  1. Great job everyone!! Love seeing the progress
  2. My cousin had given me the below recipe but I changed it up a bit to be a bit better for me. I added what I do in red, not saying that is how you should do it just giving ideas If you make it normal the first time you can trying experimenting like I did until you find the right balance for you. The longest part of this process is peeling the chic peas. I am not sure how good this is for us but I don't think it is all that bad I do not eat a lot of it although I have made it a few times I take 1 or 2 spoonfuls and am happy it hits that "dessert" spot for me. I am not sure of the nutritional value, never good at figuring it out. Peanut Butter chocolate Chip Dessert Hummus Ingredients: 2 cups chickpeas - 1/4 cup natural peanut butter - 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons maple syrup - 1/2 Tablespoon vanilla extract - 1/4 cup chocolate chips - Method: Drain, measure, wash, and peel your chickpeas. Peeling them isn’t absolutely necessary but it makes for the creamiest hummus and really is worth the effort. In a food processor, add the first 4 ingredients and process until the hummus is smooth and emulsified(the one thing no one wants for dessert is chunky chickpea pieces in their dessert). Remove the blade and fold in the chocolate chips. Move into a deep serving bowl and serve with graham crackers or baby carrots. Below is the link to the actual recipe http://www.thewannab...dessert-hummus/

  4. Awe, I'm sorry to hear your doctor is like that. You are doing great!! I think at the 6 month mark you will have to work a bit harder to help the weight loss.. I am looking to get into the gym (something I should have don already) but I have 84lbs I still want to lose give or take some. Just take it one day at a time and you will get to goal girl!!
  5. I have heard this too, they say the first 6 months is like the "honeymoon" phase where the weight will come off without you helping but after the 6 month mark you have to work with your sleeve to help the weight come off.
  6. I was sleeved 11/8 and I am down 63lbs since surgery - everyone loses at different rates and different factors to take into consideration also. I am sure you're doing great!!
  7. Glad to hear yall are doing great! If you become too nauseous it may be the pain meds ( not always but I know I was miserable until I asked them to stop giving me pain meds) . I hope u all have a speedy recovery and welcome to the losers bench!
  8. I personally spoke to my pcp before surgery. She was on board for my 3 month followup also went to her at 1 month out to ensure incisions were healing correctly. I recall receiving when a follow up visit with pcp should be done in the packet I had received after surgery.
  9. Hi I still have them all but the apple bottom ones.
  10. Hello, I honestly never asked the doctor his goal weight for me, the 135 is mine it may change as I drop weight I just want to look healthy along with feeling it
  11. I am 5'6 and the weight's were 303lbs heaviest 301lbs when starting pre-op diet 282lbs on day of surgery
  12. Just to give an update, I am a little over 4 months out now and I am down 58lbs since surgery, total of 77 since pre-op diet and a total of 79lbs from highest Dr.Garcia and his Staff are great, I would do it all again in a heart beat
  13. I just wanted to say that I am 4 months out today and just so excited. My body is changing and sometimes it makes me laugh to know that I am supposed to feel the bones in my body lol. When I lay down or when I shower I am like " oh wow I have a collar bone, wow this is a hip bone.. oh wait this is an elbow and knee bones really?! haha you all know what I am talking about. I have never regreted the surgery although in the begining it was a bit tough but now its not bad at all. Eating and drinking feel like a chore (never thought I would say that) but I am doing great. I am learning my body and how to work along with my sleeve. The only thing I have left to do is join a gym.. I have been saying for a while I even have passes for a month of kickboxing so I need to get my behind in gear with that. Good luck to everyone that is just starting on this journey and congrats to all that have already started on this journey!! My highest wieght was 303lbs in July Surgery weight was 282lbs Nov 8, 2012 4 months out I am 224 lbs Mar 8, 2013 I am attaching a photo of the biggest me and then a pic from about 2 weeks ago.
  14. I am so excited for you, that your time is finally here. I remember when you first had gotten your date!! Please keep us posted. Good Luck to both of you!

  17. No problem, glad I could help I was sleeved 11/8/12 so almost 3 months out. I am doing great, just need to get my behind in gear and start exercising. Other then that eating feels like a chore and I was a bread lover now all I can think about is my Protein and don't even want the bread!! Lol I am just soooo happy that I had this done. Just had my 3 month blood work done waiting for results hopefully my Vitamins are doing their jobs. Thanks for asking!
  18. The number is 888-748-8785 just tell your family to be persistant if someone gives them a hard time about patching them through. When my mother called it took her two times the first time, each time thereafter she had no issues calling my room.
  19. The same thing happened to me, so they put me under with the gas mask. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!
  20. I also recommend bringing neosporin and an antiseptic spray so you are able to care for your incisions while back at the hotel. I went through Ready4Achange and they provided tape and gauze. I wasn't too bored they have a tv and some American shows that is what I did the when I wasn't walking
