  1. Glad to hear you are doing well!! Keep us posted!
  2. Tomorrow makes day 3 for me and it hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be so far...I am a total drama queen and I expected I would have broken down and cried like a baby by now, but I'm doing ok! I did tear up this morning because I work at a hotel and they had bacon at breakfast and they were all raving about it and it made me so sad and frustrated...but I reminded myself that I am doing this for a reason! It's frustrating to have food all around you and not be able to eat any of it, but I know you can do it! Trust me, if I can, anyone can!!! I feel like I'm finally learning self control, and in all honesty it feels really good to be proud of myself for saying no to things I shouldn't eat! Best of luck!!!
  3. Tomorrow makes day 3 for me so I'm hardly an expert, but I have found that since I am doing 3 meal replacement protein shakes a day and then can have all the clear liquids I want including water, low sodium broth, sugar free jello & popsicles, and the drink mixes that you add yo your water ( like Wyler's under 5 calories), that the later I wait in the morning to eat the fuller I am for the rest of the day. If I eat ( and I use the term very loosely) my first shake around 6 or 7 then I find myself absolutely ravenous by 9 or so and sometimes I get to the point when my stomach starts to toss and turn and it makes me sick because it is empty! I have found that if I just drink water or unsweet tea until about 9 or 10 and then have my first shake, I stay fuller longer and make it until about 3 or so until I have the 2nd shake...in between if I start to feel a little empty I will eat a cup of jello or something like that...I know everyone's body is different, but that is what is working for me! Hope you find something that will work for you!!!
  4. funny little story of my first pre-op liquid diet day: I work at a hotel (2 actually), but at this one, I had to bake cookies for the afternoon and oh man....I love me some soft gooey chocolate chip cookies!! I can't stand crunchy or crispy cookies....so I WAY over-baked them on purpose until they were no longer appetizing to me! LOL!
  5. Contact your doc for the liquid diet guidelines...that is the best way to find out for sure! I'm on 3 shakes a day and broth, sugar free jello, and sugar free popsicles, as well as water, crystal light, any water additives that are under 5 calories....I can have unsweet tea with splenda...there are options, but every doc is different!
  6. Oh man...I start my 2 week liquid diet tomorrow, and I am already an unhappy camper!! I just keep trying to tell myself "mind over matter" but I happen to have quite a great amount of "matter" that is screaming "EAT SOME FREAKIN' PIZZA!!!!!!!" Any advice or suggestions are welcome!!!!
  7. Alrighty folks!! February is here!! I know we have already had a few people go in to get sleeved! Best of luck to you all! Let us know how you are doing! Also, it would be wonderful if everyone let us know when their surgery date gets here! We want to cheer you on!! LizTex
  8. Best of luck to those of you getting sleeved this week!! Keep us updated on your progress on the Social Group February Sleeve Buddies!
  9. I think i've already got you TStorm, but I will check and make sure!
  10. Woohoo!! I'm on the 18th as well! Best of luck
  11. Hey guys!! Congrats to all you fellow February Sleevers! I am the moderator of the February 2013 Social Group so if you want an invite just let me know and I will send you one!!
  12. that was supposed to say she tries "too" hard...I hate mispelling things! lol
  13. My best friends are Jillian lovers....I hate her. Like others have said, it's not the best workout for the "fluffier" folks, but I was able to do a slightly modified version. still hate her....she makes me want to put my head through the tv. It's not the workout itself, she just annoys me. She tries to hard to be a badbooty...I will go for forced gaity over forced toughness any day! I guess that is all a matter of preference. I do have a Denise Austin dance dvd that I like...she's chipperly annoying but the workout is fun! I also like Crunch Fat Burning Pilates, it's standing pilates so there isn't a whole lot of up and down. The most important thing is to find something that fits you! Even if it's Richard Simmons "Sweatin' to the Oldies"...I'd still take him over Jillian...bring it on sweet cheeks!
  14. I literally just picked it up this summer and started watching...I have almost finished seasons 1-8 on Netflix then I'm gonna start on 9...iv'e seen one or two epsiodes from that season, but I decided to not put the cart before the horse, and wait!
  15. Have you called you insurance provider to see what the deal is? I know all IP's are different, but I know with mine (BCBS of Texas) they have great customer service people and they are willing to help explain things to you. If they are not paying even after you have been approved, then they need to tell you why.
  16. I dumped Facebook 9 months ago...one of the best decisions I ever made! (I'm not dogging FB at all) I just got tired of all of the hooplah, I was spending too much time on it, and mostly I kept getting myself into trouble with things that I was saying...and if you can't be responsible with what you say then it's best to not open your mouth (or keyboard) in the first place. But yes, this is a great place to share some common ground with people and gain knowledge from those who have been through what you are going through.
  17. I share your worries! I start my pre-op all liquid diet on the 4th and I get sleeved on the 18th. I am kind of freaking out about it but I decided that since I only have a couple of weeks to go, that I was going to try and prepare myself a little so I'm doing two shakes a day and one meal and if I feel a little snacky I will have whatever it is that I want (just not a lot of it) I'm sticking to it for the most part but there are a few splurges here and there because I still want to eat a few things before I get sleeved ya know? The meal replacement my doc provides it actually VERY good and only 160 calories per serving, so while I am sure I will be pulling my hair out by the time my surgery rolls around, at least i won't have to be "eating" something that tastes gross! just a side note: since I have started doing this Pre-pre-op diet I have lost close to 10 pounds (aided by exercise a few times a week).
  18. ok...I should have just read up a little further! lol! Glad to hear all went well!
  19. Jeff I think you are already a member of the group, but I will double check!! How did your wife's surgery go?
  20. I wish there were post-op support groups here in my area!! That would be awesome but I have not come across any around here. As far as crying...just let it all out!...your whole life is changing, overwhelming emotions are to be expected. I am going for a weekend ladies confrence two weeks after my surgery...not too sure how it's gonna work out, but I guess that it will be a good test drive because I have a lot of plans for the summer already.
  21. Welcome to all the new Feb. buddies and congrats to all of you that are nailing down dates! I will be sending out invties to the actual February 2013 Sleeve Buddies Group so if you have not received one just let me know!
  22. you should be able to call your insurance provider and find out...usually they send a letter either way
