Got High At Macy's!
I am down to 253 now, 335 at my highest. My classy nephew gave me a very nice Kenneth Cole watch that I couldn't wear for a long time because it was too tight. Yesterday I looked at the time and just saw watch band. The thing had spun around my skinny wrist and the face was now underneath! My wife had to put a little plastic tube thingy on my wedding ring to keep it from flying across the room during one of my gesturing rants! The pants I bought a month ago now look like Bozo pants on me. These things would be annoying if they weren't indicators of a tremendous victory in my life. I am still me underneath. Fat, you never did define me!!.!

I Want Starbucks! Help
I am 3 months out and have been a hard core coffee-head for a long time. I have found that coffee itself doesn't bother me other than the added acid and the fact that it increases my appetite. The biggest problem is the volume. I have solved that by ordering straight expresso. At this precise time I have a quadruple expresso in front of me and I am in the World's Greatest Coffee Shop.....Grounds For Thought in Bowling Green, Ohio. Their coffee is the max, no better treatment of a bean has ever been accomplished. The cup is just half full but the coffee-ness is intense! Just the right volume for a leisurely rainy day trying out my new IPad 3 at my favorite shop at my favorite forum. You may have surmised that my excess verbosity has somewhat to do with my caffein indulgence. I would have to concur.

It's Sad...
The way I look at it is that my appearance is not a big problem for me because I don't stare into a mirror 24/7. I feel better, my clothing does not annoy me as much, and I am healthier. If folks think I am too skinny that is their problem, not mine. I don't have to look at me, they do. My problem starts when I care what they think. When they start talking like nincompoops my care level recedes quite rapidly. I have enough folks around me that love me no matter what I look like. I have no dire need of the superficial that express their vacant opinions at my expense.

Allow Me To Introduce Myself
Welcome!!!! There are a lot of great, supportive folks on this forum. You can ask just about anything and for the most part get compassionate answers. If there is something you are worrying about, that would be what to bring up to doc. Are you settled on the sleeve or is he talking about the Roux N Y as well? My doc tried to lean me toward the Roux N Y but I opted for the sleeve which he was good with. The only dumb question is the one you didn't ask.

Psychology Exam, Wtf?
$100 for me. I made the mistake of telling him I was a hippy in the 60's...for 2 years. The insurance company rejected me because of my "drug abuse and radical lifestyle". I was clean since 1968 and was cured of hippytightus. The surgeon sent off an immediate appeal, I was accepted after the new year and the new co-pays were in force. Be careful what you tell them. I think some get kick-backs from the insurance companies.

Got High At Macy's!
I went to the mall with my family last Saturday and found my way to the Macy's men's department. I started trying on sport coats and suit jackets. The more I did, the more giddy I became. What a joy to stand in front of a mirror in good clothing and and look good! I wouldn't even go over there a couple months ago, nothing fit and a trial of depression was certain to occur. A sales lady came over and I gushed out my entire WLS story to her. I don't know if she shared my enthusiasm or not, drunk people like me are more concerned with self expression than communication. I didn't buy anything. At those prices I will hit my goal first. Got high nonetheless. Sleeving is so very worth it!

Body Odor?!
Puberty again! Does this mean the involuntary yoddelling will return?

Body Odor?!
I know I am out of place in this thread but might I put forth my theory? Burning fat and eating less may release toxins that are excreted out of these various places. I have fasted at times and my breath was lethal, ketosis does that. I would think that eventually the smells would leave as the body cleans up itself. Water speeds it along and proper elimination. Like I said, just a theory. Ok, I will duck out.

Husband A Jerk Before And After Surgery
I know I am quite capable. But I know that I am much less a jerk than I was when I was younger and quite arrogant. My dear wife stayed with me through my thoughtless self-centeredness and somehow saw something appealing in me. I am now very embarrassed about the way I was then. Her touching care for me during my prostate cancer treatment broke down the last of my resistance to her love. I now have the emotional freedom to treat her like my dearest and best friend.

