  1. MissE posted a blog entry in My Journey
Almost 2 months out from surgery. I am on a steady losing streak. I am THRILLED! I am currently down a little more than 30 pounds! I look better but more importantly I FEEL better!! It has been a little harder than I expected it to be, but I think I am finally figuring out my new stomache. I eat VERY LITTLE, but never feel hungry. That part if pretty cool. I have been pretty good about taking my vitamins, but I know I am not being great about getting in the protein I should be getting. I am working on that. I went back to work a couple weeks ago... that was rough. My fatigue is getting better and my stamina is finally coming back, but whoa that was a rough road!! I slept a lot that first month. None of my friends know about my surgery. Only my family... CLOSE family. Nobody seems suspicious yet... I am worried someday that will change. My weight has always been a roller coaster ride for me, so I am sure they are all just thinking it is another one of those "fad diets" I am currently trying. This time there will be no gaining it back... I am thrilled. Can't wait to post the "I MADE IT TO MY GOAL WEIGHT" blog someday in my future!!

Photo's from where I started... my Journey and someday my goal weight.
  3. Hiccups are a sign of being full for me as well. I try to breathe in as I hiccup so that it doesn't hurt as bad. I only hiccup once or twice and they usually go away...
  4. I am 1 month 2 days post op. I feel your frustration on the "slow" movement of the scale!! Both of my sisters had WLS and they lost their wait so incredibly fast!! There are days I don't lose anything... sometimes up to 2-3 days in a row! I get irritated. I am still pretty weak, and my energy level is still pretty low... I am trying to incorporate exercise but I am limited due to fatigue. I figure I am eating about 500 calories per day... and I know I am not getting my protien that I am suppose to be getting.... I wonder if eating too little could slow things down? I wish you the very best of luck!! I am sure in a year we are going to look back and laugh at how impatient we are being now... Here's to a wonderful year in our new and improving bodies!!
  5. It sounds like you've gotten some great advice here, but I wanted to add one thing. I was sleeved on Dec. 16th and found that mornings were especially difficult for me. I was advised to never let my pouch (tummy) get empty. Since being told that I sip (even if its water) all day and even wake up at night to sip. It has helped a LOT! I just moved on to mushy foods today so I'm hoping I will continue to improve! Best of luck to you and happy new year!
  6. I am glad to read about supportive PCP's!! I go next Thursday to let my doctor know that I was sleeved on Dec 16th. I am not sure I want (or need?) to tell him that the procedure was done in Mexico. Regardless of how he is going to feel about my choice... there is no lecture in the world that can change what is already done. . . Or at least that is what I am telling myself prior to this dreaded appointment! I have asked about WLS in the past and he was always saying no. He would harp on me that my BMI was not high enough.... (I am 5'4" and weighed in at 200 lbs. ... how high is "enough?) I would leave his office with a "Heart Healthy" diet plan and cry myself to the nearest gallon of ice cream. I TRIED every diet on the planet! I needed a doc to realize that some of this was simply the "fat gene" that I lovingly inherited from my family.... Now it's done. I hope my PCP is as forgiving & understanding as those mentioned above!! Best of luck to everyone on the weight loss journey!
  7. I'm 4days out today. I hope its normal cuz I get similar pains... I think its the gas. But ask your doc when he comes in to be sure!!! Congratulations! Best of luck & quick healing wishes to you!
  8. Well it was a stressful start, but I'm sleeved. I am really sore (more than my other sleeve buddies I met) and i'm constantly fighting nausea. I'm in able to SIP Water and hold it down so that's what I'm trying to do. I'm trying apple juice now, as I wait for my plane ride home... its hard to keep down so I'm alternating between juice & water. I'm terrified to try taking a pain pill.... I really don't want to throw up. Hiccups are also playing hell on me. Any suggestions?
  9. Nobody is answering. Drivers phone goes straight to voice mail. Coming up on 2 hours waiting. All I can do is laugh at this point. Wish I could go drink a cocktail! I'm sure this will be a minor bump in the road... still frustrating.
  10. Still waiting. Been waiting for over an hour. I'm just nervous & not eating or drinking today has made me a little crabby. Hoping any minute now ...
  11. So we're here. Its 2:25 and we were suppose to be picked up at 2. I'm thirsty. I'm hungry. I'm cranky. Surgery is suppose to be today at 6pm. I'm worried there wont be enough time for pre op tests. I really don't want to "rush" through the process that took me years to decide to do. Frustrated.
