    Feeling Great

Six months later, I have lost 60 lbs since surgery. I've dropped from a size 20w to size 14. My bra size dropped from a 44G to 38DD. At my heaviest weight, I was 275, today I am 193. This has been an amazing journey. However, I don't see the weight loss like others do, so can be quite frustrating. Taking various photos and comparing them has helped visualize my weight loss. Other than that, I feel great. More energy, no more back pain. Having the surgery has been a great step toward A BETTER ME.

I am currently 11 days post op. My surgery was on 03/08/2012 with Dr. Nicholson at Forest Park Medical Center. I don't know anyone that has had this procedure, and it would be great to know someone that has recently had the surgery and/or will be having it shortly.

    March Roll Call!

Hey Everyone! Today marks 4 weeks post op. I've lost 33 lbs since the pre-op diet, and 23 since surgery. My starting weight was 257, and now I'm 224. The thought of food is very frustrating to me. For one, some foods don't taste the way I remember them, and I can only eat a few spoonfuls. Eating out with friends isn't what it used to be either. I'm usually done after a few bites, then I spend the rest of the time talking to them while they eat. While getting dressed for work this morning, I realized its time to buy new pants. The first pair I tried on was way too big, and the 2nd was big, but I needed something to wear to work. So, I get to go shopping this weekend. My best friend for 15 years has been acting weird lately. She's been making comments like, I don't want to be your fat friend, I wish I could lose the weight, maybe if I was on your diet I could lose weight like you. Are any of you experiencing anything like this? If so, how are/ did you handle it? (sigh) On a brighter note, keep up the good work everyone, I love reading your posts.

I've never been in a hospital before, therefore this was my first procedure/surgery ever. My pre-op diet was hard at first, but I did get used to it. On the day of surgery, I had to arrive at the hospital at 4:30am. In the surgery holding area, I changed into my gown, and an IV was started. Once the IV was started my family was able to visit with me. I was visited by the Dr., the anesthesiologist, the surgical nurse during that time as well. I remember being wheeled out of the holding area, then waking up in recovery. When I got to my room, I was still pretty out of it, but I remember that my mouth was extremely dry. I wasn't allowed to have anything to drink until the following day. Chapstick came in handy. They did allow me to swish water around in my mouth and spit it out. Not to scare you, but it was the worse pain I have ever felt in my life. The first few days suck, but it gets better. Get up and walk as much as possible. Trust me it helps. I was constipated for about a week and a half after surgery. Now I go about once or twice a day. At about 2 1/2 weeks post-op, I'm in no pain. Just discomfort if I sit or lay for too long. If you have any specific questions, feel free to just ask. I wish you two the best of luck with your surgeries. Keep me posted.

    March Roll Call!

Oh I don't mind. My doctor is Dr. Nicholson of the Nicholson Clinic. June of this year will mark my 6th year in Dallas.

    March Roll Call!

LOL...I'm sure those are normal thoughts. I had my surgery exactly two weeks after my consultation, so I didn't really have time to think about it. I was so busy with the pre-op diet, scheduling pre-op lab work, pre-op class, and my cardiac clearance. Plus my mom was admitted into the hospital a week before my surgery. It didn't actually hit me until I was waiting in the lobby at the hospital.

I'm doing better everyday. Thank you. I go back to work next week, so I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for that.
