Appreciate the well wishes Tionna. Will definitely be sharing my experience. With time to think over this weekend, I am considering asking my nurse at my clinic tomorrow (11/12/2012) if there is a possibility of doing the surgery at the end of this month (November)... Hi Caroline, I too have gotten mixed reviews (and opinions) from family and friends... what I am seeing is that I get a lot of cheers and support from those who have struggled with their weight over the years and wished they were able to select WLS as an option. Also, I get some of those frowned looks from others who are relatively healthy, health and wellness junkies, or thin already etc. ....they seem to think that I should be able to "focus" and manage my weight without a surgical procedure. Who cared what others think/say....you have to be comfortable with your decision. I've learned how to manage taking in the opinions of others and rather choose to just be happy and positive with my own decision. Finally, I've still got to inform my supervisor that I will be out do to "abdominal" surgery ....that's all I will be dislosing to my employer. I am waiting to speak to my nurse/scheduler on Monday to select my December surgery date. Wishing you the best!!

Hello All... I am new to the Vertical Sleeve Talk app for iPad. Just got my approval call on 11/9/12 (Woot Woot) and will be speaking with my surgeon's schedulers on Monday to get my surgery on the calendar in December! You are right, it's probably best to hang in there b/c any other Bariatric program will have you start over from scratch with them! Stay on em'. I started the process back in June 2012; my clinic was sitting on my file after my last appointment 10/12/12....they had not sent in the paperwork to request authorization....I kept calling every day or so to hound them and finally they submitted the pre-auth document by fax on Thursday ( 11/8/12), and to my surprise I got the call from the clinic yesterday (11/9/12) with the approval!!! I was a little ticked b/c with the quick approval turn around I probably would've been sleeved by now....but I am just as excited that I will be sleeved in December 2012!! Congrats to you! I just rec'd approval from insurance yesterday; will be connecting with the Nurse at my clinic on Monday (11/12) to schedule a surgery date in December, 2012!! Took 24 hours from the time the clinic submitted the request to hearing back on the approval! Sent from my iPad using VST
