    Anyone with migraines

It is OTC. The brand is Ortho Molecular Products Reacted Magnesium. two tablets are 235 mg.
  2. Curious if anyone has had this. I have been suffering from terrible reflux. TERRIBLE! According to my surgeon my sleeve is riding up into my esophagus and causing the reflux. He says it can be fixed by doing a gastric bypass. I am 18 months past surgery.

    Gastric Sleeve to Gastric Bypass

I didn't have acid reflux before the surgery. I started on Prilosec after my surgery and could never get off of it. So they did scopes and test and this is what he found. The reflux has quite a bit pain with it.

    Everything I Eat

I am 6 weeks out and still hadn't lost that stuck feeling even with liquids. My doctor gave me a steriod dose pack thinking that I was swollen there and it was like a miracle. 6 days later the stuck feeling was gone. I actually feel normal again.
  6. Since Tuesday I have had a pain on my left side under my rib cage. Yesterday I started to get cramps in the same area any time I ate anything - including drinking Water. I could drink gatorade yesterday without the cramps but today no such luck. I am hoping just pulled a muscle or something but I am thinking I need to go to my doctor. However its Sunday and I really don't relish a trip to the ER and having to explain to 100 residents about the gastric sleeve. Any advice?

    Is Actigall Necessary?

My coworker never took any medication after the sleeve and just had her gallbladder out. I am happily taking my medication!

    Night Sweats Anyone?

Yes, I did I actually posted this about 2 weeks ago. It has gone away now - I am 19 days out. that week it seemed that I run a low grade fever all week and when I took tylenol (Cut up) before bed I didn't get night sweats. It went away about 14 days out. Not fun! Especially if you live in a cold climate like I do.

    Vitamins Post-op

I am taking Bariatric Advantage. 2 multi Vitamins (chewable a day) 1 Iron supplement (chewable) 1 calcium supplement (crystals you dissolve in water) but was also told I could take Vicatv (not sure if thats the name but they are the choclate chewy ones you can buy at the grocery store 2 Vitamin D (1000 each time) According to the dietician at my clinic you have to take the supplements over a days time for maximum effectiveness. Your body can only absorb so much at a time.
  11. My pain went away probably day 3 or 4. Now I just have general stiffness and fatigue. My big challenge has been fluids. Today is day 17 and I actually feel good. Following my eating/water plan to the T and it has made a big difference Going to try work on Monday. I warned them - may not make a whole day - the fatigue is still pretty overwhelming.

    Early Signs Of Dehydration?

Mine was rapid pulse and dropping blood pressure. If you even suspect dehydration call your doctor. Don't mess with it.
  13. I have learned a lot from this forum. Thank you to everyone. Thought I would pass along my experience. I was sleeved 12/5. First week was bad but not totally unbearable. Mostly because my husband stayed home with me and "watched" me and made sure I was eating, etc. I had read about plenty of people on this board and in articles who went back to work after one week. I decided I would try working from home. I was eating on the regular schedule but not drinking enough (I am on full liquids). Wednesday, after working 2.5 days at home I had my first post op appointment and found out not only did I have a fever, I was severely dehydrated. The staff at the doctors office gave me an i.v. but later decided to send me to the hospital. So I got to spend another day in the hopsital and was told NO WORK. Which is very hard for me. So my advice is, when the doctors tell you to plan a certain time off, listen!!! Also, drink your Water. Today has been one of my hardest days post op because I am on my own again and the Doctor's staff gave me a strict drink at this time for 1.5 hours, eat at this time for 1/2 hour. I know it will get better. I know that from everyone who has posted. This too shall pass. But nothing like feeling like an idiot when I realized and had to confess that I probably wasn't even get 36 ounces of water in me. So thanks for listening and thanks for all the advice from this board!

