  1. Hi, I only found this website a week ago but have found it so inspiring. I am day 7 of a 28 day pre-op diet before surgery on August 5th.
  2. Thank you all.. I have picked myself up today and strengthened my resolve to do this! Pre-op and post-op are going to be be tough, but I need to be tougher!! It is just a small amount of time in this long journey and the weight is starting to come off so yay!! You really ate all so inspiring and encouraging to us newbies! xx
  3. Thank you I can do this and I will do this!
  4. Thank you all sooo much. Your positive words have inspired me to start today with a strong resolve and will to do better because I deserve it and my family deserves it. I have to keep telling myself it is just 4 weeks, not forever. And this is a hurdle to get over to get to my goal. I really appreciate your support
  5. Hi all, day 4 of the pre-op and I have given into the cravings. I have just sabotaged my own surgery. Yesterday and today have been easier with the shakes but I had a horrible work day and was tired and stressed, so what did I do? Eat.. My pre-op is for 4 weeks so I'm hoping that if I toe the line for the next 3 1/2 weeks, my liver will be good to go. I'm telling myself to learn from this lesson by starting afresh tomorrow and forgive myself for my mistake. I know I am an emotional eater and medicate myself with food, but don't really know how to change that habit?...
  6. Congrats B-52! Your story is amazing and you've obviously worked hard to reach your goals
  7. Thank you overstuffed!
  8. I'm day 4 now and feeling stronger mentally and emotionally each day. The cravings are easing and I'm seeing some movement on the scales which is encouraging. Day 1 was hard, but day 2 was the worst! I just wanted to give up!
  9. SJP that's great news! It feels a bit more real once you start the pre-op diet. My biggest worry at the moment is my liver. I'm day 4 of the diet and it is getting easier but I'm really scared that my liver won't shrink enough and my surgery won't go ahead. Everyone on here seems to have had no problems with their liver so fingers crossed!
  10. I am finding the headaches really hard too.. And day 2 was the worst. I had no energy and just wanted to crawl into bed and go to sleep
  11. The more I read the more I'm discovering that the phase after getting the band is just as hard! And here I was thinking that pre-op was going to be the hardest!! Any suggestions or tips for post-op?
  12. All of your post-op stories are so encouraging and motivating to us pre-ops! I'm sure I will be saying in the future that this was the best thing I have ever done! I keep reminding myself that this is a journey and the hardest step is the first one. Nothing changes if nothing changes and I need to just take one step at a time
  13. That's my biggest fear at the moment... My liver!! My surgeon has said if the liver is still too big he won't do the op! I'm day 3 of the 4 week pre-op diet, and have managed to stick to it so far but am fighting the cravings and temptations and am sure I might slip up at some stage. A friend suggested taking those liver detox tablets for fatty livers to help my liver along.. Has anyone tried this?
  14. Lucky you! There seems to be some real inconsistencies with the surgeons and pre-op diets. Or maybe it's more about how much you have to lose and how big your liver is? Anyway it's exciting to have the date and know that our lives are going to change in such a positive way. I'm excited! It's been such a long wait..
  15. Congratulations!! You've obviously worked hard and deserve this great moment! I can't wait to buy regular sizes and not plus sizes!!
  16. Yes I'm August 6th!!! So I'm on day 3 of the pre-op phase that my surgeon wants me to do for a month- 3 shakes a day (can be replaced with the soups and bars) and 2 cups of green vege. Aghhhh!
  17. Thanks girls, I'm so happy I've found this site because I think I'm going to need the support!! The headaches are horrible, apparently it's from sugar and carb withdrawal. Day 3 and my headache today isn't as bad as yesterday so that's a good sign. The shakes are ok, but I'm surprised at what I'm craving. McDonald's and not chocolate! I just keep telling myself to take one day at a time...
  18. I am on day 2 of my pre-op diet and finding it soooo hard. 3 shakes and 2 cups of green vege a day. That's it for 4 weeks. I have waited for the surgery for so long and desperately want the band, but did not imagine how hard it would be physically and emotionally to get through this phase. I'm hoping that when the scales start showing some loss I might have more willpower.
