  1. Time-for-me!

    Hypothyroidism and me...

I am 3 months out of surgery and I was able to take my pill no problem before and after surgery. My Dr checked me last month and said nothing has changed and to continue taking my little pill... chances are we will always have an under-active thyroid, it's a problem with the gland itsself, and I don't think it's related to our food intake at all... darn it anyway!! LOL

    Meatza

You're welcome Sarah, I hope you enjoy it!! I know WE do!:thumbup1:

    Meatza

I wanted to say how SUPER YUMMY this pizza is!! I make it a couple of times a month and even my hubby loves it!! I make it with ground turkey, minced garlic and Italian Mrs Dash in the crust, and I use the rest of the ground turkey (scramble fried in a bit of PAM) along with minced mushrooms and red and yellow peppers and then I add some crushed pineapple on top of the light shredded mozza!! SOOOOO DELICIOUS!! ( I did find that my first attempt was quite dry, but when I used the whole little tin of pizza sauce on top of the crust (instead of just a couple of tablespoonfuls) with some light parmesan cheese, it was fantastic!) Highly recommend this one, and I feel like I'm eating pizza again!!

    One month out

Way to go Sarah! It REALLY does get better every day, pretty soon you will feel "normal" and the energy will come back! You are doing great!!
  5. Time-for-me!

    Normal????

Hi Sarah! I was severely fatigued for the first several weeks. I wanted to nap, but like you, work and family demands come first, then finally a chance to rest at about 8pm! After about 4 weeks I noticed it gradually getting better. I'm still tired by the end of the day but I'm up at 5:30, work at my job for 8 hours, and don't get a chance to relax until my 3 year old gets to bed at 8pm. :svengo: Just keep in mind that your body is healing, and trying to deal with functioning on FAR less fuel than it's used to!! Hang in there, it gets better!:001_smile:
  6. Hi Sarah! I have been wondering about you lately!! How did your surgery go! How are you doing? Fill me in girl! =)

  7. My Dr uses a 32... I'm down 40 lbs since Jan 11th... it's working for me!
  8. Hey Tiff!! You have done AMAZINGLY with your weight loss success! You appeared to be about the same size as I was pre-surgery, and I was wondering if you have had any issues with lose or hanging skin? You seem to be so far ahead in progress from most others on this board, so I wanted to ask someone who is experiencing it! I hope you don't mind sharing, I just am wondering what to expect! |Thanks! =)

  9. Hey there Kai! I see that you and I had our surgeries on the same day! You're already down 36 lbs?? That's AWESOME! I'm only 5 lbs behind you, but still, way to go!! I also notice you are a fellow Albertan, it's nice to have some Canadian perspective on these forums!

  10. OK, sorry if this is too much information BUT... I am almost exactly a month out of surgery... I had my period right before surgery (in fact it finished the day before my surgery) and I was due to have it again last week on Tuesday... it's now more than a week late, and I'M NEVER late! Nope, I'm not pregnant because I was following Dr's orders no sex for 4-5 weeks after surgery... so there's been none of that business going on!!:001_tongue: (my poor hubby!!) Just wondering if it's my body holding on to everything seeing as I've lost 30 lbs in a month... maybe my body thinks I'm starving and is trying to maintain/hold on to whatever it can?? Any other ladies experience this at all?:blushing:
  11. Haha, you're welcome! You're right I AM going to enjoy it while I can! I hit my first stall at the end of 2 weeks when I started mushies.. it lasted a week and a half and then it started moving again. THEN when I was expecting my period last week it stalled AGAIN for a week, it just started moving again yesterday... I STILL weigh myself every day though. It was TOTALLY frustrating not seeing any progress, but I just kept saying it WILL start up again, it WILL start up again! I figured it took me YEARS to put all this weight on, I should be more patient in trying to get it off!
  12. So Tiffy, did you get it at all during the first 2 months? I sure am looking forward to lighter and a day less!! That's ANOTHER perk to this surgery!!
  13. Time-for-me!

