  1. I just had my surgery last Thursday the 30th. My doctor keeps his sleeve patients in for 2 nights. The first night was spent in CCU as he likes them to have the extra care. The following morning, the swallow test was done. I was then transferred to the normal surgical floor for my last night where I was observed starting my liquid diet. I personally was glad for the 2 nights in the hospital with the extra care!
  2. I'm now day 3 post op - came home yesterday. I stopped taking pain meds within 24 hours of the surgery. Still no pain - just 2 incision areas "pull" when I move around - but other than that, I feel pretty good. A little pressure on those areas and holding of the belly works well. I'm working on getting in my Protein and Water and just resting a lot. I found I had to sleep in bed in a reclining position with a big pillow propping me up, laying flat did bother the belly. In the hospital, I did have the JP drain. Having that removed did not hurt, it just felt as if I was giving birth to an alien - just felt wierd and took the breath away for a second. I have my follow up appointment with the surgeon on Wednesday, and hopefully can progress on in the diet a little more to keep the nutrition requirements up. I'm praying everyone elses recovery is going as well!
  3. Surgery was 12 hours ago! I'm doing well! I'm up out of bed and the need to hit the pain button is minimal. I'm just sore with no real pain. I'm looking forward to my swallow test tomorrow so that I can SIP water! My doctors standard practice is to be in the Critical Care unit for extra eyes do I'm loving the private room! However the person in the room next door is snoring do loud it FEELS like I have a room mate. LOL Hope everyone else is doing just as well. I am expecting that I may be a little more sore tomorrow.
  4. I can't wait to be able to accept my husbands offer of wearing his jacket on a cool night. I hate always saying "thanks but it won't come close to fitting".
  5. My day is tomorrow as well. I'm not nervous- just very anxious! I'm READY!
  6. Tomorrow is my day! I just received my phone call to find out that surgery is at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I am so excited - not a bit nervous (yet). Looking forward to sharing my experiences (all positive I'm sure)! Wish me luck :-)
  7. I have ALWAYS wanted to be a runner - but it wasn't happening. Well, my surgery is tomorrow. I already have a goal to run a 5k in the Spring. I WILL BE A RUNNER!!
  8. I was also afraid to tell my mom. When I did, her response was, "Good for you. I just hope you aren't getting the band". LOL I was shocked at the response!
  9. I have a feeling that this day is going to go very slowly!! Just waiting for that phone call for my time is making me anxious! I'm not nervous as of yet - just anxious for this journey to really begin!
  10. I'm on the pre-op diet phase (2 weeks) and surgery is tomorrow! I have been using the Unjury Vanilla, Chocolate and Chicken flavor. I really like them and they met the requirements that my doctor specified for the protein drink that he wants his patients on. They do sell a sample pack for $20 to try. You do have to order the drinks online though as they don't sell in the stores. I also bought the unflavored to mix in with my foods during my puree phase - but I haven't tried it as of yet.
  11. Congratulations! It sounds like things are going great for you...wish the same for me as I am getting sleeved on 8/30. I did have the 2 week pre op diet and lost 10 pounds so far during this phase. I'll see you in OneDerland!!
  12. I just found this forum and think it's terrific!! I am being sleeved August 30th in NJ! I have been on my 2 week pre-surgical diet - which hasn't been that bad....I've been living on protein shakes, yogurt, carrot sticks, applesauce and chicken :-) At least there is some variety? Looking forward to hearing about everyones experiences.
