  1. I'm only a couple days away from surgery and I keep running this question over in my mind... When I finally get my band tightened and I'm eating solids, what foods are Bandsters' "secret tricks?" Like... what keeps you satisfied, isn't too high in calories, and doesn't tend to get stuck in the band? Thanks! Dara
  2. I'm definitely exhausted too... I'm getting a band the same day you are, Ana... been doing the liquids since 3/30. My doctor lets us have 2 cups of water-based veggies (like, not potatoes or corn) and as much broth as we want. I have been making soup for dinner out of these things... I take 2 cans of chicken broth and boil some chopped carrots, onion, and celery in it. Grind a litte black pepper over the top, and that's dinner. Definitely helps me sleep at night.
  3. It's so interesting to see what you guys are eating... I'm getting banded on Monday. So, let me get this clear (and I probably should review my pre-op info packet), is everyone generally sticking to CLEAR liquids after surgery? I've been making a list in my head of liquids I figure I'll have. Please tell me if you think I'm nuts: shakes from Myoplex & Slim Fast Butternut Squash Bisque & Creamy Tomato Soup from Trader Joe's Lime juice bars from Trader Joe's (no fruit chunks!) Crystal Lite/Water/Flat Soda Gravy Just kidding about the gravy. But does the rest sound ok? Or am I bonkers?
  4. Haha...thanks. My partner at work gave me that nickname. She's an Art Director... so I call her a Fart Director.
  5. Got the greenlight from CIGNA yesterday! Go under the knife on 4/9!! Can't wait!!!
  6. ACTUALLY... I just found out about an hour ago... I'VE BEEN APPROVED! The surgeon even bumped up my surgery date! I'm going under the knife next Monday!! I can't believe I'm having surgery in a WEEK!!! AGGH!!! YAY! :clap2:
  7. Did any of you find out you were approved for your surgery within the 2 weeks before your surgery? I'm still waiting... while on LIQUIDS!!!... hoping i get an answer on Monday or Tuesday!!
  8. 5 years? I haven't heard that. I'm currently going thru the process to get approved for my surgery (scheduled for 4/12). I was supposed to hear last week.. before I started liquids... However, Cigna is taking their sweet time. Basically, I applied back in November. They came back to me and said "weigh in with a professional for the next 6 mos. Then we'll talk." So, I weighed in with the nutritionist at NYU for 6 mos. Reapplied. Now I'm waiting. If they say "prove you've been overweight for the past 5 years," I could probably get them that info... but I'm really hoping they don't do that. Will let you know.
