    No Pre Op Diet?

you will not affect the size of your liver in one week. if it is enlarged you can still have the surgery but they have to be careful and not nick it. mine was enlarged and it got nicked and I have lost over 200 lbs since but my liver is still enlarged. so it's an issue but u won't be helping the surgical field in one week of liquid dieting. that's my opinion only and I am not a medical professional. good luck on your journey!

WLS Veteran is back and looking for support

i resemble your experiences, barb. i was sleeved dec 2011. lowest wt was 188. starting 425. kept wt around 190 til recently: fractured knees, ankle, severe arthritis, torn tendons, rotator cuffs shot, and now, heart disease. (huffpuff) wt is 209. in caridio rehab but very unstable moving actually afraid to move sometimes. am really isolated, lost most support people from 'natural causes' over the years...still trying to cling to Keto. never went back to simple carbs. wish u the best. oh, i was 67 when i had my surgery...that doesnt help. i know we cant do it til we are ready...but waiting too long is a luxury we cant afford.
  3. I've not eaten too much of anything "bad" and absoluty no simple carbs AT ALL. I can eat a whole fruit (plumb, peach, apple] with cheese or peanut butter and feel satisfied...but not for long. Maybe 45 to 60 minutes. I will eat several stalks of celery and humus oralmond butter after that. And an hour later I am scrounging again. I do not think I have much restriction at all.

    Black and White Thinking.

Ldyvenus...uh oh. No. Jerkey has added sugar. I cheat on baby carrots and humus. Celery and Peanut Butter 70ŕ cocoa choc chips, hatlrd boiled eggs, 15 cal ice pops...kale 'chips' plain greek yog with splashes if no cal fkavorinfs like pumpkin, caramel, choc. Etc. I dont haveto worry abt other people and what they eatso its a bit eaaier for me than you. But indo voluunteerat a foid concession for bingoplayers and.everyobw else is nibblibg candy. I dont tpuch it. I KNOW i have no control and cant eat one. So avoid it as if my life dependedon that...and it kinda does.

    Black and White Thinking.

Yes. I struggle with that type of thinking even now so many years after my vsg. You are almost there and everyone has doubts just before. None of us is perfect. Not a single soul. We all entertain these frightening thoughts. Hopefully you have some support system around you? A friend? Family? Shrink? Doc? I had that and i took an anti anxiety pill. Did try to distract with yoga and other weird quirky stuff. Don't aim for perfect. Aim for good enough Bruno Bettleheimwrote a book many years ago called the good enough parent. Most parents are just good enoughand most kids turn out just fine. You will, too.
  6. thats good to hear that someone is not struggling. there is a nurse at a different providors office who also has good success w ith her lap band after many years. imho people who dix not have tttat much to lose have a longersuccessful time remaining at. goal. i also think older people have qucker reversals. its not a scientifi c opinion...just my idle guess.

    Despicable thoughts

    Swim and climb...thanks...very helpful post.
  8. Hi guys. Id been compaining abt wt gain and lack of stamina etc since i got back from wales in 2014. Thiss week my card did an ECHO and found that my diastolic something ornother doesnt fully contract on that cycle so he rxd spironolactone and i have lost 6 lbs in 4 days. I was and am on lasix but this new med is very strange. It makes me nauseated and does make me feel like im on speed. I love not having to force myself to do something. I love not curtailing my activities because the thpught of getting in smd out of the car is too much. But i am terrified about what this means and how i am going to shift into yet another phase, here. So i did not gain because i missed the accolades. I dont know what made me so hungry. I dont know why the addition of this drug at a small dosage is so potent. Anyone else have this experience? I have to lose about 4 to get back to under 200 again.

    Dangerous request?

But doesn't that eliminate any growth in the discussion? Are you trying to keep people out? I would want to meet more people as a single rather than bar anyone

    switcheroo

Hi all. I've been mucking along o.k.on my own til this week. I started on 12/5/11 at 326# and at my lowest was 189 last Friday. I did not have a single cold, sniffle, cough, sneeze or any upper respiratory pblm til 3 weeks ago. Started out sneezing my head off and constant dry/sore throat. Went to doc and got allergy med xyzal. That worked well. Then was too tired to go to the gym. Would plan to, dress for it snd simply couldn't. By middle d lower bsck started to hurt seriously. ..the pain was hsndicapping...so we started physical therapy after several xrays showed no structural damages. The electrical stimulation really helped! But last friday, coughing and blowing my head off I went bsck to doc. Dx? Bronchitis. Rx? Antib, mucinex, cough med, two inhalers, rest and no exercise for 5 days. Felt better and was pleased to be at that lowest weight. Stopped the inhalers fri and was ok fri and sat but woke up gasping today and hungry as a bear. I cant stop feeling hunger. Sinus pain galore...my teeth are killing me, and im starving. What the <foul mouth words unwritten> is going on? Feel like a freak of nature. Anyone else share this ecperience? How did u handle it? Thanks for reading this uninspiring drivel aNd sorry ro burden u with it.

    Getting In Your Water Requirement

Sorry but o.j. is off limits. No liquids with calories are permitted by my surgeon. Good luck on your journey.
  18. Right,,,its tofu...has 20 calories in 4ounces...a gram of protein and, like the oldtime ,'shmoos', can be flavored to taste like anything plus if u do like pasta u could almost close your eyes and think u were eating it. BUT it aint pasta...u can get it in the health food store for 1.29a package. Requires parboiling as prep.
  19. The nurse told me milk of magnesia...i erased that email and cooked some prunes in water in the microwave. Ate prunes, drank water, lived to tell abt it. The fewer chemicals, the better.
