how do you over come a stall?
So i've basically been more or less the same weight for two months now and only losing 2lbs a month if i was lucky before that. i would see a little downward trend on the scale then bamn gone back to where i was. I'm not sure what to do at this point to change things up enough to make the weight drop off. I'll be honest food choices haven't been the best but over all i have stayed with in my calorie goal. i've even started taking classes in the gym to help with toning and strength so i'm working out 3/4 times a week if not more. i know my band could do with a fill i had to have some taken out as i got too tight. waiting till after my trip back home to Dublin before i do. as i don't want to risk having too tight a band while flying. what have others done to get past these stalls? i don't have a visit with the office until sep 30th so it's going to be tough going until then i'm really trying to track all i eat. and mostly i'm at the 1200 recommended cals a day feeling really down. had wanted to be at onderland for my trip home as it's scheduled on my one year bandniversary

Finding my Passion/Paying it Forward
@@JustWatchMe i too made a decision to give a little back. i used to be so much more involved in everything but as i got bigger an bigger i started to hide at home more and more. i'm taking a class tomorrow to become a certified digital literacy instructor for adults from impoverished area's - also looking at ways to start volunteering at my daughters school up till recently i would have avoided going to her school as i would ahve been worried that i embarrassed her with my size.

Need help
There are so many things that affect weight loss. i too feel like the weight loss has been so incredible slow.. however as TMF said anything is so much better than gaining.. and considering i was gaining anything between 5 and 10 lbs a month when i decided to take control of my life. I'm HAPPY with where i am. find and concentrate on what has already changed in your life. for me it's simple things like sitting with my feet up under me on the sofa to watch TV. this is a slow journey and you will be so much better healthier for it also. for me at almost 70 down so far don't have any trouble with skin not saying i wont eventually. i have been working on toning and building up the muscles which also impacts weight loss so keep the tape measure out and remind your self an inch lost is also a loss..

Shut down!
how utterly arrogant of your PCP i'm so gald you are already taking your life/fate in your own hands by finding some one else. best of luck the lapband has so so many positive impacts it is so worth it as are you

I need answers/help ASAP!
Mostly likely you will be just fine - however i highly recommend you review what your dr instructed you in regards to after surgery care was. most likely you should still be in the mushie stage but honestly every dr/facility is different so your may well have said chicken at this point is fine provideing you chew well and wait between bites. i remember well the hunger and frustration at this part of my journey and how easily it can be to become confused. just take is slow and follow the rules and you will be just fine. welcome to our crazy banded family

Seem to have lost my mojo…
@@MarieMarie i think you might be right. when i left home i was a very young 20 something 115lb mother of one. as the years have passed and the lbs added i have gone home less and less over the years and not done and seen as many folks as i should have. i have been so hung up on how i look that i didn't get to enjoy my visits as much as i should. but how does some one get past their own negative self image?

Seem to have lost my mojo…
Lately losing weight has been such a challenge. I seem to do everything right but yet the weight doesn't seem to want to drop.. I had great success in the initial months dropping 50Plus rapidly and then since jan almost another 20. Some would look at almost a 70lbs loss as a success.. I still see the obese woman when I look in the mirror. I managed to get myself well into the red zone don’t recommend that. – have had a slight un fill since then – feeling a lot better – but still making stupid food choices. Lately I find myself back where I was a year ago – I’ve been eating a lot lately.. Portion wise they are band safe.. But the frequency is alarming and the choice even more so. I can’t seem to find the energy I had at the start of this journey I’m not done yet. I’m not even half way there. I go home for the first time in 2 years in Sep. I wanted to be in wonderland. At 18lbs away you would think I could make it happen. But lately I’ve just gained. Not much but enough to turn the smile upside down. I know I’m not the only one that is struggling. Just looking for advise and interested in what others may have done to help restart the journey?

Should I get unfilled?
i agree with labwalker. please be careful with this with the weekend approaching. - i recently had a slight unfilled because i was too tight. i was able to pass liquids but when i drank anything cold i could feel the band get tight. I would try some warm fluids for now to stay hydrated but please call your office you should never feel like this (my opinion) bet of luck

What are you most proud of since wls? Or what are you striving for? Most memorable moment?
what am i most proud off.. reading this post and listing to you all many things popped through my head - mostly i'm proud of me for taking control of my life back. as i gained the weight i found every reason under the sun not to visit my family. and turned down amazing opportunities to travel with work. mostly it was because it required getting on a plane. and getting on a plane meant i had to suffer with the seat belt.. of hiding the fact it wasn't closed - since my surgery i have been to San Diego, San Francisco, Durango, Boston, New York, Tel Aviv.. but most importantly i have a flight scheduled for sep for Dublin to go home and visit my Family. This is what i'm proud of that i feel comfortable with how i look - i'm not even close to my ideal weight but i'm not that girl i was almost a year ago either. oh and i guess i'm proud of my new clothes my 16yr old shared she was so glad i didn't dress like i was her grandmother any more but rather more like her MUCH older big sister/young mom.. got to love those kids for the words of truth they don't mind sharing...

