Actually i find since the band i burp more than i ever have... and thats talking pre-band when i drank carbonated beverages:paranoid

They are both invasive surgeries .. Anything that requires breaking the skin is considered invasive... The band is less invasive. This is on of the reason why i didn't go with the GB... Malnutrition/absorption... and the whole idea of changing the whole digestive process freaked me out.. Star Jones does look like a bobblehead... :heh: 2 years out GB patients and Band patients have about the same percentage weight lose but the band patients do it slower and more gradually while the GB loose more drastically at first. And by the way when you pb its not like vomiting really... it more so just comes up ... its hard to explain... but i cant stand vomiting and i experienced pbing a couple of times it aint that bad... (its not pleasant but not bad) Good luck with your decision just make sure you have all the facts down before you are completely sure :confused: (Oh and just a side note i had my surgery done at Loyola Hospital In Chicago IL, and they don't even offer the GB anymore...)

i also have a problem with steaks... the only steak i can possibly have is well Filet mingon... and those are small to beginning with(not to mention expensive) If i really have a bad craving ill buy it but i got over it

***bread is a complete no no (croutons a few pretzels a couple) ---although i can sometimes do tortilla wraps haven't tried pita yet.. I find crackers triscuits and wheat thins work best.. Make mine sandwiches out of crackers. ***pasta very little ***rice very little & well cooked ***soda is also a no no ***i have a hard time with tough meats .. i.e. steaks (unless its fillet mingon but can be costly) I agree with everyone on here it really does depend on the person But to tell you the truth i don't miss the bread or any of this stuff im thrilled at the healthier foods choices i have been making :hungry: (doesn't mean im a saint and i didn't cheat once or twice with some sweets) :guess You'll find your taste buds will change a lot like the thought of greasey food makes me sick.. Congrats on your surgery and you will do great!!!!

lately i have found im obsessed with tea... lol for some reason it helps me relax before i go to bed and helps me perk up in the morning... kinda weird huh:tea:

Completely Agree... But to add to the list i now weigh less then i did freshman year of high school i started freshman yer at 235 i now weigh 227... only 8lbs less but ill take it and run!!!!:confused:

HA HA HA... LOL ... i can so see that too... Where i went to school for medical assisting they also had a message therapy classes.. And this is kind of off topic a little but like 3-4 days after surgery i had to take my cpr certification test... not fun when your abdomen kills and you cant take the pain meds.. Ya my best friend says this a lot..."oh im doing it the right way with diet and excercise".. and "you're taking the easy way out"..l oh and my personal favorite "god i would never have surgery to lose weight that so stupid".... But then again there are times where she does support what i did.. lol then again i used to weigh 80lbs heavier than her and now i only weigh 15lbs higher i believe will she is still going back and forth the same 5lbs. ...... dont get me wrong im not making fun or anything i can totally relate (especially when i hit a dang plateau and before LBT except i would lose 5 and gain 10) I had my band buddy put in march 15 and my birthday was the 27th... it kinda sucked to have to eat applesauce but i told myself its worth it.. just think this is a birthday present to myself and i will be so much healthy next year Some people do it unintentionally i completely agree but there are those who just are plain mean. :biggrin1: But the funniest thing is when my mom tries to explain to someone else that i had or am going to get a fill she always makes this hand gesture as if she were to use a screwdriver or something like that to do the fil (or as she likes to say make it tighter) Too funny

Ok i know there are some of us whom plan on reaching a thanksgiving goal (myself included) But i thought to myself i really want to start of my New Years with a bang and am absolutely determined to ring it in , in ONELANDER.. Anyone else want to give yourself a goal to aim for to the new year??:cry

New November thread for the MARCHIES!! 8mths Post-Op here we come!!!!! Can't Believe that its almost 8mths. post-op. We are all doing wonderful and we got some new challenges ahead of us. As we all know Thanksgiving is this month our first thanksgiving with the band and Well depending on where we all reside those evil Cold and snow filled days will be there to challenge us in our exercise routines. I can relate to your fear of being intubated... I found out the week before and was so paniced about the fact of a tube being placed down my throat... But no worries it isn't bad at least i don think so Don't remember it at all because of the fact i was out cold LoL... But its perfectly normal to be scared at first but think of all the good that will come out of it. (i did not have a catheter in.... that's actually the first i heard of it being put in for the band... But then again its based on each individual person ask the doctor.. and if so let him know how you feel about that and ask for it to not be put in until your out.)

I think this whole Halloween thing is getting to all of us :cry Think about it you go to the store and everywhere is giant bags of all kinds of goodies... I know as soon as i saw that candy corn i went running to the register with it (even though its pure sugar and i can only have like 3-4 at a time) but inside my brain kept telling me it was wrong not to buy it... If Halloween does this to me i'm scared of X-Mas coming along... Big Polish Family equals lots of cooking and baking!!! But everyone stick strong we'll make it though!!!:whoo: But i finally got of my 3 week plateau of 236-233.... now down to 229!!! and i just got my fill so i should be good:confused: Well i will be away for the next couple days (going down to Springfield to take my AAMA certification test :eek:) and dreading not being able to get to a computer to go on LBT...

they probably suggested downtown cause they do the fills under fluoroscope there... at oakbrook he does it without... I still go to the oakbrook one only cause i hate downtown traffic.. and your charged for parking. Good Luck and isnt Dr. Shayani awesome???? -Jeni
