  1. After lots of researching online, and on the forums I just felt very comfortable with Dr. Garcia. I like the fact that he is working out of a hospital that has an ER God forbid it is needed, the 2 night stay there and the 2 nights after and one night before in the hotel, also just knowing he doesn't seem to be too far over the border helped me too! So I am set with my Nov7th date Just do your research and you will know when you find the right doctor. Good luck with your choice and I can't wait to see you on the losers bench!
  2. LMAO ...thank you for the giggle, it was much needed today
  3. If you do a search in "Self-Pay & Mexico Vertical Sleeve Surgery (NEW FORUM!)" you may be able to find more answers, below are 2 threads. Dr. Garcia - http://www.verticals...arcia-patients/ This is a general one asking for input from many doctors in Mexico - http://www.verticals...rcia-and-ortiz/ Best of luck on your decision!
  4. Good morning! Oh my goodness, last night all I could think about was being sleeved, how much my life would be changing afterwards and just how awesome (although tough) the journey will be. I didn't realize I was obsessing until I woke up this morning and as I rose from the bed I was holding my tummy like I just had surgery.. haha anyone else think I am excited or just nuts? Now only if I could actually eat as if I were already sleeved I would be all set! Just wanted to share, since I am sure many of you may be able to relate. Have a great day!!!
  5. Hello, My insurance does not cover any WLS so after much research I decided to go with Dr.Garcia in Mexico, my date is 11/7. However for the after care, I am going to speak with my PCP later this week and I do not see her having an issue. If complications do arise just make sure you go to a hospital with bariatrics - I was told by my insurance that if I have to go to the ER everything would be covered under my ER coverage. Good luck on your decision
  6. Hi, As a self pay I found that here in the states the cheapest I could find was $13500 ( crazy because I was told $11500)either way still too much for me so I am going to Mexico and paying $4700
  7. Hi LaDwana, As previous posters had mentioned check with the insurance company directly also it should state it in the policy. I have United Health Care and it excludes any type of WLS. I am not letting this stop me though, I am headed to Mexico in November to be sleeved . As for your age if you feel it is the right time I say go for it, I wish I would have done this years ago if it was an option that I had known about. Best of luck to you and your decision.
  8. I have to travel 6+ hours (by plane).. have to fly from NJ to CA then into Mexico I go
  9. Thank you, that helps . The one hospital that I go to (if i have to visit the ER) one of the surgeons I would have used if my insurance paid works out of that hospital so I feel a bit better.
  10. Hello all, I was just curious to know if you had complications and had to go to the ER did your surgeon attend to you or was it just hospital staff? I am just trying to think, because right now I am in between going to Mexico or staying local and in the event I had to go to the ER say after I returned from Mexico I wondered if it would be a problem <<knock on wood I wont even need to>>. Thank you in advance for your replies and I hope everyone has recovered or are recovering from complications
  11. Thank you Susan, I can't wait to be with you on the losers bench! I will let you know what happens Tuesday hopefully everything does work out and I will have it done with Dr.Trivedi
  12. Hello, I did not have surgery yet I am scheduled tfor 11/7 in Mexico but I have an appointment with a Dr. in Jersey on 9/11 I am going to see if they have a payment plan or something if not I am sticking to Mexico. How about you, have you been sleeved yet?
  13. I bounced around a bit like you did but I ended up back in Bayonne, we were neighbors down the shore too I used to live in Port Monmouth and Union Beach lol
  14. Hi, Thank you for the response, I am from Bayonne. It is funny because I had called the office over two weeks ago to find out pricing and they quoted me I think $23,000 for one of the locations which there is no way I can do that. I had left a message because I recalled at the seminar one of the doctors mentioned that Jersey City Medical Center did not charge a lot so finally I had gotten the call yesterday and I was told it would be $11500.. now that is still more then the $5500 (including airfare) of me going to Mexico. I heard that Dr.Trivedi's office has a payment plan though, I am going to see what that is like and maybe I can make it work. I would rather be close to home because my family is here. How are you feeling? Congrats on the sleeve
  15. Hi, I am bouncing back and forth between him and Mexico because I am selfpay. My friend recommended him to me she is getting sleeved in March, one of her friends and her boyfriend were sleeved by Dr.Trivedi and have no complaints.I a I have my first consult with him Sep 11th. Is the staff not pleasant?
  16. Thank you all! I really appreciate the input
  17. My insurance does not cover any WLS so i came to terms with that lol. I had gone ahead reached out to Dr.Garcia's office in Mexico I am set to go on Nov 7th. Today I received a call from the one surgeons office that quoted me $23,000 and they mentioned that at one of their other locations the cost would be $11500. That threw a wrench in my plan because for starters I am still scrapping up the money for Mexico, but this one is about $5800 more then me going to Mexico the only thing is I may be able to get on a payment plan here. What to do, what to do? I am not sure if I should stick to my original plan or if I should go and speak with the surgeon to find out about the financing for the $11500. I know this is my choice but just asking for some input as I am just confused. Thanks
  18. Yes, definitely will be more than happy to let you both know how it went I am in Hudson county, Bayonne. I know time is going to fly..I'm so excited to be entering my next yr of life healthier. I scheduled the surgery for a little over a week after my 31st birthday , kinda my gift to myself. I hope you enjoy your vacation. If you don't mind my asking, where are you going? I normally can't make it out of jersey for vacation, past 5 yrs ended up in AC lol -Gina
  19. Hi Ladies, I am also from NJ but getting sleeved in Mexico on 11/7 , would definitely keep y'all posted and would love to be a buddy @ Ashley, I was hoping to have the surgery with Dr.Trivedi from the same practice as Dr.Ewing but too expensive for a self pay so I am going on my mini surg-cation lol .
  20. That is good if you are able to find insurance that will cover the WLS. I am also in NJ but my insurance does not cover any type of WLS so I was trying to purchase insurance on the side but everyone that I spoke to said they do not cover bariatric surgeries so I am now headed to Mexico to be sleeved by Dr. Garcia on 11/7 I hope everything works out for you!
  21. Did you call your insurance company to double check? Mine excludes anything to do with WLS but when I called and spoke to someone she said that I am covered under the emergency care from my plan for the ER. It was my thinking anyway, God forbid something went wrong I was heading straight to the ER anyway so it is great to know they cover it (I thought they would because it would be an ER visit).
  22. Ha ha that made me think of a scene from the movie Shallow Hal
  23. I haven't been sleeved yet, going on 11/7 but as I was getting dressed I was thinking I can not wait until I can put my bra on and my rolls do not cover the sides and how I can't wait for my panties not to keep rolling under my last tummy , it seems the only ones that do not do that are my "granny panties" (for a lack of better words). Just thought I would share with others that may understand how I am feeling and I am just giggling away over here at how silly it all would sound to someone that doesn't understand.
  24. I haven't been sleeved yet but after a lot of searching and reading I have decided to go with Dr. Garcia I am going Nov 7th. Best of luck to you!