Missrepresentation
"You have a bobble head." My comeback: "A pinhead would think that!"

Missrepresentation
I think people call you too skinny because they are too lazy to adjust. They are used to relating to the larger you and it requires too much depth of character for them to realize that you are the same person. Too skinny in what way? Healthwise? Have them site their medical reasons and test results. Aesthetics? Every see a super-model? Survival? Expecting an extended famine and the extra fat will be needed? Sheesh! If I wasn't married to a people I wouldn't have anything to do with them.

Me And My Relationship With Cereal Has To End! Ugh!
I am 3 months post-op and have found a need for cereal, just not the sugary kind. I take a small amount of Fiber One with a little skim milk and Splenda. Part of my program is keeping my bowels regular. The cereal combined with 2 figs a day, some salad, a few walnuts, and proper Water drinking is doing the trick. I got a piece of wrapped candy the other day and had to spit it out. The ultra-sweetness disgusted me. One can lose the craving.

Dl Face Pics
........................ Thanks, everyone!!!! When my wife first brought up bariatric surgery I raved in opposition. I had an airtight case for opposing it using the "like having a gun to your head" analogy. Then I did some internet research and the clincher: I went to a support group meeting held by the surgeon. When it was over I flabbergasted my wife by announcing that I not only supported her but was considering it for myself. I nobly told her that if the ship was sinking, I would go down with her. As it turned out, the ship was the Titanic, (the old fat life), we got into the lifeboat.

Me pretty Roux N Y wife's pics: Aug. 28, 2011 Apr. 21, 2012 She's going on a cruise and was rightfully concerned about being hassled by security about her license.

Dl Face Pics
Dec. 2009 Apr. 21, 2012 In 2009 I weighed 300 pounds and had just gone through radiation treatment, chemo, Lupron,(hormone therapy), and steroids for prostate cancer. I went up to 330 before I started my bariatric program. Today I weigh 254 and feel entirely different. I got tired of explaining the difference to folks I showed my drivers license to, so wife and I had new pics made today.

Green Tea Extract...yummy!
I have been taking green tea extract in the morning. My way is not for the weak of stomach. I put 1/2 teaspoon in a small cup, run some hot Water in it, put in some Splenda, stir, and slug her down. This has got to be the vilest most diabolical liquid ever to test the gag response. Why don't I take capsules? I think this extract powder, which I get from 1Fast400, is more potent at 50% EGCG. I tried a capsule machine but it was a supreme hassle to me. So I toughened up. Green tea has benefits as talked about by the 3 fat chicks on a diet website: Breakfast. No use prolonging the agony.

Monday Funday Question Of The Day!
I had a pretty good one yesterday. I mowed the lawn without heavy breathing and had energy to take my granddaughter to Dairy Queen, ( I know what you're thinking, I just had 1/2 cup of chili ).

Cpap - Will I Ever Get Used To This ?
My wife had Roux N Y in Dec. 2011 and is just now getting off of the Cpap that she has been on for many years. She has lost nearly 70 pounds. I have been on one for years as well and am on and off with it, close to getting off permanently. We take turns watching each other sleeping to make sure the snoring is minimal and no periods of breathing cessation. We both settled on the nose piece after numerous attempts at face masks, just less invasive. It does take a period of adjustment but it is a blessing when your oxygen levels and sleep improves.

Defeating The Vsg
I was having a conversation with my wife about how anyone could possibly defeat the VSG or a Roux N Y. Our only conclusion was eating all day long. As fast as room is made, put some more in. I have had days where head hunger would push me to do it if I let it. Resistence to stupidity is still required after bariatric surgery. The sleeve only takes us so far, our brain takes us home.

Eating Out On Vacation
I went on vacation to Florida April 1-7. I didn't weigh myself the whole time. I just followed the protein first rule and lots of water. I had lost 3 pounds I discovered when I weighed myself back home.. Lots of walking at Busch Gardens and fighting the surf with granddaughters at Siesta Key Beach no doubt brought about the suprising results.
