  1. Wow! I had lap band on Thursday morning and went back to work on Sunday night. I'm a labor and delivery nurse and went back to work full duty. Other than the gas pain and being tired ( whos not tired working night shift? Lol! ) I was fine. I probably could have takes a few more days but I didn't tell anyone, not even my boss. Everyone else was doing some kind of diet so no one really noticed I was on liquids and mushiness. Ha!
  2. Your nurse friends at work tell you that you have to buy new scrubs because your old baggy ones are embarrassing THEM!!!! Lol!
  3. You can change your profile pic on your phone by touching the pic. And you can add pics to your post after you open a thread there is a plus sign ( +) next to the send button. It opens a link to be able to add a photo from your camera or your stores pictures or from the web, etc. or at least that's how you do it on the iPhone. Hope this helps.
  4. I'm a night shift nurse banded 12/26/13. It's been a challenge on nights and finding things to eat. The cafeteria is not open and it's too easy to grab take out on the way to work. It's so hard when everyone else is snacking all night long, too. Protein shakes, nuts, beef jerkey and cheese sticks have been my friend! I've recently found Quest protein bars and I think I could go in debt ordering them online! I love the apple pie, lemon creme pie and chocolate peanut butter ones and I'm still trying all the other flavors. I have boiled eggs, chicken breasts with seasoning, egg salad, tuna salad, fajitas, chili, taco soup, anything I can make at home and use leaner meats. If I do drive thru I get chili at Jason's deli, steak fajita nachos and add black beans for extra protein, or Jimmy johns sandwich shop will make your sandwich wrapped in lettuce instead of bread. I've found that if a place is diabetic friendly I can make it band friendly.
  5. I have some and so far I love it. I've mixed it with juice and chocolate milk, both cold and it was good. I'm going to try oatmeal and fat free pudding, scrambled eggs, tuna salad and the list goes on. It mixes very well. I'm sold.
  6. OMG! My mother ( who is overweight ) is obsessed with my band! She wants to know what I've lost EVERY DAMN DAY! She watches every bite I eat! She constantly asks " can you eat that?" If I even cough or hiccup while eating she asks " are you gonna throw up?" I've tried telling her to get over it politely but she doesn't get it so I limit spending time with her to NOT meal times. It's crazy. No one else even pays attention. I wish she would get her own band! Lol!
  7. Thanks. I needed this reminder!
  8. I was banded 12/26/13 at True Results with Dr. B. And I've lost 45 lbs. I love everybody. I see the same pa almost every time. I guess that's a coincidence. Insurance is covering everything. Highly recommend. They work with my night shift schedule and get me in early so I can go after work and get right home to bed. ❤️
  9. Oh, I have 5 cc's in my band.
  10. All is well with the band. Swelling went down by day 2 after the vaccine. I did have my surgery with True Results and Dr. Benavides on 12/26. I'm down 38 lbs. yay!
  11. Help! I'm a nurse and I am starting a new job and had to get a tdap vaccine yesterday afternoon. Starting this morning everything I eat gets stuck! I've had my band three months and have never been stuck until today. Anybody ever hear of a relationship between vaccines and swelling causing this? If it keeps happening I'm calling my doc!

  13. I know True Results has support groups. There's one in Richardson. Just google for the number.
  14. Hey, I was banded 12/26 and I've lost 10 lbs. I lost most of that the first 2 weeks. went to get a fill last week and my np thought I needed to be eating more protein and drinking more. Being a nurse myself I reluctantly agreed. I'm still not losing any more but I feel better. Not as tired and I'm cleared for exercise. She suggested keeping a food diary to track portion sizes and proteins. Make sure you eat your proteins first and that you actually are eating enough. Good luck!
  15. Check with your doctor to make sure all is well. A heating pad on my back helped with the gas and shoulder pains and gas-x strips help too. Popsicles saved me.
  16. I was banded on the 26th too. How are you doing? I went straight home. My husband got me up every hour and made me walk around the house. He made me use my incentive spirometer and gave me pain meds around the clock for the first 24 hours. And I'm the nurse!!! I hated him and loved him for it!! Lol!!! I just wanted to curl up and sleep!
  17. I finally got my date! December 26!! What a Christmas present!! Can't wait, I am so ready!!

I make these up and put them in baggies in the freezer and they microwave in a minute and a half for breakfast to go!
  19. I'm to have 1-2 protein shakes a day and 1-2 lean meals a day. No fats. I can have green veggies and 1 cup of fruit. No carrots or bananas. I was shocked. I was expecting an all liquid diet. I got this!!
  20. Officially start my preop diet today! Yay! No surgery date but my office said to start diet so I would be ready to go when insurance approved. I'm aiming for dec 2.
  21. Hey Ladies, finished my four required appointments too. Waiting for final approval. Drs office said it could take 30-45 days but it usually takes 2-3 weeks. They told me to start my preop liquid diet this week so when we got approval they could schedule surgery right away!! Awesome! Good luck!
  22. Good luck!! It'll be me in a few weeks!!
  23. Great list guys! Just what I needed, too!
  24. My dietician said no Slimfast. One of the Lowest protein contents and one of the highest sugar contents. What's up with that??
