Walking
I was walking some on day 2, forget sooner. I did that much because I wanted out. I am able to walk more on Day 4 (today) but it feels like I am hunched over. I just wanted to see where everyone was, or if I was just being a lazy wuss about pain. i am glad that I am not the only one taking it slowly. Thank you

Walking
Walk Walk Walk. I read that every time I come on here. What I want to know is, how can you walk so much after surgery? I am on day 4 and it still hurys to walk. Maybe I am a wuss, maybe it is because I had 7 incisions, but it hurts. i am able to take tylenol for the pain, but there is still pain. i also have a weird swelling around one incision. When I go back on Friday, I will point it out, but besides the gas pain, it hurts there the worse. I am just curious about the people that are up and walking through malls and shopping areas 2 or 3 days out. How do you do it?

3 days post op....am I consuming too much?
I am the same way with the higher amounts of liquids on day 3. I thought I was drinking too much, but i seem to be doing pretty good. I know I am staying hydrated. I can feel when I have enough liquids at the time, but I also can tell when i am free to try again. My doc has on her diet sip until you feel full. If liquids go straight thru, it makes sense that the protein takes longer to drink.

3rd day post op
I just had the surgery on Thursday, and haven't seen or had any problems. I was on ice chips until the leak test, and full liquids after that. I have been training myself to do the small sips. I found myself doing too big or sips, so I still put the same amount in my mouth, but only swallow half or part of it and swallow the rest in parts to make small sips. My problems are that I get the gas bubbles every time I drink and it isn't the most comfortable feeling. I hope it gets easier or less ticklish .

sleeved - 2 days ago
Congrats on making it thru. i had mine on Thursday also. Good luck on getting thru the haze. If it weren't for the scabs and the pain, I wouldn't know much had happened.

I'm Done!!
Just wanted to say that I had my surgery on Thursday and got home today. Besides having 7 new holes in my stomach, everything went well. i also got to catch up on my sleep that I had been missing. Now the fun begins, as I am off solids until June 10. I can do it.

Questions?
Thanks for the answers. I am just going through the nerves. i am currently on the train into Dallas to go to my mom's and am trying to focus on school work that I will be behind in after the surgery. I think I will still be nervous tomorrow at 6 am when I get to the hospital. I asked about the soap because I thought I smelled like the flea soap I use on my dogs, lol. I know it is the antibacterial soap, etc. i think it does wonders, it just stinks. Oh well, the hubby didn't notice it yesterday, so I guess I am good. Here's to nerves and one more day until I get onto the loser's bench. ( I think this is teh first time I can ever say that and not feel bad.)

Questions?
Ok, some questions here that have been bothering me: 1. Why do they advertise pizza on a weight loss website/forum? 2. Why do hospitals require you to shower with the stinkiest soap ever? 3. How long is the average stay on the various levels of the post-op diet? Like how long on liquids? Mushies? Some of the questions seem silly, but I am staring to get nervous about Thursday. I am getting stuff ready for the brat child to go with a friend tomorrow after school for the night, getting stuff ready for me to take to my mom's and then the hospital, afraid the hubby won't come to the hospital to see me ( I was told to plan to stay 2-3 mights), afraid I might get told that the weight I have lost is enough to prevent the surgery, afraid I could end up with the severe headache I had yesterday when I went to liquids (had to eat to get it to go away, but don't have to restrict myself until tomorrow), etc etc etc. I could some up with more, but am freaking myself out more. Anyway, if someone has any answers, etc I would love something... Thanks

Off Work
You guys might be right on the length of time. I think I will stick with the 10 days though. I will only have a week of work before school is out for the summer and I will have a ton of make-up work to complete. I also have a great team of coworkers that told me they would help me out when I need it. I love being a teacher because of the long break. I know when I go back in August i will be a totally different person.

Off Work
Sad but funny at the same time.... I have surgery Thursday and have to go to my mom's so she can drive me out. (Hubby has to deal with the child). Anyway to help me relax for everything, I get to take tomorrow off. With adding this off day for mental relaxation, I will officially be out 8 days, not including the two weekends. I have to go back for the last week of school... can't let them get awards without me. Does this seem like a reasonable time out? Am I nuts to go back after 10 real days post surgery?

