Almost 4 week update
Finally starting to feel better, Thank you Jesus! I've started soft foods as well as puréed. Eating seemed to help me feel better. Still can't tolerate protein shakes or drinks, just can't handle it. Am doing better on fluids. Not really caring about weight loss at this time, just concentrating on healing and getting better.

How to get my water in?
I have to water down poweraide zero, still working on getting in fluids and protein. Nothing with ice no matter how bad I want it.

3 week post update
Went to see Dr. Selzer today and he isn't happy about my progress. He asked me how I was feeling and I told him, like someone sawed my stomach in half. He wants to start me on an IV fluid program every couple days, I begged him to wait but he gave me till Friday. I just hate pic lines and dragging a poll around. Good news, he removed my drain. Darrell had to hold my hand, I was pretty scared, I hate those. So I was pretty sick all day and haven't eaten anything but jello. I was praying about it and I felt God telling me to eat yogurt, soo I just came downstairs and started on a blueberry yogurt. Wow, I feel so much better. Thank you Jesus! I need to start making a list of what I can eat that doesn't make me sick, apparently jello makes me sick also, oatmeal. That yogurt was amazing! All for now!

I really need to hear from a Vet!
I am now 3 weeks out and feel like crap. I went to my surgeon today and he wants to start at home IV fluids. I just can't bear another pic line. My stomach keeps bubbling up and every time I drink slowly about 15 minutes later it starts gurgling up. I'm in trouble if I can't drink! My surgeon said because of all the surgeries and the infection problem it's taking longer to heal and IV fluids may be the way I have to go for now. Have any of you gone through this?

Sleeve like a newborn baby!
I just discovered that if I treat my sleeve like a newborn baby, I feel so much better. Every time I get sick I eat a little something, even if I don't feel like it, I stop being sick. Well that's like a newborn. Newborns start out with liquids, progress to soft, etc, etc.... You all may have already figured this out but I'm kinda slow, lol. So I was in a dead sleep and I woke up really sick feeling, it's too early to get up so I ate a sf Jello. Amazing, all better! I ate butternut squash Soup last night, not something that will stick to your ribs, and was sick at bed time. When my boys were baby's I would put a lil rice Cereal in their milk and they would sleep all night. So maybe tonight for dinner I'll try some instant oatmeal and see if that works. So let me get this straight: eat every couple hours or you cry like a baby. Lol. My aha moment!

Everything smells funny
I don't know if this has anything to do with sleeve but everything smells bad or funny. I know about the taste thing but didn't expect the smell thing.

Go into this with your eyes WIDE open
Before my sleeve I would read every post I could, thinking I wanted to be well informed. There are some ppl who just fly through this surgery perfectly. Then there are those like me. I knew I was a high risk but ignored it. My surgery was on Jan 22nd, woke up in ICU, had to return cause drain area got infected. I went to a University hospital, had a very good surgeon and medical team, it just happened. I'm saying all this cause things can go wrong, not everyone soars through with flying colors. I'm 3 weeks out and really not happy with my decision to get this done. My hubby asked why I did it in the first place. Well, I lost 40lbs pre op, I wanted to use a plan that I could keep the weight off, my diabetes was so bad I was on a 5 times concentrated insulin, and I was the fattest girl in the room. Just for starters. When you ask about recovery time, some will say 3 days, or longer. Some had super experiences some not so super. When you ask about pain, some will say, no pain, some a lot of pain. You can't put us all in a nice tidy folder and say this is how it is for everyone. We're all different and react differently. So prepare for the worst and be blessed with the best. Have a good relationship with your surgeon and medical team. But don't think it's gonna be pain and complication free, I sure hope it is for you, just be prepared. And keep your eyes wide open! Best of blessings to you and your journey!

Just when you think it can't get worse, lol
First I would like to thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. Those days of pain and suffering after I got home from the hospital turned out to be an abses in my drain tube. It was full of puss and gunk, gross. Spent a full week in the hospital, (if your surgeon doesn't put you on antibiotics before, during and after, kick him)! They couldn't pin point where the infection was but worked to get it stopped. That week was my Hell week, no more concern for the sleeve, just concerned about this horrible infection. I spent the most part of the week in ICU again. Had to have a p.i.c.k. Line and IV Nutrition. They weren't sure if it was just the infection or a leak as well. They told me that either way the treatment I was getting would heal both. I thought I was emotional before, but for those of you with complications and being far from home, I feel your pain. Although Hubby was only 2 hours away I felt like it was a million miles. I am so glad to serve a God who will be there where ever I am! I really needed my Lord and Savior to get me through this one. I am home at my sons recuperating and finally getting some rest. May feel like going to my home next week, well see. Just enjoying the pampering for now. Still sore but getting used to the sleeve and all it's gurgling, lol still doing full liquids and that's ok with me. It's true what they say about forgetting to eat! Have to work on that. Not sure if I would do it again, too soon to tell. But what's done is done, just have to make it worth it. Also, I haven't weighed myself, just hasn't been a priority, well see. I know I use too many comas and the word just too much, sorry about that. Lol

Emotional roller coaster
Your kind words are truly appreciated, thank you!

Emotional roller coaster
Making my poor husband crazy, I hurt, I keep crying, and I'm wondering if I did the right thing. Back on clear liquids and ice chips. Maybe I'm just too old to be messing with my body like this. I'm sorry friends, I'm just being a big baby. And I have a jinormous headache.

QUESTION!?
My diabetes kept me from losing, was taking a 5 times concentrated insulin.

How long will it take to feel better?
Back on clear liquids, was able to get rid of some gas. And Prayed A lot, thank you Jesus! Had a good cry and a nap. Feeling better. I may be expecting to feel great too soon, just seems so many ppl on here bounce back really fast. I must be a slow bouncer.

How long will it take to feel better?
I was sleeved Jan 22, and my tummy is not happy. Started pureed yesterday and have been sleeping during the day and wide awake at night. I feel bloated and icky, planning on going back to clear liquids tomorrow. Kinda discouraged, will this get better? Keep feeling like I'm having spasms.
