Gas and heartburn

hiya, not got that far yet but i wonder if it would be ok to take some gaviscon that would settle it down and make you feel more comfortable
3. just thought i would share this. in the main forum the americans keep talking/raving about 'crystal light' drinks which are not available in the uk but i have found a resonably priced seller on ebay and have ordered a sample pack of 11 sachets (1 of each flavour) for £2.50 + £2p&p. from what i've read on lapbandtalk i think it's a flavoured Protein powder that you add to Water.

Hi HarleyNana, i couldnt get banded in the UK with such a 'low' bmi but i am obese although not morbidly obese. i inevitably get fatter each year and knew that it would take a few more miserable years to get near to 40 bmi and thus qualify for the surgery here in the UK. i was not prepared to wait for that to happen and found a surgeon abroad that was willing to band me now before i got mobidly obese and believe that's where i would have ended up eventually.

Just Banded

Welcome to Bandland i wish i could say i have no apetite like you!! i've been starving but i think half of it is cos i'm bored sitting around 'recovering' it makes the day seem so long.

In pain

awww, you poor thing - i know exactly what you're talking about though! i am only 4 days post-op but already feel so much better than at 2 days post. give it time it does ease off each day.
11. hi Rain, i had surgery the day after you (11 july) and suffered terrible tummy and shoulder pain but the lady in the bed next to me was absolutley fine! i suppose it's a very individual thing, but the gas seems very reluctant to leave my abdomen! and that's probably what is causing the pressure on your chest but it is early days and we must be patient (even though every day feels like a week!) i wonder if you may have eaten your soup too fast if you keep burping it up?

Too soon...? HELP PLEASE

i am still in my 1st week post-op and it says on my diet sheet that i can have cream soup as long as its strained first so i had some lovely fresh carrot soup Carrot & Coriander i put it through a metal strainer first and measured out 200mls i watered it down a tiny bit but it seemed to get thinner when it was heated. that was about 2.5hrs ago and i've had no problems.

Really scared

hi soaf9 ive just been banded and i had a carb blow out all week before the operation although i was not instructed to do a pre-op diet. my starting bmi was quite low (33) so that might be why. anyway they did the op without any problems despite the nice ultrasound lady saying that i had 'a big fatty liver' . in my humble opinion considering your low starting bmi i don't think you should worry too much about the pre-op diet.. but when you';ve got the band fitted there is NOWAY you will be able to cheat the diet and believe me you will not 'cheat' for fear of doing some serious harm

new bandster

i think i'm in love with Professor Fried! he did my lapband on wednesday 11 july. everything is going well so far and what with all the anxiety of waiting i'm glad to have got it over with!! :whoo:
15. Hi Folks! i'm just about to leave for the airport! hopefully i will be infection-free this time! and have a lapband fitted on Tuesday :nervous Chimboree the same thing happened to me with the infections! so frustrating i didn't even know i was ill then to be trapped in a foreign country for a few days when all i wanted was to go back home :cry now i am dreading the pre-op tests more than the surgery! hope you sail through yours . won't be back until Friday 13th :phanvan so will probably take a few days to catch up on all the posts by then! good luck to everyone else being banded this week! :biggrin1:

new bandster

Hi Simon, im going to the same place as you to be banded on Tuesday 10 july, wish me luck i'm flying tomorrow morning :phanvan i'm not sure it Prof Fried will do it or his colleague (can't remember her name but i have met her already) hopefully all my pre-op tests will be ok this time! :cry
17. i've got a ton of sachets left over from my attempt at 'lighterlife' and will be using them as post-op protein drinks
18. good luck for Wednesday Mrs Horne! not long now! UK price £8k ($16k) 11,837 euros Prague price £4k ($8k) 5,918 euros
19. oh yesh, it's half the price of UK! all post op fills/unfills are free you just have to get there considering that my flight out from Bournemouth on the 9th cost me 0.49p and the return flight £9.99 (+ plus airport taxes) it's cheaper than travelling to London! the band im having is a bit different to the american version, it's a Johnson & Johnson one which is commonly used in europe and not available in USA.

Pre-op Diet

i'm being banded on the 9th july and luckily my surgeon doesn't require me to do a pre-op diet so will be spending this week stuffing my face! :embarassed::hungry: it might be because i've quite a low starting bmi (33)? good luck to all of you that have to do a pre-op diet - i feel for you!!
21. i am in the UK but going to europe for the procedure because it is so much cheaper hopefully i will come on before i go because they won't operate on ladies if it's the first day of their period and last month i came on on the 9th :cry but i certainly feel premenstrual :angry so hopefully it starts soon!!

July 2007 Bandsters

Hello, i'm from UK and going to be banded in Prague on 9 JULY 07 :clap2: it will cost half the price of having it done in the UK, ie: UK price £8k ($16k) Prague price £4k ($8k) ignore my signature i need to make a new one
23. i am off to Prague (again!) to get banded on 9th July 07 :whoo: last time i went they couldn't operate because the pre-op tests showed that i had a urine infection and a blood infection hopefully i will be infection free this time round!

anyone banded in Prague?

unfortunately everything that could go wrong did go wrong - you honestly wouldnt believe what i've been through! it's been nearly 2 weeks since i returned from Prague, they could not operate on me because i had an infection in my blood and urine! (which i wasn't aware of) i booked with bodies beautiful and they have not contacted me to see how i am or when i want to go back for the op. i am seething as i've just emailed them (again) and still waiting for some response - just to acknowledge my existance would be nice! it seems that now they have their payment (deposit) they're not bothered. :angry
25. totally agree with you Jacqui :clap2: i could not find a surgeon in the UK that would fit a lapband so have to go abroad for the procedure. my bmi is 32 and each year after failing diets it goes up and up :guess . in the UK i was being pushed to have the gastric balloon for 6 months at a cost of £5k!! i knew that a temporary solution to my ever increasing girth was not the answer and would no doubt regain all the weight lost and more just as in previous diets. i am going to Prague to have the lapband fitted at a cost of £4k - half the price of UK and £1k less for the gastric balloon in the UK!
