nessie reacted to Coexister in VSG to RYGB - after 5 years with VSGI have no issues with dumping, none whatsoever and honestly jealous of those that do! I feel no restriction and have to be careful of what I eat more than I did with the sleeve. I am thankful for not having any more GERD and did lose a little more weight with my Roux-en-y gastric bypass but still have not reached my goal weight. I am close but stalled for the past two months and in fact have gained a couple of pounds and so 6 months later post revision surgery, I am worried, is my honeymoon over already? So now, I am thinking of going back to the liver diet to jump start my system as there is this issue of no restriction. I sometimes wonder did they really do a bypass? I do know that I have been snacking too much so will consciously stop this and get too moving more. I came back to read this forum for more inspiration as it usually is what I need to get moving back in the right direction again. I have no regrets because with the sleeve I stalled and stayed around 170lbs so I am making progress and I have no more heartburn or GERD or risk of throat cancer.

nessie got a reaction from Ellakay in DepressionIsn't that strange?! Cuz our pouch is like the size of an egg, but I keep hearing this. I gotta get thru this isolating stage & I know my spirits will pick up. It has just been such a hard recovery for me and I wasn't prepared for that. I do NOT want to mess this up. I want to be a good patient and be successful..but still enjoy a taco, lol

nessie got a reaction from Tracyringo in Ate too much, in painOh man! Yeah, I could not vomit it up but I wanted to!! And it lasted at least 3 hours. It's weird. The scale isn't moving, but I see a big difference in my legs and face.

Was afraid at the thought of even drinking today, but protein shake is going down just fine. Whew! Sure did teach me a lesson! I was scared, cuz whew, that wasn't fun. Glad it's over. So thankful for this community who helps encourage each other through this!

nessie got a reaction from Tracyringo in Ate too much, in painI'm on soft food stage and did salmon tonight for dinner with cooked carrot. I hadn't eaten all day & I just wasn't thinking and I ate too much, as I ate so quickly. I have Stomach pains, I've heaved, but only saliva comes out. It's so freaking painful! Will NEVER do this again. Terrible feeling

nessie reacted to Creekimp13 in Ate too much, in painThis, too, shall pass. I was super lucky and apart from a couple episodes of feeling "stuck" never experience pain like you're describing. When stuff gets stuck, walking with your arms behind your head and breathing deeply can help because it pulls the diaphragm down and stimulates the stomach to move stuff along.
Hope you're feeling better and the sensation didn't last too long.

nessie reacted to gabbyd in Ate too much, in painOof! So sorry to hear you’re in pain!
I have not yet experienced this. (I’m starting the puréed stage tomorrow). You’re in my thoughts!!! Hang in there!!! -
nessie reacted to Jaelzion in Ate too much, in painI'm sorry, I know that's awful. I remember the combination of pain, nausa, and distress. Unfortunately I don't have any remedies because the one time when I overate, about 5 minutes into the ordeal I upchucked and that was the end of it. So I don't know if there's anything that can make you feel better but I do know what you're going through. Hang in there. Hugs.

nessie reacted to kunkelgw in Body DysmorphiaI totally agree with mswillis5. I had the fears in the beginning also . I have lost 71 pounds thus far and struggle with the person I see in the mirror. My struggle is not believing what I see. I try to reward myself with a new piece of clothing and feel when I am shopping that it just looks to small for me and am surprised when it fits!. My therapist did warn me that my head will play games with me for awhile. All in all, I am so happy that I made the choice to have a VGS. I cannot look back at the place I was prior to all of this.
Trust the journey. Follow the dietary instructions and really try not to cheat. There are medical reasons as to why you need to eat and what you should eat and when. You have this and there are so many people here that will support you. Be sure to know who the people are in your life that are your supports also. That was also one of my biggest aids.

nessie got a reaction from SummerTimeGirl in Body DysmorphiaDid anyone struggle with, I don't know if it's body dysmorphia or what, but right after surgery? I'm so fearful that this also won't work for me, that I can see how not eating can be tempting. Just so afraid it won't work.

nessie reacted to Paradigm Star in VSG to RYGB - after 5 years with VSGGreetings Nessie,
I deeply appreciate your support as I go through the RYGB eating plan again (just like when I had my VSG). I kinda cautious about the dumping syndrome, I’m planning on taking each food step slowly. Once I get to the puréed stage (where you are now), I will start using my NutriBullet blender to get some delicious food. I don’t know how much weight I’ve lost already because I don’t have a scale at my parents house. When I get home to my house, I’ll have to do a spring cleaning of my pantry because there is a lot of junk food in my house prior to the surgery. I did the pre-op clear liquid diet right before the surgery.
I am already thankful for having the RYGB surgery on March 22. The VSG to the RYGB is the right thing to do in this instance. Before the surgery, I had constant vomiting whenever I tried to eat anything. Now, (after the surgery), I can drink my full liquid diet with ease. No, vomiting whatsoever now. I’m so incredibly happy about that.

nessie reacted to mswillis5 in Body DysmorphiaI have lost 90 lbs in the last 4 months and I have definitely struggled with how I look in a mirror and the size of clothes that I wear. The head games with food are definitely still real and have been quite a struggle for me. I work with a therapist about this though and that has helped. For the first time that I can remember, I actually feel full and know when I have eaten too much. This surgery has changed the way that I taste and view food as well. If I try food that doesn't taste good, I don't give it a second chance and throw it out. I didn't do that previously.

nessie reacted to JazzyJess20 in DepressionYou are not alone. At all. This has been plaguing me for the last week.
Luckily, I let alcohol and cigarettes go over a year ago. But I am absolutely, positively addicted to Arizona Green Tea. I love meat, seltzer and Coca-Cola (at times).
I'm only getting the sleeve, but to my understanding that stuff is a BIG NO NO for at least 2-3 months after surgery. Its very scary.

nessie got a reaction from JazzyJess20 in DepressionI was sleeved before my revision. It took a little bit, but I enjoyed everything you listed. It's why I wanted bypass in the beginning because I needed something to really help me with that. I'm not typical. Wasn't a big eater before sleeve or after. A regular day for me was 700 calories, but I drank my calories, lol. Mostly in coffee. I could drink coffee all day & be fine, then maybe a little bit of steak w/ veggies for dinner. But if we were on vacation, forget it, I would eat ALL the things. I could still eat everything I did pre sleeve, after the sleeve. It was just that waiting period waiting for my sleeve to heal. I LOVE sparkling water, and I keep picking up a can and staring at it, lol. My sleeve recovery was super easy. You'll do great!