  12. Awesome!! I am heading to my local GNC today... I figured they were likely the best place to shop. Thank you for the tip & the PRAYER!! They are GREATLY appreciated!
  13. Today is the last "pre-op" day for the rest of my life. I am excited.... scared to death.... hopeful..... happy.... sad..... anxious. All of my emotions are on overload. I am running into town to get my hair done (since it may be awhile before I feel up to going... and the holidays are here) my nails done... and to buy any last minute items needed for post-op. High protien liquid drinks? Any suggestions? I have found a few that I can tolerate the taste of, but they're not "clear".... they are sort of colored depending on the flavor.... does that matter? I keep hearing "Clear liquids only" after surgery for a week.... can they have color? Just not more than Water consistency? Please say a prayer for me as I take this final leap of faith on this journey. I am flying out tomorrow morning to San Diego then driving into Tijuana, Mexico. I will have my surgery tomorrow evening. I hope to be posting updates soon thereafter.
  14. I'm going to Dr. Rodriguez in Tijuana. Where are you going?? When are you going? Best of luck to you too!!
  15. I'm 39 years old. Good health. No health concerns... other than low blood pressure. BMI is 31.
  16. Okay... I'm freaking out a little. I'm having surgery THIS Friday in Mexico. Should I tell my doctor HERE before I go?? I literally have tomorrow to do so. Should I have blood work done first? A physical? Crumbs!!! I'm panicking a little.
  17. Saying a prayer for a smooth surgery & a quick recovery! My surgery is Friday!! Good luck!
  18. Awesome update!! Keep posting I hope you feel better soon!!
  19. I am certainly concerned about the excess skin as well. I carry my weight mostly in my legs and butt... I also have quite large breasts... SO I am hoping that if there is any cosmetic surgery in my future it is limited to breast augmentation.... I pray my skin will be forgiving.... although I have STRETCHED it to its limits I am sure... Best of luck Ladies!!
  20. I can SO relate!! I am being sleeved THIS Friday!! I am a mother of 2 (almost grown) children ... and all I can think about is what would happen to them if I didn't come home. My husband told me last night that the odds of dying in a car crash on the way to surgery is FAR greater than the risk of dying during surgery. I don't know if those odds are accurate... but I do believe that the odds ARE in our favor. I am sure that we will all come out of this okay.... I pray everyday (I am very spiritual but don't attend church as much as I probably should) and that helps. I wish you the best of luck... and look forward to seeing your post-op posts about how silly your fear was. I intend to post the same.
  21. I am being sleeved THIS Friday My pre-op diet consists of HIGH protien LOW carbs... which is really the ultimate diet after surgery when "normal" foods are started. I was told that I need to keep my carbs under 50 carbs a day... which is actually much easier than you'd think. The pre-op diet (for me) is much like the Atkins diet only HIGH protien is really pushed. If you end up having to do low carb, feel free to message me for some AWESOME low carb reicpes that taste like heaven. Samples: Mashed Cauliflower (in place of potatoes) Home made Blue cheese salad dressing Wrap ideas (to replace sandwiches) No-Low carb candy ideas Anyway.... I wish you MUCH luck in your journey! I am currently so excited that there are no words! Cheers to a new You in the New Year!!
  22. Any other sleevers headed to TJ this week? I leave on Friday morning (From Seattle) and will be sleeved THAT evening!! I was originally scheduled for a Saturday surgery but got the call that a spot opened up on Friday. I thought an extra day of healing prior to flying might be a good idea.... now I am nervous about that decision. Well.... I am nervous PERIOD. I am not overly worried about the surgery, more worried about flying home so soon afterward. I would love to hear from others who have already done all of this..... Maybe put my mind at ease. I have an amzaing husband who is going with me, THANK GOD. He has been so over the top wonderful.... I am so blessed. I couldn't imagine going through this alone. He even started dieting right after Thanksgiving so that he will "be worthy" of his "trophy wife" HAHAHAHA He cracks me up! The funny thing is that he SAYS the word diet and the weight melts off. He is down 17 lbs. in 3 weeks. He amazes me. He weighs 215 now!! He is MORE THAN WORTHY!! Anyway.... just wanted to see if there were any other wonderful people out there getting ready to journey to Mexico... or anyone who has already been there done that. Best of luck to all!!!
  23. Great information! I am having surgery this Friday so all the information I can get my hands on is helpful. I love this site as I have found so many great ideas and advice on here! When I ask my doctor about the the info I have read here he has always said it is accurate! I will always check with my doc before trying anything... but honestly this site is more helpful than HE is!
