  2. allsmiles! Your gonna do just fine. Keep those nerves in check so on Monday your able to discuss your situation with the Doc. Be honest with him... Your nerves are to be expected! This is a big deal!
  3. Hey everyone.. I cant tell you how encouraging and helpful this site is! I am really getting nervous. I go on the 12th for my pre op and the following Tuesday the 18th is my surgery. I have read and read read about do's and don't. I have stopped taking my Omega 3, no more hormone patch. ( my husband is a saint! I can't even stand myself right now) I was on Zoloft I have weaned myself off completly now. I have PTSD ( major anxiety) I am still taking my meds for this. I have Barrett's esophagus so I am still taking my Nexium. I have stopped my Cholesterol meds as well. I have purchased Advocare chocolate Protien shakes. 23 grams per serving and I actually like them! Thank goodness. I am taking off two weeks from work. Or at least I am going to try. I have been running in high gear to get everything done that I can to help my office run smoothly while I am gone. My VP called me yesterday and ask me when my surgery was again. I told him the 18th. He says will you be here on the 17th. I said umm yes I will. He said when do you think you will feel good enough to get on your computer at home after surgery? *shaking my head* I told him the following Monday I would sign on and monitor the activities of the office. He asked if I would be available by phone if needed. Im thinking to myself for goodness sakes.. Can I please just rest and not have the any stress for two weeks??? We will see how I feel. This damn stress is part of my problem to begin with! Thanks for reading. It feels good to vent and share my excitement and fears with others who understand.
  4. Good luck to you Monday Mufasas-Mom!! Looking forward to following you progress. My surgery is 9/18
  5. Shayrec... checking on you. Your just a week out of surgery how are you feeling? Things going okay?
  6. Okay I am 18 days away from surgery. Am I excited? YES! Bit I am really nervous. Im I doing the right thing? Yes! I have to take so many meds for my diabetes and cholesterol plus I have sleep apnea and Barretts esaphugus. I am 75 lbs over weight. So many people say Peggy you can do this yourself just excersise! I have tried and tried. My endo doctor tells me my meds have alot to do with my lack of energy. I am so up and down energy wise. My one big concern is how will my body know when to stop loosing weight? I know this may sound silly to some but I see so many people that are loosing 100's of pounds. I am right at 5'5 and 51 years old, Today I weigh 202. I go in for pre op testing on the 12th and will be on liquids for the week before my surgery. We have a trip planned on the 20th of October will I feel good enough to go? im just chattering here I know.. freaking nerves are getting the best of me!
  7. This is a fear of mine as well. Everyone says at about four months this starts happening. But it does grow back! It better is all I can say!

  10. Thank you all for your kind comments. I am excited! I have the typical apple shape. Long skinny legs. Thin arms. Im all belly and boobs. This weight has really started to make my feet and knees hurt. I have a stupid question. I have 75 lbs to lose. Will my body know when to stop losing weight? I see some people here have lost 160 to 200 pounds.
  11. Thank you all so much for your kind words. Okay I have a vain question! How many people lose some of their hair? Is there a way I can prevent this?
  12. I agree... I will follow my doctors directions.
  13. Today my surgery date was set. September 18, 2012 will be the first day of the rest of my life as they say. I am very thankful for this forum! I am amazed at the mountains of information I have found just i the last two hours. I am a diabetic. ( oral meds) I have sleep apnea. I also have Barretts esophagus. For those who do not know what this is it is a pre cancerous state of the esophagus from prolonged acid reflux. My triglycerides are 563. I have about 65 to 80lbs to lose. My endo doc and my gastro doctor have told me its imparative that I lose weight. Its been very very frustrating. I have tried many diets to no avail. I have a concern I am going to throw out here to all of you. I am VERY afraid that I may sabatage my own success. Not sure if this makes sense to anyone out there but I have always cared and done for everyone else in my life.. ie my husband parents and children and friends. I have always put others before myself. It's very difficult for me to ask for help or to be center stage so to speak. Tonight my husband and I talked and I was so very suprised at how supportive he was and intends to be. Our insurance has a Bariatric exclusion so we are paying cash for this procedure. I told him I feel guilty that I have not been able to lose this weight on my own in the last two years. I cried and he told me he loved me and he wants me around for another 25 or more years and Im worth any amount of money that it takes to help keep me here. He made me feel so much better but I asked him not to tell everyone because I really can not handle people negative opinions. Is that the wrong type of attitude to go into this with? Should I be standing up and telling everyone? Anyway this newbie thanks those of you that have shared their experiances. I will be watching and learning! Thanks for taking the time to read my some what neurotic post!
