Congrats everyone who will be sleeved soon.- African American Sleevers
Hey you are looking great! Just think! A few months ago this was all paperwork Dr. appts, meetings, and classes. I will upload some picks next week that are clearer. Was pulling for SF since hubbies team was not playing. I went to support group Thursday night. Terry did not recognize me..lol.i don't even think Dr. Phluke recognized me at first. So I know I am changing. I am 181 and plan on being well into my 170's before the end of the month. I have removed 75% of clothing from my closet. Keep up the good work!- African American Sleevers
I can cross my legs! I never thought I would be so happy to see my chicken legs back.lol my face is getting skinnier. I have not seen the 180's since my children were small. I have 40 pounds till goal. Even though the first month was a small struggle. I dont regret being sleeved for one da*n second!- African American Sleevers
You'll do just fine. Everybody experiences the process differently. The final result off seeing the scale move I the other direction outweighs any discomfort you will go through. I am recently sleeved so some of the blogs I wrote some helpful advice about the pre op process so read back through a few as I post every week or so. Even though I read some post myself about not buying all the different protein shakes and stocking up for it I did it anyway.and ended up spending way too much money. Save your receipts for what ever you buy in preparation because your taste buds may change and what you liked before the sleeve you may not like after. That includes jello favors , pudding favors, soup flavors, vanilla versus chocolate protein shake etc. Before and after surgery, you gotta have a good support system, friends who will not try and sabotage you. The week before my surgery I never got so many gift cards to my favorite places to eat .And advice on food recipes like smoky cheddar cheese taste real good in Mac n cheese. I felt like da** you know I am about to get sleeved. I had to address people in a positive manner but stay true to my conviction that this is the correct path for me. I no longer have blood pressure meds. I no longer have diabetes type 2., and I am going from one side of Catos Fashion to the other, one side of dress barn to the other lol. I feel good about that small victory. My husband did not have a problem with my weight before the sleeve,he just wanted me to get healthier but weightloss is giving me a little more confidence and he is reaping the benefit and loving it I am also more approachable and because my physical appearance is changing people are willing to engage in conversation with me more. I have made some friends outside of "my peeps". You do not live in a bubble. You still gotta deal with those who don't have a eating problem and or who like to eat. I was most surprised at the lack of support from my own mother. And she can get down in the kitchen, I like the sleeve because as I get farther out from surgery I know I can still eat some of her amazing cooking ..just less of it and I make smarter choices. She is understanding everyone has there own path in life and she is coming around. I am still learning to play with my food in place of eating at the same speed as my husband. My portions are a lot smaller now. If I eat at the same pace as he does, my sleeve will become uncomfortable. What to do in place of eating? What will you do for fun? What else gives you pleasure besides food? I am discovering lots of things like to do. Motorcycle riding, hockey, jazz festivals. I am going on a cruise to Jamaica with friends. Sorry I am long winded..I just wanted to share my story. Even though I take vitamins and had to learn to keep up with my liquid and protein intake. Even though going from a regular diet to a high protein low carb diet put my body into "what no carbohydrates?shock" the first few days of the pre op diet. I feel for me the surgery was a blessing, mentally, physically and spiritually. Have a wonderful day.- African American Sleevers
Hmmm.....better make an appointment with your doctor.- African American Sleevers
Did the hospital give you Zofran or promethizine when they discharged you? It will stop the nausea. Also I eat fully fit deli turkey. It is 97% fat free. I put half a slice of the light laughing cow cheese in the middle and roll it up like a cigar. I also do it with deli rotisserie chicken. I can eat canned tuna chicken and salmon. I tried to eat a 3 oz chicken cutlet and even though I chewed it to death, I had unsettling restriction. I haven't eaten red meat yet. I am in phase 4.- African American Sleevers
My hubby and I been on the motorcycle this weekend. It was nice weather here in San Antonio and it was just sitting there saying ride me. Didn't have any challenges at all post sleeve. I took plenty of water and liquid protein and stopped every half hour to hydrate. I am glad to be able to ride again. Strange phenomena, I have been gripping my shoe insides with my toes..are your feet suppose to get smaller? And I too have joined the boobies went south club..lol- African American Sleevers

Keya34 I dont know, I am only on my third week. But I was surprised and will quickly learn not to make that a habit.- African American Sleevers
Today was the first time I put too much in my sleeve. Basically ate to fast. Sitting here watching love and hip hop and not paying attention putting the spoon in my mouth like I was on automatic. Then all of sudden I felt the overwhelming urge to burp or belch, but I couldnt do it. I basically started breathing out of my mouth. I stood up and started walking around. I managed a small burp. After and 5 minutes it started letting up but the pressure lasted for a good 20 minutes. Ugghhh I am still on phase 3 and got a big wake up call. SLOW YOUR ROLL!!!- Not making weight
yes talk to you doctor about a pre -op liquid diet.- African American Sleevers
Welcome to the forums! There is a wealth of information about WLS experiences. If you do what your doctor tells you, you WILL lose the weight. Good luck on your upcoming procedure!- African American Sleevers

