cost of removal - selfpay in georgia

Allison- I have had a lot of problems with my band since I got it in March of 07. I am in Atlanta and having a tough time deciding to take it out or keep it. I'm like you, I just want to feel good again and not have keep going through all the poking and proding. I've had so many tests/procedures and now have a food phobia. I'm scared to eat anything that might get stuck....which is a lot of healthy foods. I just don't know what to do. I was self pay like you and hate to throw my money away, but I want to feel good again. Like you, my doctor is really good, but I'm in the 1% that this just hasn't worked for. I have lost 30lbs, but since having revision surgery in October, haven't lost anymore. My thoughts are that if I don't lose some more weight soon, then why do have the band?

    MaRcHiEs IN MaY

Hello Marchies. I don't write very often, but I read this post almost everyday. It is soo helpful and inspiring. Congrats to everyone on their successful journeys. Question? Saturday night I got this horrible pain in my chest and for the first time really had some stomach pain. I hadn't eaten anything out of the normal, but drank a margarita for the first time. Yesterday when I got up I tried to eat some grits, but couldn't even get 3 tablespoons in me. I eventually thru up and all that came up was clear liquid and BLOOD! It totally freaked me out, so I called my on-call Dr. and he said it was probably esophical tearing. I'm still really freaked out and was wondering if anyone else had experinced this? I go to the Dr. on Wed. for my first fill, so I'm hoping I can discuss it with my Dr. further then. Any insight or suggestions?

    Marchies In April

LoriPA- Awesome weight loss this week. I am on my 22 day out and am still only 10 pounds down. It's frustrating not have lost in the last week to 10 days, but I know I'm not gaining so that's a relief. Any tricks up your sleeve to what has helped you drop 6 pounds this week? Again Congratulations!!!

Also one other question. Now that the inflammation is down around the port I notice that when I bend over I feel the port. It doesn't hurt but it does feel like it is moving around. Anybody else noticing this? JSW- I also have this feeling. I still can't really bend down long enough to tie my shoes or shave my legs. Is the port 'akwardness' going to go away. I feel it everyday and wonder if it's always going to be so noticable to me or if it will finally find it place in my body and not be so akward feeling.
  5. Kat- I am 20 days post op and back on solids. I've been mostly eating soft stuff like mashed potatoes, veggies, fish, yogurt, pudding, etc. My question is at each sitting I am eating about 1 cup of food. Is this too much? I don't feel full at all when I eat, but boy within 5 minutes after I finish, I feel really full. I know I read where our pouch is only about 1/4 cup or will only hold 1/4 cup. But I can't imagine 3/4 cups of food a day is enough for our bodies. Can you or anyone provide some direction on how much total food I should be eating at meals? Thanks.

    Marchies In April

Hi. I'm a Marchie too. I was banded on March 22nd. I'm 18 days post op and feel better with everyday that passes. I finally got to start eating foods again on Friday. It has been awesome to add fish, eggs, and potatoes to my diet. However, I have had a soar in my mouth since I got home from surgery. It's almost like they nicked my gums with the breathing tube during surgery. Anyway, my teeth right about the soar have been hurting for 4 days now. I'm going to the dentist today, but just wondering if anyone else had experienced this.
