Anyone GAIN WEIGHT since getting restriction?
I lost 10# in one week because of overfill, then to gain it all back over the last 2 months from the unfill. Hope I don't gain more in this Aug. month. Checking to see if others are having this same problem. Doctor goes very very slowly on fills. Had a fill monthly since June.

Does Mail Handler's Pay for Fills?
I had GA mail handler's at time of surgery. Don't know if there is a difference in each state. At open season 2007 they told me that they were not approving/certifing anyone else for lap band . It seemed that after surgery they only paid for a certain length of time then stopped payment on anything.

Erosion: Our OWN Statistics.
My doc. told me that erosion is from taking nsaids not prescribed by lap-band surgeon & slippage from carbonated soda.

Was anyone else aware of this?
Before I got surgery I thought that if U needed adj. and not losing at least 1 to 1 1/2# a week then U needed and adj. For 3 weeks I average 1 1/3# weekly and after 2 months only 4#. I had a followup visit and the nurse said that as long as I'm losing weight they do not schedule adj. That there is a lot that plays into it proper eating, exercise, restriction etc. Has anyone else been told this. Everyone that I personally know say they just call and get an appt. for adj. If I get another it will be my 4th. Has anyone heard or read literature before banding that as long as U are losing weight monthly (not the ususal 1 to 1 1/2# weekly) and still feeling some restriction they do not do another adj.? I was under the impression that if U were following the guidlines and were NOT losing at least 1# weekly - then an adj. would be scheduled. I was not aware of this before surgery and I have not read it anywhere? Did I miss reading this somewhere and/or is this the case?

3rd fill - no weight lost since 1st fill
Update: 3 weeks after my 3rd fill I've lost 1# of the 2# I've gained. I had 4th fill schduled for mon. 24th but cancelled. Felt like I needed some more time adjusting to fill #3. In the mornings I would drink liquid. If I ate hamburger meat - could only eat few bites & didn't even get to veggies. Doc says eat protein first, when I do, I don't get to eat veg. so I have to take herbal lax. Now trying to eat few bites protein with few bites veg. at meal instead of more protein. What are your comments on this. Thanks for all input and suggestions. I will check out "Slow Losers" site. Ann

Soda
I've read all posts on these boards about soda. So I called the coca cola co. and asked how long does it take for carbonation to leave coke - their reply is the same as my doc. - poured over ice let sit 15 min.-1hr. If U freeze for icee all carbonation leaves. From my understanding it is the carbonation that causes problem. And of course having soda should be long after surgery. A

3rd fill - no weight lost since 1st fill
Has anyone experience this? Not drinking with meals. One week after 3rd fill got weighed, stayed the same. Scales not moving.

yo-yo restriction
I was told also that as U lose weight, the fat lost first is in the stomach so the band loosens & restriction is less therefore another fill.

noises after fill???
Mary I had my 1st fill july 6, had some tightness a few days after then no restriction at all and gained 2# when I went in for 2nd fill Aug. 26 - last FRI. Now got gurgglin & noises. I feel OK with this now so I guess I'll wait till next month to see if I'm losing any weight before getting another fill. Don't want just unfill unless they can do a fill. After all I'm paying for it. I feel just like U on this.

Taking Survey- Doctors not telling their patients cc's
I just had my fill 7-06 - last wed. I was surprised that I was able to eat sand. bread and hot dog. I do feel a little tiny bit restriction. The office does not schedule one again untill weight lost is not right. I don't know about everyone else but my scales won't weight me at home so I will go to my PC doc. to get weighed. When I had fill, I asked Doc. about cc's? He said that their not telling patients cc's so they don't compare with others since everyone is different. I know everyone's cc's is different. Would like to know if other doc. are following suit. Has anyone else been told this, is it just starting, because I know few years back the office let U know how many cc's U had. I have a 4cc band

Does everyone strain their food on full liquid phase?
Would somebody explain what this is?

Does everyone strain their food on full liquid phase?
I'm getting tired of all this straining. If it's blended well and looks like tomato soup I should think it's ok. If runny cr. of wheat is ok what about grits runny style. The grits would go thru a straw? I'm going to speak to another dietician today and I'll be seeing the Doc. Nurse tomorrow so I will run it by her. Foods that I have blended and strained. 1. baked pot with broth and baby meat blended in. 2. green beans/broth 3. oatmeal --this does not strain good

Does everyone strain their food on full liquid phase?
I'm 7 days post-op and on 5 days post op the dietician said I could start full liquids. I was having hunger pangs so she put me on full liquids. Anything I wanted to eat, blended and strained and thin enough to go thru straw. Not heard on this board but is everyone straining their foods? I know the purpose is so food doesn't get stuck. Are their any foods not tolerated by some? I find I can only hold 3-4oz. at a full liquid meal. Is this the same for others? In the hospital I had a dry heave (nausea spell) they said it was normal. Just mentioning this for others who are doing research on band.

For bandsters that's been banded 6 months+
So, if U aren't restricted yet (no fills) it's easy drinking. If U have fills it takes longer? Ann

For bandsters that's been banded 6 months+
How long does it take to drink 16oz of liquid? Has this been a problem or do U just adjust since it's a new way of eating/drinking and it's something U get use too?