Thanks again for the well wishes- African American Sleevers
I'm feeling really blessed, My youngest son went back to college. My oldest is coming back stateside from Japan with my first Granddaughter. I am looking forward to seeing her in person again. she only knows me lately as this person on face time. Lol... Step one... Continue healing... Step two doc clear me to pick up a small child. Step three do something different with this hair... Looking thru hair style magazines for a cute short relaxed hair style. I am taking 7500 biotin. And I do a deep conditioning treatment with Olive oil hair mayonnaise just in case the hair starts thinning. step four get on the plane and go visit my son, daughter in law and grand daughter. After all that's what I did the the surgery for... To be around to see the young ones coming up.- African American Sleevers
And one more thing I wish some had told me to do. SAVE YOUR RECEIPTS! when you start your property diet and you get your lists of all the stuff your doctor tells you to eat prior to surgery. And if you do like me and by some more of that stuff for after the surgery cause you feel you might not want to go to the store during recovery. And like me you buy protein shakes, sugar free pudding and jellos and I whatever. Not saying it will happen to you but my taste buds changed after surgery and 80% of those flavors that were acceptable before surgery I couldn't stand afterwards. I am stuck with stuff that will have to be disposed of. If I had of kept my receipts I would have been able to return the stuff or exchanged it for flavors Iike post sleeve. SAVE THOSE GROCERY RECEIPTS- African American Sleevers
..... and other good news... I can eat purees! I learned how to poach an egg... And I learned I do like 1% lactaid cottage cheese if I put a teaspoon of pizza marinara on it. :-)- African American Sleevers
Hi everyone just would like to drop a tidbit of info as you are going through your sleeve process. I am 16 days out from my surgery. I had my 2 week appt yesterday. It never occurred to me that the hospital would do a biopsy on the part of the stomach that was removed and there would be a result from that lab. Well if I found out I have H Pylori Causes and will have to take a two week course of two different kinds of antibiotics 3times a day to rid myself of this common stomach bacteria. (most people don't even know they have it) I also was informed the pills are quite large. Which if you have been sleeved, can be quite a challenging to say the least. In hindsight I probably should have gotten a endoscopy instead of an upper gi. I had a choice and I chose not to have a camera stuck down my throat to look into my stomach for fear of gagging but I heard that is a definitive way to check for it with a tissue sample. If you have frequent gastric reflux or ulcers or any stomach issues make sure you get this tested from your blood. At least this way you get the antibiotics BEFORE the surgery and not after when it is difficult to swallow large pills. Google H Pylori.... I didn't even know it was such a thing. On the positive side... Thank goodness they didn't find anything else.- African American Sleevers
Let me correct myself all of the people posting positive, and knowledgeable comments on to others need to be commended you never know who's listening.- African American Sleevers
Thanks Ballermom, you have given me and others positive messages along the way and I just wanted you to know I heard and truly appreciated you taking the time out when you can, to post. With hard work and determination 2013 is gonna be a wonderful year.- African American Sleevers
Sometimes things that you really want to do not come easy. Thanks Ballermom for showing us that tenacity it sometimes takes to get this process moving along. You will need that strength of character along with positive thinking. Make sure you have supportive friends around and do not put stock in fake friends who only try to tear you down after your procedure. Be strong because you will still have to interact with those who like to eat and can and will eat(this procedure does not put you in a bubble) the sleeve keeps you from eating to much at one time but the sleeve does nothing for the head(that's all you baby!) so all my fellow sleevers and believers by all means keep it on straight and know what you are determined to achieve and don't let anything break your spirit. To each and everyone out there...A healthy mind, A healthier body and a healthy belief in prayer. My husband converted one of the rooms in our home to and home gym with flat screen tv and receiver and speakers. He also put Apple TV in there so i can watch all my favorite music videos and listen to my music. I been blessed this Christmas and I know he really wants me to succeed and is really in my corner. I can only use the treadmill right now (only 13 days out) but I am getting more stamina and when I use it I see results. Since I started pre-op diet size 24 BYE size 22 BYE and size 20 I am on my way to looking in the rear view mirror at. I went from a 3X up top to a XL. Yeah I smaller up top and I got that sista kaboose if ya know what I mean. Just the way I'm built. I may sound like I am tootin my own horn but I've wanted this for a long long long time. And I couldn't any other successful way to go about getting this weight and high blood pressure and diabetes issue to be a thing of the past. Y'all keep ya eye on it and believe in yourselves cause if you don't who else will?- my crap
I too was suffering from bad nausea...then I remembered my doctor had prescribed me anti nausea Meds one is called phenergan. I took 10 ml of that and 15minutes later I was nausea free and able to get my liquids in. Please if you are suffering from nausea get back to the doctor and have him prescribe you something for it. I would not suggest phenergan if you need to drive it has a sedative affect. But get something please no need to suffer. - African American Sleevers