    I love water -- again!

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones too... I haven't stopped loving water! I drank it like CRAZY before surgery and now I still love it (nice and cold with ice cubes!) and I sip it all day long!:001_tongue:
  14. HI there!! I was just wondering how you are doing since your surgery? My Mom stopped in and visited you, but I was at the recovery house when you were having your sleeve done, so I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to meet! I hope you're doing well!!

  15. HI Cheryl! I was in TJ just about 2 weeks before you were... thanks for posting your experience with Dr Betancourt and Jerusalem Hospital, I'm sure that it will be helpful to a lot of people!

  16. Best decision I have ever made too!! I am less than a month out and I am down 27 lbs already!! WHEN has anyone ever been able to say THAT?? (Other than people who have had the sleeve that is!!)
  17. Hi Sarah! If you wrote something in our last PM today it didn't show up... just to let you know! All I saw at the bottom was your new signature, very nice BTW! =)

  18. Time-for-me!

    Any other Canadians out there?

OOOH, NOW I see it!! K, I'll meet you in there!

    Any other Canadians out there?

Thanks BigDD! I think it is a great start too!! I'm prepared for the stall because I've read so much about it, no worries, I KNOW it will come off after my body says "Hey, I guess she's NOT starving, OK I'll stop holding on to everything now!" :001_tongue: Uuuum, Nancy.... What chat room??? Hahaha! How can you tell I'm a newbie!!:confused1:

    Any other Canadians out there?

I didn't buy any extra insurance either, I just went with my out of country coverage through my work health care plan... I didn't need to use any of it anyway! Good luck on your journey! I'm 13 days out now and 24 lbs down, it's starting to slow a bit these past couple of days, I feel the dreaded week 3 stall coming on!!!
  21. HI Kai, I am 13 days out from my sleeve surgery, and I also live in Alberta! I found IsoFemme chocolate Protein powder at WalMart near the pharmacy area. It has 25g of protien, very low carbs and sugar, low calories and I found it tasted really yummy with skim milk or water! Unfortunately I went to get another container and they were sold out, so I tried costco. I found one called Kaizen 100% Whey Isolate, Decadent Chocolate. There was also one there (same brand) that was plain, unsweetened and unflavoured. I haven't tried the unflavoured plain one yet to say if it really is flavourless (cuz I just got them yesterday!), but I found the chocolate one to be good! Not QUITE as yummy as the IsoFemme from WalMart, but it'll do! The Kaizen ones have 35g of protien, 1g of carbs, and 150 cals per serving! SO there is a suggestion from a fellow Canadian sleever! Good luck! I too have been struggling to get in enough Water each day and have been feeling tired and weak too. I also bought a bunch more Vitamins yesterday so hopefully in taking those,it will pass for me too!

    Lentil Soup

WOW! I made this Soup last night and it was DELICIOUS!!! And super easy to make too! And my husband loved it too! I have to admit until last night I have been a hater of the lentils... but these boiled down to the consistency of a pea soup. Super mushy and delicious! I have to admit that it was SO yummy I ate too much, I think I had a bit more than 1/2 a cup and I was SOOOO full!:blushing: Great recipe Mom!:biggrin0:

    Any other Canadians out there?

Hello everyone - this is Jason - Alison's husband. Alison asked me to upload the pictures of her trip to TJ, but I'm not sure where to find them. Oh wait, I just checked and found that if you click on Alison's profile that her photo albums are right there. She's doing GREAT and she's lost 23 pounds so far! Aside from the fear I felt when she was gone for 6 days, I am very proud of her. She's a tough cookie just like her mom. I know how badly she wants to be able to enjoy life without worrying about health problems or feeling like shes a prisoner to food. So how did I feel about the whole thing? Well, it was very nerve wracking for me to let her go to Mexico. The 6 days she was gone seemed like forever. The biggest concern was if anything happened I couldn't be there for her. But now she's home and doing well. I'll tell her to get on here soon and keep everyone updated. Have a great night!