Go pubic at work or not?
that is a tough question and honestly it's only you that can really know the answer. you know your coworkers best. For me i'm pretty much a don't care what people think kind of person. one of the reasons i got to be a big as i was in the first place you could say.... i chose to share with the females in my group.. not really sure why at this point i haven't shared with the guys but for the most part after the first few weeks most have forgotten or just don't bring it up.. i figure they have more important things to worry about vs what i put in my mouth. I did share with my boss though - firstly because i trust and admire her.. and secondly not because she needed to know why i would be out on medical leave but so that she would understand going forward all the different appointments i would have to keep.. and if your like me there will be a lot of visits to get that Fill just right. I suggest starting small. pick one or two and see how that goes. no one needs to know everything in your life.

Any other September 2013 bandsters?
hi there perhaps you are actually too tight and need an unfill. if you are having trouble getting food down and turn to slider food this is why i ask about being tight. i would really discuss this with the dr office before getting a fill. I did the same thing. i was having issues but slider food went down way too easy so i had another small fill. that took me way into the red zone. even then i wasn't willing to consider an unfill until this last Monday when it just got to be way too much. At this point only time will tell if i had enough removed. just please be cautious with your fills. it wasn't untill after my slight fill that i realize how tight i really was and if i'm honest with my self eating all the wrong food. best of luck

Sad day - Not band related
I hope to never feel or imagine the complete feeling of despair that someone must feel moments before they end their life. For some one like Robin Williams to have had these moments in life fills me with such sadness. and reminds me that no matter how much you have in life we are in fact all human. if nothing else but this is learnt from this tragedy reach out to day in fact every day and touch some one.. it can be a brief moment in the hall a smile between strangers.. Hold the door open rather than letting it slam... continue to give advise freely with out judgement. RIP Robbin may you sing and laugh in heaven above.

Recent Unfill....
yes totally agree even those of us who are coming up on a year banded still need to heed the advise of dr's. thankfully for me there is no lasting harm but no one knows if it's the first time you vomit or that 650000 that can cuase trouble with your band.

Recent Unfill....
so i went in today after spending the weekend in misery.. and in all honesty if i'm honest with myself i've had some level of misery for quite some time. and should have had this unfilled done at my last appointment 2wks ago. I have been having acid re-flux/heartburn and stuck episodes almost every time i ate. life just about sucked. to make me feel better the amount of fofo coffee i consumed increased as the warm drink made my band feel better so the scale hasn't really moved. .... I wanted to wait it out. i wanted to see if i could figure this out myself.. Stupid.. I'm a little crazy.. but this morning enough was enough. let me tell you my dr office IS AMAZING i was in the office 2hrs after talking with them and that included the 40min drive to get there. I was seen right away had the unfill and barium swallow and at NO CHARGE... after discussing symptoms, causes and how long i'd felt the way i did we undid the last two fills and .4 cc's where removed from my band.. it was the weirdest feeling EVER it felt like my whole body sighed in relief it was like suddenly stress i didn't realize i had was gone. My point to this post is.. don't wait if you aren't happy and are struggling and even have the slightly thought you may be in the red zone. don't wait.. go visit the doc Right now i'm certainly glad i went i feel a lot more relaxed. yes i'm on liquids for 2/3 days so wont' really know if it has helped but the piece of mind and relaxed feeling i have right now.. SO worth it.