What has been the most shocking comment about the sleeve at any stage (pre-op, post-op) or about your weight loss?
It surprises you what people say. I am scheduled for Thursday, found out today to be at the hospital at 6 am. My hubby and mom are fighting over who gets to take me. I think it is funny. Besides the nasty or ignorant comments made, there are some nice ones. i found out my mom researched the VSG after I told her that I was getting it done. She said she wanted to see what it was I was doing. She also took me shopping yesterday for some new clothes to be mini goals. She also has plans to ransack her closet. It is people like this that makes everything worth the snide comments.

BAD Insomnia
Don't scare me with the thought of insomnia. I already fight it, to the point I have a sleeping medication prescription. I was taken off of Ambien and started something else when I was awake for 2 days after taking it. Now, after reading what you guys are going through, I am afraid that I will have the insomnia worse than it is now.

Yay Me!!!
I am having the surgery through the V.A. Being listed as disabled, I get all my medical free. I found out they do WLS and started the process in October. It is finally happening on Thursday and can't wait!!! I want to go back to school in the Fall and be a totally different person. i know I will be. I think, or at least hope that I will have changes and have to wear dresses the last week that I go back to school after the surgery. I get to end the year with one week of work post surgery. Timing is great! lol Oh and I voted for you already. Got to do it again. i wish you luck with the contest!

Yay Me!!!
I'm excited because it is the first time in a large since my son was born 11 years ago. These shirts are also known to run small and shrink after washing. I held up the 2X and it looked like a nightgown. I told hubby all my spirit shirts for work are now nightgowns or lounge around the house shirts. I feel like I swim in them.

Yay Me!!!
I had to share with people that would understand. i haven't had surgery as yet, it is scheduled for next week, but I had such a wonderful thing happen today. We had to order field day t-shirts that will be used as the shirts we wear for convocation next year. i bought the size that I have been wearing, a 2x, as well as a large for next year. I, for giggles and grins, tried on the large. IT FIT!!! It was a little tight around the tummy area, but it fit. I would wear it for field day this year if I was a little more comfy with the tummy area and if it weren't for the fact I have surgery scheduled for that day. I now know it will fit in August comfortably. YAY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

High Protein Diet = Diarrhea?
I would have to go against what everyone else says and respond with a yes to you. i have a hard time with the protein shakes because it leads to bad gas and diarrhea. I think for me though, I have an allergy to the soy and to lactose so I am trying new proteins. If that is the only part of the diet that you have changed, it could be it.

What has been the most shocking comment about the sleeve at any stage (pre-op, post-op) or about your weight loss?
I can understand people's fears about going to mexico for surgery, as well as the side of the person who goes. My mom had major gastric/pancreatic surgery in Venezuela in 93. She had no choice to come back to the states, it had to be done. She went through a brand new surgery with flying colors. Recently she went to her dr here in DFW area and was told to stop trying to lose those 10 lbs. She wasn't supposed to be alive, so stop trying. It turns out the scary surgery she had overseas was only supposed to last 5 yrs at most. Seeing as it is almost 20 yrs past her surgery, i would have no qualms going overseas or out of country. I just went this way because it is nothing out of pocket for me. Plus I get re constructive surgery if I need it too. I say we iggie the people who feel we can do this if we follow their path, and go our own course.... it's more fun anyway.

Crystal Light
A friend of mine who had the bypass a few years ago swears in the MiO. I might just have to go get one. She loves it and you are the 2nd on to mention it to me. Thanks!

So the sleeve makes you CRAZY???
Lol, I haven't even had mine, it's scheduled for the 19th, and am already planning shopping trips into my mom's closet. She is a size 12-14 clothes horse and wouldn't know something was gone. She has started for me too. She has a pair of pants size 8/10 she said I could have because they don't fit her. Here i am in a size 20. Nah.... we aren't crazy, just ready.

Coolio, thanks everyone. I have been going over everything. I had taken myself off of everything to drink except water with some tea thrown in back in October, but I don't want to solely rely on water afterwards.
