Wow. Dr.Aceves is so popular ....how did everyone discover who they were going to? We have a support place in Canada who has researched Dr.Pompa and it seems more Canadians go to her. But I will be so excited to hear everyones progress along the way!! Yeah September Sleeve Sisters!! Keep in touch everone!

I am off to Mexico... with Dr.Pompa I wish it was next week but I have a feeling the time will fly by, Im very busy up until then. And yes the more reading I can do on here until then helps me feel better about it, especially the whole Mexico thing, and talking to people going through or have been there done that. Definitely will look forward in keeping in touch!! Janice My skinny clothes are waiting for me!!!

Hi everyone... very exciting I am Sept 17th as well!! Determined1 where is your surgery and with who?? That would be cool if we were at the same place. I would definitly love to stay in touch with everyone!! Youre funny Christina, you will still be living when youre 50!! lol And I couldnt agree more (jealous of mellifrits) getting this done so young..... I wish I would have instead of doing the yo yo dieting for so long!! ohh wow, so how am I feeling, oh my gosh... every feeling in the world... at first i was worried about the surgery, now Im just worried what I need to wear at the hospital... Im scared, excited, not sure how my family is going to handle this one, and really happy reading everyones stories... Im like thank god I found this lol But yes youre right - the emotional side!! its a lot of changes, but the vertical sleeve will help make us more aware... I dont know whats its going to be like until we get to that point... do we go running instead of eating?? lol I dont know... Im hoping we have lots more energy and I seriously cant wait for the new me!! Im looking forward to watching your progress, feel free to add me as a friend, and I agree, the support on here is amazing!!! Good luck this week!!!!

What was your first step?
First mentioning weight loss surgery to my doctor, after doing research and finding out I wasnt qualified for Bypass nor wanting lapband... I thought it was over, then my friend mentioned the vertical sleeve.... next was talking to the company who will be supporting me down in Mexico and lots of research and then talking to my family Doctor ... who said go for it!! woohoo!!

Hi What a wonderful story, it made me smile... Im just the day before you... Sept 19th with Dr.Pompa in Mexico and I so thought the same thing at first, Mexico lol No way!! As if my doctor will approve this one lol. But after lots of research and lots or reading and this fantastic website, Im off to Mexico!! Ive ordered all my vitamins here too, I never thought Id have so many until I was 70 lol ... Im very excited though, 40 days to go!! We will be September sleeve sisters soon enough!!! Very exciting!!! But yes youre right, the hospital pjs and robe... argh!!! what to wear?! This might be a forum question!! I dont think I really have anything at this point ... thanks for posting and I look forward to staying in touch with everyone

I use to dive but have avoided it for years because of the weight gain, I hate bathing suits altogether at the moment lol. I plan on recertifying next Spring though and plan to hit the water lots next year!! Its the most amazing feeling you can have - its a whole different world under water!!

Way to go!!! I am very impressed with you losing so much weight already!! Im trying to quit old habits and Im doing it one step on a time, such as coffee, pop, carbs, Im hoping soon I will start eating smaller portions... are you on any specific plan right now? Atkins? smaller portions? We're just weeks apart in our surgeries, looking forward to being on the loser board with you!!

Mexico vs. USA
Im from Canada and my doctor had NO issues with me going to Mexico, she was very supportive and actually advocated with all the good work that actually happens in Mexico, I was quite surprised and very relieved!!

I hear you can only have a few bites after surgery for meals and youre full... but how are you suppose to get your water in the first few weeks? Just a curiousity quiestion, thanks!!!

Im going to Dr.Pompa .... $9800 but Im going with a companion with a support group here so its $10900 ... someone flys with me, shows me the ropes, and supports me while Im down there and flying back into Calgary. TJ Mexico

My VSG Story
Thanks Judy for the great story... I am looking at getting sleeved in September.... how was life for the first 6 months with your husband being able to eat what ever he wanted?? was it a hard change? or were you just turned off of food? what made it easier for you having meals with him?
