The ACTI-TRAINER (like bodybugg)
Nope! I went last year for the frist time. A co-worker was talking about how she and her family (husband, dad, aunts, uncles...) ALL go in May. I asked her what dates she was going, and it was during the week I was taking off anyway, cause of my birthday...so I was in Las Vegas for my 29th bday. This year we are going at the end of May, so I'll already have my birthday by then...but fun will still be had! Last year we stayed at the RIviera, this year we are staying ath Sahara. The North end of the Strip is cheaper!!! If you want to stay on the South end (Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, Ceasars, etc...) you will pay 3-4 times more than you will pay on the North end. Overall, I LOVE Vegas. Although I think you are crazy for going to the desert in August! Take sunscreen, and some GOOD walking shoes. No one cares about style...you're feet will kill you if you don't take comfy shoes!

The ACTI-TRAINER (like bodybugg)
Thanks for the info... I'm going to Vegas in about 3 weeks, so I'm saving money for that right now (priorities, haha!), so maybe when I get back I'll look into getting one. :kiss2:

Ted hose and spirometer
Yeah, they are unattractive, but wayyyy better than getting a blood clot and dying... Oh vanity...Haha. Still, I hope I won't have to have them!

Do you use the armband, or the beltclip? I would like to know how BIG the armband is, cause thats what I would use...but HELLO! I'm fat and would need a freaking belt to wrap it on my arm. Haha. I don't see on the site if it says how big the armband is? Maybe I should wait until after I'm banded and have lost some weight?

Ted hose and spirometer
Hi. As a nurse, I can totally understand WHY they want the TEDS and the IS...but I can't say I would like it either. As long as you are moving adequately, I would think it would be OK to discontinue their use... BUT don't take MY word for it!! Call your doc and see what he/she says about it.

The ACTI-TRAINER (like bodybugg)
Thats AWESOME! I was looking into the Body Bugg. My birthday is in one week and I was telling everyone to pitch in and buy me one! Haha. This looks like it would work just fine though! Thanks for passing this on!

I like beer!
Ohhh! I am SUCH a Beer drinker! I don't drink often, but I LOVE a cold Bud Light. that may seem silly, since I know there are 'better' beers out there, but thats what I like. I've been thinking the same thing lately, worrying about beer after band. ha. Its just one of the things I'll give up, much like binging on ice cream, or pizza, or whatever. Dang. No Bud Light, no Diet Coke...it's a good thing I like water!

I'm new - Anyone from Kansas City area?
Thats awesome to hear. I was/am nervous about going there, cause I haven't met anyone who went there...actually, the only Banded person I know got her surgery done about 3 years ago, and it was done in California I think...so I don't 'know' anyone who had it done here. I'd love to hear more about your experience there. If you want to, you can email me at szn0512@yahoo.com, or PM me and I'll give my # and we can chat.

Lower Body Lift Fun!
OK, I've been addicted to this thread. I've been reading it off and on for about a week now. (Is that sad? Well, there IS 25 pages!!) I have to say that you are ALL inspirational to me! It was reading this thread that made me decide for SURE that I am doing Lap Band. And then I'm getting that lower body lift, and breast lift! I"ll be 30 in a week and have NEVER had perky boobs, as I have been overweight since I was 6 years old. Puddin, you are an AMAZING woman. Reading your honest and sincere posts have touched me. I feel like I know you! Spldgrl, you are equally amazing. Also, you both inspired me to start going to the gym again. I've been there 3 times this week...and I know if I hadn't stumbled on this thread that I wouldn't have gone once!! Thank you.

LB is pissing me off
I agree about LB panties, and they also have the best bras for large women. Anytime I buy bras or panties anywhere else they 'rol' on me! Grr! Hate that! For actually clothing I prefer the Avenue. Fasion Bug is pretty good too. Catherines is so expensive (though all Plus size store are over priced.) Never been to CJ Banks, but my Aunts are always talking about them maybe I should go?

Getting banded May 9th!!!

I'm new - Anyone from Kansas City area?
Thank you all for your advice! I think I will definatly go to Malleys seminar, but will still hold my consultation with WTLSC. I need to weigh all my options here. I know I'm in a hurry to get this done, but I need to make sure I make the right decision for myself. I'll keep you all updated as to what happens next! I'm so excited to start losing weight, I've already started going to the gym a bit more regularly!

Ahh, I"m thinking you went through Malley. I should read better before I ask so many questions...duh. OK, so how long did it take you from start to finish? :0)

I'm new - Anyone from Kansas City area?
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was going to go to the seminar for Malley on May 8th, just to check it out... I was kind of nervous about paying $150 up front, and they do not re-fund it. I know about the $750, but the papers say it is only if you get your insurence approval through them, and then go somewhere else for surgery? I thought that was a bit much, but I hadn't planned to go that far and then NOT get surgery there. Soooo, tell me MORE MORE MORE about who, what, when, where, and how you got yours done. How long did it take and so forth. I want it done like, YESTERDAY, haha. With knowing my insurence will approve it, I feel like I should get faster service, but I know that isn't how it works. I heard that Malley was backed up until Aug/Sept?!?! Thats a LONG ways away! I need help now. Haha. Could you please tell me who you went through? Have any contact numbers? Too bad Lap Band surgeons don't offer you a cash reward for sending a new customer their way. This is definatly a 'word of mouth' kind of thing, ya know?

I'm new - Anyone from Kansas City area?
Hello. I've been lurking these boards for a few weeks now. I have set up a consultation with the Weightloss Surgical Center in KS for May 9th. Here's the deal... I KNOW my insurence will pay for it, the question is HOW MUCH. I have BCBS of KC (for Federal employees). I would like to know if anyone here is from the KC MO/KS area that has BCBS, and what Center did the insurence cover? I would hate to pay $150 for my consultation at WTSC, just to find out they are 'out of network' or something. Could you please help me out with this? Thanks.
