Bruising
Okay, something just occurred to me that is a little embarrassing to admit. The embarrassing part is that I didn't think of this sooner. I did a lot of walking yesterday and during all that walking the waistband of my pants really irritated that area. Now I'm thinking that the bruise was caused by that irritation.

Bruising
I had my surgery on Monday, July 8th so that makes me five days post-op. Anyway, I noticed last night around 8:00 pm that I have a bruise about the size of the palm of my hand over by my belly button. It wouldn't be from the heparin injections because those were administered in my thighs. Anyway, I was wondering what this is from and if I should be concerned.

july 2013 sleevers
My pre-op diet isn't that bad. I'm allowed one solid meal a day for two weeks. The other two meals are protein shakes. Two days before the surgery, though, I have to start a liquid diet.

The Official What You Will Need For Your Upcoming Weightloss Surgery Thread!
I don't know if anyone's mentioned this before, but bring an extension cord. The outlets usually aren't close enough to allow you to use your phone while it's plugged in.

July 8 Roll Call
I'm excited! The "OMG what am I thinking" feeling hasn't set in. I'm not having any food funerals right now. I had my food funerals before I started my insurance diet and now I'm good in that department.

July 2013 sleevers
I got my date today! It's July 8th! I'm a little anxious because my surgeon likes a 2 week pre-op diet but the date is less than 2 weeks away! I started the diet tonight. I happened to have a support group meeting tonight and my dietitian was there and I talked to her about it; she said it would be okay.

Looking for some info on Sleeve! Was thinking of having the Lap Band but I'm starting to lean towards the sleeve.
I haven't heard great things about the band. With the band, you're still hungry all the time. With the sleeve, when they cut out most of the stomach, a lot of the hunger hormone is gone too so you aren't really hungry. With the band, the weight loss isn't as much. Another thing is the band can slip and also the band can erode into your stomach.

Smoking
I don't smoke, but my doctor said in the free information session that he absolutely will not operate on a smoker because smoking greatly increases the risk of ulcers. Also, he didn't see the point of treating the number two killer in America if you still engage in the number one killer.
