  1. im one week out of the surgery and the only way for me to cope with not eating solid foods is to cook. Weird yes, just how it works for me. I made this for my mother. chicken in garlic lime saurce. Take 4 chicken breasts.....cut them in half. Salt them, then use fresh ground pepper. Then take a large ziploc bag and pour all purpose flour in it. Take the chicken breast pieces and put them in the bag and do the shake and bake style of mixing. then get yourself ready made cloves of garlic, get about 2 heads of garlic worth....dice them up,then take about a cup worth of butter. Pour the butter into a skillet, throw in the garlic into the skillet...sautee them to a light golden color. Add in chicken pieces. cook them on both ends for about 15-20 minutes. take some limes, cut them into quarters. squeeze the juice onto the chicken pieces and then add a dash of lemon pepper seasoning. Make some white rice you got protien, some minor carbs and your good to go.
  2. I've just started the puree diet on Friday and I noticed that as I get very thirsty the compulsion to gulp liquid is very much there. I've done it and everytime i am getting an airbubble coming back up my throat and i have to burp to release the pressure. It feels every time like i just drank 2 liters of soda with carbonation. Will this be permanent? Or will this go away?
  3. is 6 months the usual wait time for the swelling to finally go away?
  4. I was out yesterday coming in from my check up with the surgeon and was out quite in the sun walking around and spent some time in the waiting room for my doctor. I had only my crystal light in the morning to drink. When done at the doctor's I bought a 16oz bottle of poland spring. I am in my 2nd week of liquids and found myself sipping the entire bottle in under an hour which i thought was impossible. Apparently my surgeon told me everyone responds different to the surgery and only you can know your limit. So I am wondering how did i manage to fit pretty much the entire bottle even with just sipping in under an hour. 2nd,do we have to sip for the rest of our lives or can i actually gulp liquid down in a few months?
  5. I've finally moved on to the puree stage and I had bought some ice cream sandwhiches that have no added sugar. The ice cream without added sugar had more grams of sugar in it. this one only has 3 per bar. It went down fine,i chewed every bite to make sure the choclate top and bottom part were as mushed up as possible. Then I drank some Water after. Thing I notice through the whole time since the surgery is the annoying wave of nausea i get that seems to come and go every time i try to either gulp liquid or even Jello. Is this is supposed to be permanent?? I have to force myself to burp to get rid of anything built up after i swallow to make it pass quicker. btw,can anyone tell me if those packets of lipton noodle Soups are allowed at this stage?? the noodles are those really super small ones.

    When can we stop sipping?

actually im short by today's standards. 5' 7 at best. Just stocky. My surgeon told me she just used a really small bougie on me. Don't know what that means?
  8. I understand that sexual activity is not allowed for the usual 30 days. Curious to know if that also applies to masturbating?
  9. Hello to all, I just recently had my VGS done this past wednesday and was out by Friday. I am fortunate in that I heal fast. I notice that I find myself becoming more concerned about the complications after all is said and done. My surgeon said after 6-8 weeks the stomach has absorbed the staples and sutures. What i find that I am having trouble understanding is how this is called an irreversible procedure yet many have said the stomach can stretch out again. Does this mean it can grow back to the size it was previously or that it can stretch to a bigger holding capacity and that is it? Another part of me questions what I have done. I was around 354lbs,but i always worked out but found out my metabolism had stalled,my sleep apnea was at a superbad level. Yet no matter how hard i worked and even with just Protein shakes and a regular meal of broiled chiken or lean meat,i still could not drop weight. Now a day before surgery im 350,i check myself today. and im 337. To me though it's more a component of being on a liquid diet rather than anything else. Im just wondering if i gave up good times with my family eating out at restaurants and not being able to finish a plate that has 2 sides and one main dish. Not that i do that all the time, just I don't want to enjoy 1/4 a plate then get full and the smell would still be tempting me even though i feel full. Am I only the only one to have these feelings of uncertainty? I am not an emotional eater or a stress eater. I eat because I enjoy it. I even love to cook. I know i did this for my health. I just feel unsure.
  10. I was just looking through my guidelines and im curious why fruits with skins are to be injested even after 6-8 week period? It feels awkward in that it is said that VGS you are not restricted in what you can eat but it feels like quite a few things won't be able to go down even after the stomach heals completely.
  11. I have read that one of the concerns or downsides of this procedure is that the stomach tube can stretch to accomodate more. What I don't understand is,i can't even gulp 4 ounces without getting hit with a wave of nausea. So how is it possible to even make it expand?? Also, isn't the part of the stomach that was removed the part that is stretchy while what is left isn't supposed too??

    1 week since surgery

I was sleeved on 6/8/11 and i recovered quick. I am getting really sick and tired of the Protein shakes. the diluted chicken broth. I've also developed rashes around some of my incision sites. My biggest issue is that I get thirsty really easily and sometimes don't want to sip and just want to gulp it down buy i get nausea when I do. I've lost 24lbs since the surgery. So in the weightloss dept im knocking it out. I just want to be able to at least gulp it without having to sip.
  13. I was sleeved last wednesday. Been doing crystal light/diet snapple/sugar free pops and sugar free Jello. I have to wait to to Friday of next week to finally get off of it. Meanwhile Im really craving something else. Problem is that in my guidelines from my hospital the only other option is Miso Soup. The only problem is I have a similar kinda like lipton chicken flavored noodle soup. the ones in packets that the noodles are super small. Problem is I don't know if it's safe to take that since nothing but miso soup is listed. ANyone got any advice or pointers?
  14. Well my primary fear has been about the leakage. Problem is waiting 6-8 weeks for it to be permanently healed so the worry is off my head. Now I had never heard of a sleeve bursting???? Now that gives me alot of cause for concern. So if one night a year from now I want two slices of pizza instead of one I could actually cause it to rupture because it exceeds the 4 ounce minimum? This is where i get my concerns from,I don't want to push it on myself if im still feeling hunger but it's beyond my stomach limit.
