  1. Hi, everyone. I will be banded on May 21st and have my pre-op on Monday 11th. I'm really getting excited and nervous at the same time.
  2. Hey Carbgirl. The consultation went great and I now have my surgery date of May 21, 2009. I start the Optifast shakes on May 7th. It will be a challenge, but I'm going to do this like I'm supposed to. I'm really looking foward to my surgery date - I get kind of mixed emotions - scared one minute then I can hardly wait the next. It's a real roller coaster ride. My dh and I are going to bariatric university on May 4 - Monday. Hope I learn a lot there, too. Thanks for responding. I'll be on the post op board in about 18 more days. Susan
  3. Mosey, congratulations on your weight loss. I hope to be down in the 130's too. Maybe even the 120's. I've already promised myself that I will walk no matter what. Thanks for the encouragement. Susan
  4. ahb08, Good luck on your banding, too. Have you picked out a doctor yet? Dr. Kim and his staff are really great. Susan
  5. Quilting is a great hobby. Did you feel like quilting while you were recouperating? How long did you take off. I figure since my surgery is on Thurs., I'll take the following week off.

I got my surgery date today. Looks like I will be a May bandster. My new life begins on May 21 (surgery date). Will start liquid diet on May 7th. Hope that goes quickly. I'm going to try to post here often. It will be a place for me to vent and celebrate.

  8. Txquiltlady - Do you quilt? I'm a quilter too. Ever go to Quilters Dream? I really liked everyone at Dr. Kim's office. I'm even getting excited about barriatric University. Was it really informative? Susan
  9. Congratulations on your upcoming date. I'm so glad there was nothing wrong. That's just great news. Susan
  10. Hi, SMS1964. Be sure to let us know when you get your date. What kind of testing are you doing? Susan
  11. Hello, MustLoseIt. I hope we can keep in touch too. You won't be very far behind me. Are you going to have to do the 2 week Optifast? I will start that on May 7th. Maybe I'll get a headstart on losing some of this weight during these two weeks. Susan
  12. Dr. David Kim is going to perform my lap band surgery on May 21, 2009. I can hardly believe it. I've been researching the lapband for over 2 years. I guess I got the date quickly because I'm a self pay:eek: I'm sure it will be worth it, though. I actually nearly scheduled the surgery 2 years ago, but dh got laid off and we lost our insurance. Now I have insurance, but I didn't want to wait anymore at my age. I want to live my life now! Looking forward to being able to post about my surgery day. Susan
  13. Congratulations on your decision. I'm going to my dr on Tuesday to get scheduled for surgery. Looking forward to hearing from you on your journey to the new you. Susan
  14. Hi, all. I'm just as excited and giddy as you are. I have my first consultation with Dr. Kim on Tuesday, April 28th. I am a self pay but think it's going to be the best thing I have ever done for myself. Good luck to you. Susan
  15. I will be going for my consultation and will see how soon I can be banded. My appointment is for Tuesday, April 28. I can't wait. Susan
  16. I went to a seminar tonight and found the dr I'm going to use too. This dr really cares for his patients and knows what he's talking about. I will be a selfpay so I'm hoping to be scheduled soon. Good luck on your journey to a new you and a new life. Susan
  17. Hi, Carbgrl. I'm just starting the journey and I really want to get my band soon. I go to the seminar on Thursday and hope to schedule an appointment shortly after that. My friend is using Dr. Kim and I've decided to try him, too. Do you like him and his officer personnel? I'm glad you wrote and I hope to talk to you more. Susan
  18. I have the same problem with my esphagus and I've sent you a private message. Hope to hear from you. Susan
  19. Wondering if there are anymore HEB bandsters and which Dr. you used? Susan
  20. Thank goodness. I'm hoping I'll be able to schedule in May as that will be a good time to take off work.
  21. I'm scheduled for the seminar on April 23 and I'm getting so excited since I've made the decision to have this done. I will be self pay so I'm wondering how long til I get a surgery date. Also I'm trying to check out to see how people liked Dr. Kim and his staff. My friend is using him, but her surgery is not until June. Thanks for any input. Susan
  22. I have a very narrow esophagus that my gastro doc has been unable to dialate. Do you think this will eliminate me from the banding? I also choke on food occasionally because the opening is so narrow. Another question - I take a lot of medicines. How will I be able to after banding. Susan
  23. Best of luck to you, Alexandria. Hope it's smooth sailing all the way. Susan
  24. Hi, all. I've been reading posts and journals for a while, but decided to introduce myself. I'm Susan from Euless, TX. I'm just in the process of getting insurance approval for the lap banding procedure. Looks like it may be a long drawn out process. I am seeing Dr. Snow in Bedford and really like him and his staff. I guess what I've read has been mostly positive, but some of the negative things have me second guessing my choice to have the lap band. In one journal it talks about thinking about the band, what your eating, not losing fast enough like 24/7. I'm hoping it will be a tool to take my mind off of the food and hunger issue. As far as how fast l lose will depend on my body - what I eat and if I exercise. I'm really pretty positive about my choice, but guess I'm facing the fear of the unknown. Thanks for listening, Susan
  25. Good luck, Mamota. I've just started the process and am looking at about 3 months til I get pre-certified by my insurance. I don't care how long it takes because I know this is the best thing for me. I wish you the very best and a speedy recovery. Susan
