Just home from the hospital, And I have a question...
I just had my gasrtic sleeve surgery on Tuesday, February 26. I slept away most of Tuesday. When I was finally alert on Wednesday, I really couldn't see anything close up. Everything was very very blurry. I do have reading glasses, but I rarely wear them. This was really alot different. If I want to see or read anything, I have to hold it at arms length. My eyes have never been this bad. The Dr thought it might be from the anestesia & my nurse thought it was from pain meds. Has anyone else had this problem, and if you did, how long will it last? It seems like my pupils wont dialate??? I have had previous surgeries and never had this side effect. I haven't had any pain meds since 1am this morning. I meet with the dr on Monday for a follow up & he said if thing don't change with my eyes he's going to refer me to an optometrist.

They wanted me to lose 11lbs before surgery. I've lost 21lbs in the last 6 months. I'm really struggling to stay on track this week, because this is my last week before my preop diet. I start preop 2/19 & surgery 2/26.

February 26!
I don't have to start my preop diet until the 19th. My diet will be six packs of sugar free carnation instant breakfast with 1 cup of 1% milk with each packet. Plus lots of water and sugar free jello and broth. I'm even excited to start that, because it means my surgery will be soon.

Constipation
Try drinking "Smooth Move Tea". I got it at my local Giant grocery store in the organic section. That really works well for me.

fluids help please
I asked my nut. the same thing..... She said protien as a drink is a meal. Don't count it in your fluid total. She said your body needs the extra fluids to pass the protien through your system.

help me understand why get a sleeve at 180?
Steelergirl... Here is my perspective. I'm 40 years old & 5'2". My start weight 215 current weight 198. My surgery will be the end of February. I have hypertention, my mom had a stroke at 44, & my dad had a heart attack at 60. I've been on every diet possible. I've lost 1,000's of pounds over the years & gained them all back. It really hit me when I turned 40. I always put everyone infront of me (family, friends, work). This is the time for me to change, me forever. Having the sleeve done will give me a regain weigh stopper, so I can catch myself before my weight creeps back on. This will keep me on track. I won't be able to slip back into my old bad habits. I really don't have a specific weight I want to get to. I just want to have a healthy bmi, I want to be able to maintain a healthy weight. For me the risks of surgery are far less, than the toll it would take on my body to yo yo diet for the next 40 years. Good Luck!! Keep your chin up!! You can do it!!!
