    Gastric bypass

I had the mini gastri bypass 7 Mo’s ago at 68.
  2. I’m scheduled for MGP Nov 19. Can someone tell me the amount they spend monthly on the various vitamins, protein and mineral supplements I will on afterwards?

  4. Thanks for the reply. Yes, I am 68 so that may be why he only bypassed 35”. Don’t think it’s a big issue. But seemed way less than the norm so I have been curious. When I go back for my 6 mos visit in June I plan on asking the surgeon. Thanks for you info. Very helpful and reassuring.
  5. Thanks for putting down your progress again. I see you said your MGB was 220 cm although they are usually around 150cm. Mine is only 90 cm and I don’t understand why so short. Doesn’t seem like that is long enough to bypass all the part that absorbs the fat and calories, etc. wonder why he didn’t go further down to hook me up? Surgery was November 19, 2021. I be only lost 38 lbs, but have had Covid for last 2 weeks and my appetite is zero so haven’t been taking in the 60 grams of protein or the 64 oz. of water as I was… just had a new infusion of a newly released antibody so hopefully that will help get me well again.
  6. Had my mini gastric bypass on Nov 19th. As of today I am down 29 lbs. Is that average? Almost seems excessive. A pound a day…
  7. Developed a bladder infection this weekend with great pain and discomfort. Spent the day at a local urgent care clinic and was given a strong antibiotic to take twice a day. Will it absorb well and do their job with the new MGB?
  8. Think he said 90 cm.? Not sure. That’s 3 ft.
  9. Thanks! That is encouraging…

    Mini gastric bypass

Why are people attacking or judging something you admit you know nothing about? It is like a RNY gastric bypass with not 1 new attachment instead of 2. Less chance of leakage and other issues. Had mine on Nov 19th. Down 29 lbs. works just like the other one.
  12. Thanks so much for posting all this. I’m one of those rare “dudes” here who just had the MGB 3 weeks ago tomorrow. I’ve lost 23 lbs. that’s good I imagine. Go to Dr next week for my 1st post surgery appointment. ive been very confused as to how and what I can or should eat once I get through this initial 4 week post op period. lots of mixed messages on these forums so hearing it laid out by another guy is a big help. I would like to know that once you hit the weight that you should be at, I need to lose another 85 lbs or so, how do you “return to a more normal eating life” and not continue to lose weight? That make sense? as I go along this new road, I will contact you if I have issues but so far I e had none of the typical post op things most folks do. by the way, I am 68 so it’s never too late to change your life. Goal is to eliminate future orthopedic issues in the lower extremities. thanks again for all this.
  13. Since my bypass surgery Friday I have had an intense sore throat. May be swollen even. Hard and painful to swallow and very dry, very horse but that is subsiding. When does this Improve? Actually my throat is more painful and tough to deal with than the urgency itself and aftermath. Serious thick phlegm too…. Anyth8ng to relieve this pain and irritation?
  14. I’ve noticed my taste of certain things I used to like now taste bitter of quite different. Anyone else experience the same thing since surgery?
  15. 3 days out from bypass and am painfully bloated most of the time. Even get pain of my upper left shoulder. What over the counter drugs are permissible to eliminate or reduce it?

    Just beginning

Had my surgery this past Friday the 19th. Only issue is getting rid of the Co2 gas they blow you up with to do the surgery. Slow to get rid of it as it is not gas inside the digestive track. Toughest part is adjusting to only liquids these past few days and the small amounts. You’ll do fine.
  17. Just returned home today after surgery Friday. Aside from the 6 holes and internal goings on, it’s been smooth sailing. Just have to get a routine down of what to intake when…any help is greatly appreciated!
  18. Had my first “anything but water” but not enlightenment . No nausea at all . Just got a bowl of hot chicken broth. Could only take in half of it. Still in hospital and will hopefully be out tomorrow
  19. Scheduled for a mini gastric bypass this Friday, the 19th. Trying today to get a list together of everything I need as far as new foods and drinks so I can have it all in house by then. Confusing with so many different sites/people saying different things or mentioning different products. I would really appreciate any help or sites that kind of lay it out in simple terms. I've been given a lot of paperwork from the doctor and hospital and met with the hospital's bariatric person. Just ordered disposable medicine cups and case of Ensure Max Protein (suggested by Dr.'s PA) Also bought a bag of Bariatric Advantage Calcium Chews and Bariatric Fusion Multivitamins from them to start out on but will source out equivalent products that may be less expensive during my week off next week. Any tips or things to watch out for are welcome. Thanks in advance!
  20. Scheduled for a mini gastric bypass this Friday, the 19th. Trying today to get a list together of everything I need as far as new foods and drinks so I can have it all in house by then. Confusing with so many different sites saying different things or mentioning different products. I'm a single man and have to handle this alone and would really appreciate any help or sites that kind of lay it out in simple terms. I've been given alot of paprerwork from the doctor and hospital and met with the hospital's bariatric person. Guess how I feel afterwards will dictate what I drink the 1st few days or week, but still unsure of how often and what is allowed or suggested as a whole. Thanks in advance
  21. Nov 19th. Mini gastric bypass…

Newby full of anxiety and questions

Thanks! I will check them out and order one to start with. It'll be mid January before I can begin to eat regular foods, so I have plenty of time to learn.

    Pre-Op Today…

Sitting at hospital waiting on pre-op after having the same meeting earlier today with surgeon. Went over several pages of do’s and don’ts, the 1st week post op through week 3. So much structure and so many supplements and vitamins. Liquids for 3 weeks… A lot to “digest” (pardon the pun) at once. From the 19th till Jan 1 no chewable food. There goes Christmas along with Thanksgiving…🤣🤣

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

November 19th I’m having my lap band removed and replaced with the MGB. Trying to get me head right about the drastic change in foods I will be allowed especially the 1st couple of months. Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays are traditionally big eating holidays and will not be enjoying the feasts as before… I suppose I will have to clean out the pantry and fridge if unacceptable foods etc. any suggestions heading into this. I’m in Atlanta area if anyone is close let me know
