  1. Just chew each bite to the consistency of applesauce.
  2. Welcome! I believe a great number of folks here have had WLS because they felt "they had no choice". It's an "if not now, then when" moment--at least it was for me. We are here for you--to support you on your chosen path . Whether it's to tell you of our own journey, or to answer any non-medical question--if we can. It's more than likely that you will be able to share an idea, recipe, a found Protein treasure, an experience or just chat with fellow WLS'. We welcome you and look forward to sharing the WLS world with you.
  3. I had to actually sit quietly by myself at mealtimes for a week or so when I first started on solid foods. I had to "relearn Sleevie speech". What I mean is my sleeve was trying to teach me when I was full. I just needed to pay close attention (with no distractions) to be able to learn. He either sends me a small burp or a hiccough. At first I ignored these clues and ate until I started to "feel full"--just like the ol' days. Big mistake! One should never ignore Sleevie's clues. He retaliates by "dumping". Sleevie's revenge!!! Once I patiently learned to listen to my body, I was able to pay attention to the little burp +/or the small hiccough and accept that I was full. ---and to my surprise, I was!
  4. I agree. Maybe you and your NUT need to have a conversation and "revamp and tweek" your diet/exercise regime. It might be something as simple as lack of sunshine. A lot of people get fatigued this time of year. Seasonal depression. Please, feel better and keep us posted. We care.
  5. For me, it's rice, Pasta, and any condiment that's sweet---ketchup, bar-b-q sauce, honey mustard, etc. Any bits of any of them are not part of my sleeve's idea of" good company", so an immediate "eviction" is to be expected.
  6. Starting to shift and make room for you on the "Losers' Bench". You got this!! Keep us posted. Valentina
  7. I truly hope you are praying the same for yourself. Every night.
  8. @ LipstickLady, I will pray for you that you may receive the peace of acceptance of all peoples and their mannerisms of idea and speech without feeling that you have to be abrasive to be able to share your own ideas and speech. God Bless you, Be healthy and happy, Valentina
  9. I believe you need to relax. Trust yourself and your journey, Miss Connecticut . Vigilance is a necessity, but obsessiveness is strength zapping. I put the word "RELAX" on my mirror in my bedroom. On the fridge I have the word "TRUST". Those are just for me. No one needs to know what they mean. My small gift to myself. You got this----you know it!!! Valentina
  10. I'd rather go surf fish'n!
  11. Wow! I thought I was the only one who no longer enjoyed going out to a restaurant. The fun is gone. I find myself restless, bored and wishing I was anywhere--doing something. I love my daughters and their families. They are my foundation of happiness right now. Sunday is my birthday and of course in the past we all have gone out to eat. This year, I found the "strength" to try to explain to them what I really wanted was for them to go as we have always done on Valentines' Day, but without me. Going and having a good time is gift enough for me. When they get home I can open my birthday gifts ( ) , and nibble a small piece of cake--after my grandsons blow out the candles. Maybe I'm being selfish and should go, but I know I'd be miserable. After all, it is Valentines' Day and my two daughters deserve a lovely dinner out with their hubbies. Anyway, thank you, Dubs for letting me know that it's not just me.
  12. I think I'll repost this. I believe some of you misread or misinterpreted what I wrote. I stand behind every word. Think about it, please.
  13. No corner standing going on here. I am stating my opinion of all of the discord here. There is no need for it. If you are honestly taking offense to anything I have said then I have made my points: Stand down, take a deep breath and enjoy the diversity, not the divisiveness. I will pray for you. Valentina
  14. "Weiner selfies"? I guess one has to be from the North East or into Politics to get this. Sorry. ("Weiner" as in Anthony Weiner, the former Representative from N.Y.. Although the other way fits too - pun intended). Bingo!
  15. I had a wee bit of popcorn during the game also. I put a Tblspoon of Nutritional Yeast on it (which added about 6g of protein) and it was ever so yummy!
  16. I blame it all on gravity!
  17. @@Kate M wow - i'm so glad I found you too!! welcome, welcome, and welcome 2 weeks after i was sleeved i was 58 years OLD i am now 60 years YOUNG so you are not such an old fart either i don't consider myself crazy either(usually ) have fun jumping though all the necessary hoops with insurance btw -i live in Syracuse - "kindof" close to Albany good luck on your way to a healthier, happier, longer life kathy Syracuse??? Why we're practically neighbors in a upstate NY kinda way! I used to show my poodles at the State Fair Grounds in Syracuse twice a year and I have two nephews who live in Liverpool. It's great to have a Buddy this close. It seems that most of the folks on BP are from the south or west. Anyway, I just wanted to say "Howdy", from The Catskills!!
  18. I know two women that had WLS in Albany, NY, but I think both of them went to Albany MED. How are you doing since your surgery? Do you live in the Albany area. I live in Stamford, NY and looking for a WLS friend close to home. Hope you are healthy and happy, Valentina
  19. "Weiner selfies"? I guess one has to be from the North East or into Politics to get this. Sorry.
  20. Dub, From everything I have read +/or seen, Weiner is far too obsessed with taking "selfies"...
  21. Isn't the whole point of bariatric surgery--self care??? Well, why don't we all get back to that central point? We share our ideas, our successes, our failures and our dreams. After that it is up to EACH one of us to cherry pick from other's statements and experiences and to apply or not apply those into our own lives-- SELF CARE. Please, stop already with the bitch slapping and start appreciating our different opinions. Valentina
  22. Well??????? We're waiting to hear from the "new and lesser" you. Each day is a step into the "new" you. You got this! Today is a tough one. It gets easier--- I promise. Valentina
  23. My worst: My S.O. committing suicide while I was having my surgery. My best: Being warmly welcomed back on Bariatric Pal after being gone for so long and being validated that John's suicide really wasn't my fault.
  24. Ladies! Do we need to get the Water hose to break this up? Please get down off of your hind legs and take a deep breath. Are we all hear to share, support, listen and learn? Even if we do not always agree with another's opinion, aren't we at the same time "learning" that we really DO believe in our own beliefs and the reasons why we do (or eat) what we do? I am a dairy farmer's daughter, so of course I eat red meat (I can and have slaughtered animals myself--such is the circle of life on a farm). I'm sure there are vegetarians who own leather shoes ,wallets, purses, or gloves, wear silk garments, have had sutures made of animal gut, or even had a flu shot--all of which comes from slaughtered animals. Yes, I loved cream in my coffee and butter on my home made bread. I am also severely allergic to all legumes--especially anything soy. Try balancing all of that with a successful post sleeve diet. But ya know what? I thoroughly enjoy reading how other's are coping with their up bringing, their day to day diet pre surgery, and how they are or are planning to adapt those eating habits for the "new life" of post bariatric surgery. Our minds should never be soo closed that there is no room for a new idea or thought. It may not prove to be right for you, but one can never be over informed. Be kind, patient, listen, absorb whatever will benefit you, and store the rest in the archives of your mind for a later discussion. Diversity is what this country is all about. We are all free to speak as we wish, worship as we wish, go where we wish and even eat what we wish---as long as we do no harm. I think that is a pretty good mantra to live by.
