 days post op....AMAZING
Is leakage actually a side affect of weight loss? Will that go away when I lose weight? If so, I'd be ECSTATIC! It's so so so embarrassing!

Magical creme or lotion?
Ok, I just did a crap-ton of research on stretch marks. While you are losing weight, stretch marks get worse or become more visible. While you are losing weight quickly besides a good diet and LOTS of Water, the best two things to do to avoid getting more or making your stretch marks worse is keeping your skin SUPER hydrated like drenched in lotion. Cetaphil is the best to go with, spend the $15 at CVS and use it GENEROUSLY! The second product is Bio Oil which is $10 at CVS and you should use that on places where you may get or have stretch marks like your tummy, your chest, your hips, your thighs, etc. Use is generously as well and keep that skin WET! For old stretch marks that are already white, the best way to get rid of them is to either use a .5 or a 1mm Derma Roller every 2-4 weeks depending on which size and get a prescription for Renova which is a topical creme used for stretch marks and acne. My primary will give it to me, anyways apply that as directed after the Derma Roller is used and you should drastically see disappearance of stretch marks. I'm going to do preventative measures first and wait a few months then reassess to see how bad the marks are.

Do I really have to do two weeks pre op?
Everyone is so different, my doctor didn't give me any weight requirements. I'm on a liquid diet for 3 days. I've been eating whatever I want and having a few food funerals. It depends on your surgeon I guess.

Getting sleeved January 9th and feeling blue
There aren't many of us youngins on here so we should keep up with each other! My two biggest fears are sagging skin and hair loss so I bought a hair growth treatment that my long time stylist reccomended and she says it will keep my hair from thinning so that relieves that worry. Onto the sagging skin, I'm 260 and 5'3 and want to drop over 130 lbs so it is a legit concern. Luckily for us, we are young and our skin bounce back and stays tight so if we work out we may be able to get away with little to no sagging skin. Here's to hoping right? If you need any advice or a pep talk shoot me a message I'm always cheery and love to help! Good luck, I'm in 6 days!

body composition lessons learned: why BMI is not the best measure of obesity or progress
Yay, this is cool! My GYN has a Dexa scanner so next time I go in I'll have to ask to get this done! Thank you for sharing. My boyfriend is 6'5 and the chart says he should be 180-200 which seems way too low to me! He would look sick and skinny and icky.

Getting sleeved January 9th and feeling blue
I'm 19 and went through that thought process, my dad told me that I was taking a short cut and that if I just worked hard the weight would magically fall off but I'm done. I'm done hating my reflection, I ride horses and I'm done losing to these skinny girls with no skill, I'm done lazing around the house, I'm done with Deb and not being able wear designer clothes. I'm done being fat and so I'm ready to do this, I could care less what everyone else thinks...I'm doing this for me and I'm excited to change my life. You can do this, it's a tool not a magical fix...you still hae to do the work. Remember that and know that this isn't you giving up, this is you changing your lifestyle and doing a lot of hard work to be happy and healthy again. Get excited and get ready to feel amazing. I'm 110% excited and am done feeling sorry for myself. I'm taking this bull by the horns and conquering my weight once and for all! I have faith in you