Problems swallowing
you wrote in your post "have no restriction right now" do you know for sure there is no Fluid? when i had my band placed there was actually 4cc of fluid in it at placement. it could be that there is fluid in there and it took you straight from yellow to red - i would call your dr and ask - explain what you are feeling they will tell you to come in if they feel you need it. when you eat how large a bite do you take. i had myself convinced i was eating small enough till i complained about stuck episodes at my last visit.. i was asked quite frankly how large a bite i took and if it was larger than the nail on my index finger it was too big.... and when i reflect honestly with myself. they are/where too big. that even though i felt like i was nibbling like a mouse and eating like a snail - i was consuming too much too fast. it really is a life adjustment and it's going to take time. you will do fine just call the doc

Do you see your progress?
absolutely yes.. i have a habit of buying "goal" clothes cute new shirts at what i think should be the next size down for me - lately i haven't done very good at that as it turns out when i get my goal shirts home and actually try them on they fit... which is a yea for me. but i can't seem to move past the habit of buying in a store without trying on. i didn't want to share in the past the horror of a 2xl not fitting.. now that i'm in a LG/XL i can't shake the habit. i also can't seem to take a compliment for what it is - rather than just smiling and saying thank you i end up challenging them. I really hope to move past this some day and see the loss in the mirror and the person i am now - rather than who i was.

Gaining slightly during a stall
i wouldn't worry about a small gain it's normal for your weight to change by 2 to 4 in one day - depends on what you eat, weather, time of month if your female, if the moon rose in the north if some one ran in a circle.. LoL. I have a HORRIBLE habit of weighing myself daily. i need to stop but my weight will go up and down in a given week.by a lot. Water retention is my biggest one. a tiny bit of extra salt in my diet can mean an extra 3lbs.

"My special food"
oh i get you. .i was almost in tears just last night.. i order certain foods online from home.. as you can't find them here in the US.. i went to have my self a planned treat and they where GONE... i was like WTF luckily my husband was not home as i had myself a little mini hissy fit right there in the pantry about how ungrateful every one is and who did he think he was eating my food he didn't even grow up over there.. etc..etc... i felt pretty stupid when done but heck a whole lot better also. they don't get it. they won't get it either unless they have to grow through what we are and i pray every day especially for my kids they never do. and most importantly kids will be kids and want what you have.. hopefully they will learn some healthy eating habbits from our changes and that moderation is always key

GREEN SALAD
like an earlier post i have my days where i can eat them no probs and others where it's just not going to happen.. I suggest trying one in the comfort of your own home but my NUT says a lot of folks have trouble but then every one is different just keep to the rules.. that is usually where i really have trouble.

almost 2 weeks post op.. a few questions
I know the urge to start eating more normally is probably driving you crazy but follow the doc's orders. if you are worried about eating in front of friends stick with things like Soups. my coworks know i've had the surgery but they still think i'm crazy when i order coffee as my drink when we go out. it just helps a lot to heat up that area when trying to eat out... and i usually get some Soup to go with it.. Considering it's been 114 here in AZ you can only imagine the looks. Also you did this surgery for you.. i know it's hard to not pay attention to other folks but honestly what they think shouldn't be important the key to this and all WLS is to follow the rules set up by your DR.. do that and you will be just fine. My port still hurts now and then at 10mts out. i think it's always going to remind me it's there. i kind of like it as it helps me behave

OK Girls.. what the heck is the story
Ok.. so here i am 64lbs give or take lighter than i was this time last year. so far so good. on track or so the Dr says. could i be lighter probably if i got may arse up and in the gym.. but what the heck is up with just trying to drop just ONE cup size??????? lol.. i would have thought by now that i would have seen some what of an improvement but nope nothing nada.. i mean i lost a few inches across the back but the cup size has not changed... Will it happen? how much longer do i have to weight? any tips for hurrying it along? or am i doomed to just suffer it didn't really use to bother me too much as they kind of well just blended in with the stomach but as that continues to disappear the girls are really noticeable now Please tell me i am not alone

Please help-losing weight before surgery
Wow what a tough situation to be in. the whole reason you want surgery is to lose weight but to be told to lose weight to have the surgery that has got to feel just darn right sinful. However. and you haven't mentioned which one you want and honestly it really doesn't matter as each one of them has rules that you have to follow - you can look at the next ~6mts as a trial run. can you live with a life changing event - do you want this bad enough to do what ever it takes? a lot of people look at surgery as the easy way out very few of them realize how much hard work is required. from the self discipline to behave. from lapband to bypass each of them require you to behave in an entirly new way. all i can suggest is start living life like you have already had the surgery - when your hungry fill up on Water. go for a walk, take up a new hobby but keep those hands busy. this site has been amazing for me thorugh the last year with the support from every one on here. when your feeling down and like you can't do it just come post here. no one will judge they will give you sometimes the cold hard truth i wish you the best of look and hope you find a way to feel positive about yourself and get to where you want to be.