    Just A Word Of Caution

I am going to try to the Gatorade because plain water gets so boring!'
  15. I have a coworker who had the sleeve 2 years ago. Good news - she lost 200 LBS!!!! Bad news - her doctor never told her to take Ursidol (spelling?). She had her gallbladder out Wednesday (this week) and had 12 stones. So believe me - I am sucking down that pill every day even though it is huge. I personally had a gallbladder attack, fortunately not severe enough to have removed after doing the HMR diet at my doctor. They had prescribed it that time also, but of course I knew better. This time I am not taking any chances. The sleeve was enough fun - I want to keep my gallbladder.
  16. Had surgery on Monday, period started Wednesday Super heavy and lasted 7 full days. Hopefully next months is better!
  17. Thanks everyone for responding. The Protein shake thing is intriguing because last night I had greek yogurt before bed and no night sweats. The other day I drank 2 ounces of bolthouse Protein Drink (which is delicious) and then an hour later drank 2 ounces more. It was like I was drunk. Terrible feeling. Only think I could figure out was too much sugar at a time when I am having to readjust to digest. Also, I am sweating during the day. So, while I do think some of this is horomonal and might pass I am definitely going to watch on the Protein shakes and see if I can find a relationship.
  18. Sleeved on monday December 5. Since coming home from the hospital I wake up 1 to 3 times a night covered in sweat. Very pleasant in the tropical air of Detroit Michigan right now. Not taking pain meds, have been taking acid reducer and tylenol twice per day. Any thoughts? As an extra giftl my period started Wednesday - could it be from wild hormones? Thanks everyone!
  19. At 6 days pre op my sleeve doesn't like Water. Not even lukewarm water. Sits there gurgling away. It loves apple juice cut with water and seems to like HMR shakes made into "pudding". Guess we will find out more about each other in the coming months!
  20. You must feel great. The "guys" have been eating in front of me since Tuesday and nothing. I crave a LARGE, cold glass of Water that I do not have to sip, sip, sip. The head hunger is hard. Last night I was craving garlic bread. I was rationilizing how I could soak it and make it able to be eaten. This from the person who can't drink more than 2 ounces of liquid.
  21. Okay, experts - please help. Have not bm'd since Sunday (Decembe4r 4, had surgery December 5). Is it okay to take benefiber? Am I worrying too soon? Thanks.
  22. Since I am only five days I will give my experience. Checked in at 6:00 Am. Hospital pre op staff was incredibly nice and explained every single thing they did. No question was too silly. Woke up in my room with my in laws sitting there keeping watch. Unfortunately I think I should have avoided the pain pump. I think it contributed to my grogginess. I had a bad roommate - not a bariatric patient but someone with a horrible injury. Not her fault of course but hard to rest when the drugged up person next to you has arguments with the staff all night regarding her pain meds. I couldn't have asked for better staff. I either had someone there constantly or when I rang the bell they were there instantly. I didn't have a drain but the cather was in for 24 hours (yuck!). I was up walking within 4 hours of surgery - not far to be sure - but at least down the hall. Also had to have the leak test before they would release on day two. Then ate delicious popiscle and cream of chicken Soup. When that stayed down they sent me home. So no complaints regarding my hoptial stay!
  23. I am on day 5 of PTO. I wish I could go back on Monday but still pretty week. Our short term disability only kicks in at 14 business days off which is b.s. because it is completely employee paid and not $1.00 employer paid. Oh well, as least I have pto!
  24. My surgery is scheduled for 12/5. I currently take Allerga D for mold allergies among other allergies. My surgeon told me not to take any pills for 30 days after surgery. That all medicine either has to be opened up if capsules or switch to liquid. I asked my Diet Doctor who referred me to the surgeon and she told me she had never heard of such a thing. Fortunately I had the letter to show her from the surgeon. She told me to call the surgeon, who said, yes, it is precautionary and they stick by their recommendation and to call my family doctor. SO, has anyone else ever had this problem? I really don't want to go 30 days with no allergy medicine because that will result in a nice sinus infection. I can take bendaryl by in the mouth strips but I really need the decongesant. Thanks for any advice.

    Allergy Medicine

That is what they gave me liquid Claritin. The primary care doctor said absolutely no decongestants after surgery. I am sure I can live with the Claritin but it sure looks yucky in the bottle!
