  1. I've been questioning the same thing. I had surgery on 12/10 and 2 days post op 9 pounds higher than my surgery weight. Now 4 days post op I'm still 3 pounds higher than surgery weight. Geez, I'm on Clear liquids ....
  2. I would like to try unflavored protein powder in soup but I'm not allowed to have creamed soups until mushy stage.
  3. I would welcome protein pills. The shakes make me sick
  4. Today I'm 3 days post op and having noticed a loud gurgling noise coming from my stomach after drinking liquids. After reading my info supplied by the nut I realized I was drinking too quickly so that's likely part of it. Just hoping that gurgling wasn't Water bubbling through a leak. I've slowed way down on my drinking ....
  5. Doing well, thank you. Sleeved on Dec 10 and the pain is gone for the most part. Feeling much better today than yesterday. I'm very happy about having 7 out of my 8 prescription meds discontinued and averaging 90 blood sugar in the morning. My challenge is getting through the next 2 weeks drinking this horrific shakes. Sampled 12 kinds and they all make me gag. Best of luck to your husband for continued success.
  6. 3 days post op and started shakes again. I hate them, all flavors, and don't know how I am going to get through the next 2 weeks.
  7. Thank you for your words of wisdom, as usual... Pain is much better now although I just took a pain pill.
  8. Glad to hear that all went well coach. I started the Protein Shakes today, which I hate but know they're important for my recovery . The pain seems to be much better today. Also, my prior meds were mostly discontinued but I've added a few new new ones . Tried taking a larger capsule and it went right down. Very happy about that. Rest up and continue recovering ...
  9. Best of luck to all of the December 13 sleevers. We're thinking of you ...
  10. Thanks everyone. So glad I have the knowledge of this forum to draw on to get some immediate feedback to ease my mind. I'm so paranoid about getting a leak ...
  11. I'm 3 days post-op and had a low grade fever 2 days post op (99.7) and have the same fever 3 days post op. While in the hospital they did a white count blood test, due to the fever, but it was normal. I'm still a little concerned. My doctor's instructions indicate that I should only call them if my fever exceeds 101. Anyone else have a post-op fever?
  12. Lots of well wishes for your surgery today Bremartus. I'm sure everything will go well ...
  13. Best of luck today AtlantaRed. We are all rooting for you ...
  14. I'm 3 days post op and had a low grade fever last night (99.7). Had the same fever in the hospital and they did a white blood count test which was normal. Still a little concerned about that. Anyone else have this? Also, I seem to be having more pain since I got home. I don't think the pain pills work as well as the IV pain meds. Tried taking 1 pill and couldn't tell, so I bumped up to 2 and I think I noticed but not as much as expected. My pain seems to be in my lower abdominal area, which I'm assuming is normal for this stage. How was your pain at this point?
  15. Home from the hospital and feeling pretty good. I don't want to jinx myself, but this wasn't as difficult as I was prepared for. Gas pains have not been an issue for me, although maybe that is the source of the bloated feeling in my abdomen. Next step is get through the next 3 weeks without a leek, but I'm optimistic. The surgeon said it went very smoothly. The guy before me ran into a few complications, I'm told. I plan to follow his instructions on drinking and walking and hopefully that will minimize my chance of getting a leak.
  16. Just got home from the hospital. Feeling a little pain, but not too bad. So far, this has not been as bad as I expected. Hopefully that will continue.
  17. Been drinking both hot and cold. My doctor said I'm taking in too much air when I swallow.
  18. Feeling a little better this morning. Had a low grade fever but that seems to be down. Having some ongoing pain but not severe. Pain meds take care of that. Hurts when I drink but I am drinking more today. Probably going home today
  19. 1 day out and feeling ok. Pain has been managed so I can't complain about that .having a little trouble drinking but forcing it down.
  20. I'm surprisingly calm thank you ... That may change.
  21. Thank you Sabredy. You'll do just fine. I was more nervous before today. I'm surprisingly calm .... for now.
  22. My surgery is scheduled for 1:30 pm today, but we're having a snow storm in New England so we'll be getting an early start. It's been a long road up to this point, but I feel very ready. My daughter was sobbing last night when she called from college and my wife is very worried, but I'm not as nervous as I expected to be. I feel confident that I've followed all of the instructions and am very comfortable with my surgeon, so it's time to remove 85% of my stomach and move on to the next phase of my life.
