Hey! Happy new year! I have had my pre op appointment and I started the diet on the 27th. This diet is a trip but i'm handling it. I'm so nervous and i'm getting scared. But I know I will be ok! How are things your way? Have you started the appeal process?

Hey lady...with your insurance can you have a bmi with 35+ and at least 2 obesity-related co-morbid condition? If that is so, do you have diabetes or high blood pressure, sleep apnea...etc? If so you may still be able to be approved. The dietary part is stressful alone and then thinking about the approval process can be a bit much too. Keep faith, hopefully everything will work out for you. Try talking to your insurance as well to see exactly what there requirements are and see if you have an individual who will be working on your case solely. I have bluecross and sheld and I had an individual I worked with through the whole process to get to surgery. Maybe if you gained some type of communication with your insurance it can help with your approval process. I hope you feel better hun!

I'm scared of having a leak, not waking up from surgery, not losing weight or losing weight and gaining it back...

Jan. 3 for me... I'm super pumped! Scared too

As far as I know, I don't have food allergies but that is a thought too...

I got my results from my testing and I was told that everything came back normal (thank God). It doesn't explain my constant upset stomach or etc but hopefully it won't be much of an issue in the future!

My BMI is over 40 but I hold my weight very well (for the most part). The few people i have told feel like I am to "small" to get this surgery, but I know its something I need. Alot of people is always going to have something to say rather is positive or negative. You know your struggles better than anyone else. You know your reasons for wanting to have this procedure. Stay strong, follow through and ignore the ignorant!

I'm not sure how many weeks early I was, I was born in mid march, and wasn't suppose to come until mid may. So you could say I was probley about 7 weeks early. I've always had issues with my digestive system as a kid but believe it or not it has gotten better as an adult even though I do struggle with getting sick to my stomach on a weekly bases. I do have a good doctor because of all the people i've gone to about my stomach issues, he is the first to ever send me out for this type of test. So I do value his opinion, so if it does come back positive, I will start off with the sleeve and see what happens. My testing is first thing in the morning tomorrow, so i'm sure I will hear something back by next Thursday at the most.

@iggychic I appreciate you responding...I google the issues and found a few studies that are being done for people who have GP and are getting bariatric surgery rather its GB or VSG. If I read your last posting you said your son was born premature? If so, the funny thing is I was too...really got my wheels turning now...lol. And you was very help with your information. @jennifer4444 I appreciate your information too...it gives me alot of hope. I will keep you both posted with my testing and results

Well that makes me feel a little better! I'm just nervous about my surgery getting delayed or even yet cancelled...ugh.

I haven't the slightest why the doc said that gastroparesis would work better with the Gastric because more people throw up more often with the Gastric bypass. My doctor said he don't really have any studies about this sydrome and the sleeve. But i'm sure he's going to do some digging. He also said that what we could do if I do have gastroparesis is try a sleeve and if for some reason my symptoms becomes worse that we would do an revision. I just hope my testing goes well and comes back negative...

Hey you guys...I hope someone has been or is currently in my situation and can shead some light on my current situation. My surgeon is sending me to do a Gastric Emptying Study to see if I have Gastroparesis or better known as Delayed Gastic Emptying? Now with that being said, he is not canceling my surgery that is suppose to be 1/3/13 but he said that most people who struggle with Gastroparesis do better with the Gastric Bypass (which I do not want). I would like to know if anyone has Delayed Gastric Emptying and has been sleeved and how are you doing with your sleeve? For those who havent been sleeved yet, is your surgeon ok with sleeving you knowing you have Gastroparesis? Has anyone surgery been delayed because of your Gastroparesis?

I have a list of 30 questions almost..I sorta feel like I'm over thinking everything

I haven't been told as of yet, but I'm hoping to take 3 weeks off..I just want to make sure I'm comfortable to go back. I'll figure out for sure Tuesday

How's your process going?

Well my doc told me since my labs was done over 30 days ago I have to have them done again, I've had my ekg, xray, physical and ultrasound done. So I haven't the slightest as to what they are goin to do...I'm excited tho...

For anyone who has there pre op appointment, how does that work? What is done and talked about in that appointment?

Hey @Pinkie...I will be having my surgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Oh through the Fresh Start Bariatric with Dr. Tracey Pitts...I know your excited for your day too! What are your thoughts on it? To everyone else... congrats on your dates!!!

Congrats to you on your date!!! My procedure will be Jan. 3. I have my pre-op appointment on 12/18 so I assume he will tell me what diet I will need to be on and etc. I am nervous, happy, scared, excited...I don't even know what to do with myself right now...
