    Congratulations Nessa!!!
  2. Banded 3/17/04 - lost 125 to date. Currently my band has slipped. I will know in June whether I can keep this band. I have no fill but it still gives me some restriction.

    My Endoscopy Results 12/22/05

I'm sitting here not knowing what to say to you Lisa...and everyone going through this erosion nightmare. I am so so sorry. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I agree with you Lisa that everyone should have an edoscopy. I had an endoscopy 2 months ago. Unfortunately it was done by a moron. He told my doctor everything was fine and dandy. I have a new band doctor now and he said the endoscopy report was a waste of his time. My pouch is very dilated (not in the report). The GI doctor is not a fan of being banded. I do not have erosion but my band has slipped. They are going to give it some time and see if it moves back in the right spot, otherwise I will have surgery in the spring to reposition it. Everybody should listen to Lisa and if you already have the band, make sure you get an endoscopy. I had to ask for my endoscopy. We should not have to beg our doctors to order this test. These MX doctors need to be held accountable for all the pain and suffering they are causing. It is not like it is an isolated case. What has INAMED said about all this. Are they doing anything. They need to have answers for us.

    Another band slippage

Sorry to hear about your slip. I also am suffering from a slip. I see my band doctor on the 19th. They removed all my fill and although the radiologist said the band wasn't where it was supposed to be, he didn't think it completely slipped. My band doctor has asked me to get my films so he can see for himself, but the report he sent to my primary doctor was band slippage. I hope he can do something with it since I don't think my insurance will cover another band. I hope you get some good news!!!

Why did you choose the band over GB?

I was thrilled when I learned about the band. I have several family members and friends including my brother who have had the bypass only to gain back ALL their weight. One person I know lost over 100 with the bypass, got pregnant, had the baby and is now waiting to be banded. With all the risks and/or problems with the band, I would do it again in a heatbeat.

    I Have A Date!!!!

Congratulations Michelle. I guess you're getting an early holiday gift from your dr. That is great that he got you in so quick. I never had my last supper before my band. My doctor advised against it so I actually listened. I have not been to a buffet in almost 2 years.........I'm starting to get hungry just thinking about it.
  15. Hi Trish! I've had several hernia surgeries over the years. Most times they sent me home the same day. Only when I had multiple hernias did I stay longer. I don't think the pain was any worse than the band surgery. I ended up putting a pillow on my abdomen when i tried to get up. That seemed to help me with the pain. Good luck. I'll be thinking of you.

Back from Dr. Appt - EMPTY BAND!

I'm in the same boat as you Penni......no fill at all. It is scary......but I find I do have quite a bit a restriction still....but that might be to the upper part of my stomach being swollen. So glad that your preliminary report is good. We can do it though as far as controling our eating. No burgers for us......we've come too far. How about a big ol veggie burger on a bun or low carb bread with baked fries.

    Venting Thread - Erosion Anxiety

Boy oh boy this is not a good time for all of us. I thought my band had eroded or slipped. Last year y doctor decided he was no longer caring for his band patients, but since I was a patient of his for many years he kept me on as a band patient. He was sending me for fills and/or unfills to a radiologist who was not very familiar with bands. Fast forward to one month ago when he sent me for an esophogram because I was constantly PBing. I knew I had 1.5 in my band, but the radiologist told me there was only .3 in the band. He takes out the .3 and puts back .8. The noises coming from my stomach were ridiculous. I ended up going to my gastro doctor who scheduled me for an endoscopy (after he tells me if I ate like a normal person I would not need the band. He told me it's called portion control). I actually had Fluid pouring out of my noise when I slept. The band has not eroded but the upper part of my stomach is distended. He tells me the band is the cause of all the problems and tells my primary dr. the band should come out. I switch to a new band doctor last week who removed over 2cc from the band. I knew I had more fluid in my band then they said. My new dr. thinks the band has slipped. Turns out the band has not slipped. He told me if it slipped I would not be able to eat anything. The band is not where it should be and they are hoping that the top portion of my stomach will go back through the band. He wants to give it a month and see how it goes. They told me they might have to operate and reposition the band which he said is very difficult to do. I don't think my insurance co will pay for them to take out this band and put in another band. I am sick over this. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone.
