Feel like I can eat wayyyy to much!

I agree uk, maybe it's because we had the band and we know what the restriction feels like. I really have to control how much I eat right now because I am not getting full on 1-2 ounces!
  2. I am a little over two weeks out and feel like I can eat way more than I am supposed to. Anyone else feel like this? I can eat almost any food.

    One Surgery or Two?

I had one surgery to remove the band and have the bypass. The doctor said the only reason to have two would depend on scar tissue or any other issues once he got in there. I would not want to go through two surgeries unless absolutely necessary. I have BCBS and had no issues with approval. Good luck and don't let them jerk you around!

Thanks for the replies! Will follow the doctors orders and hopefully I will soon see and feel a difference. I still have incision pain and a sharp pain in my left side. Doc said that's my "old stomach". Is this normal too?

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Just got back from post op appointment and cleared for blended food! I don't think I could take anymore sweet stuff. It grosses me out. Before surgery I loved crystal light, now I can' t stand it. Will this change?

    Smoking and Gastric Bypass

I smoked for 20 years. Quit off and on. Quit for 6 months when I had the band. Tried it all, patch, gum, chantix. Finally, I had my mind made up and tried chantix again. I stopped in February and used e-cigs occasionally if I had a few drinks. I'm done this time for good. I still have cravings but feel so much better! I can smell it on someone right away. I used to spray perfume thinking no one could smell it on me but now I know that nothing can mask that smell. I wish you the best of luck with stopping. I know how hard it is. But do it for you, you deserve to be healthy!

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Sorry to hear pumpkin. I hope you feel better soon! I never had a drain. Felt really good the first few days. I don't see how I'm gonna eat when the thought of food makes me sick! Go to doc on Wed for 1 week follow up. Thanks uk for the replies. I'm hanging in there.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

I thought that it could be dumping because the Tylenol has high fructose in it. But would that cause diarrhea all day? Won't be taking that again.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hi all, my surgery was 10/15. Came home on 10/16. All was good. Yesterday I had a massive headache and bought some Tylenol liquid pain reliever. I also tried a tiny bit of yogurt and tiny bit of strained cream soup. Well , all hell broke loose, I have had diarrhea all day today and have chills. Struggling to get my water down and the thought of anything else makes me gag. Help!

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Post op 3 days and feeling great. I still can't believe the difference with this surgery versus my band. This is so much easier! Off meds totally and doc says I can eat some cream of wheat tomorrow!

    gastric band to RNY revision

I had my band to bypass surgery on Tuesday. I only spent one night in the hospital. I had a pain pump and slept most of the time. I did walk as soon as they got me settled in my room. The only things I used were my own pillow, Chapstick, toothbrush, toothpaste and a hairbrush. I brought books and my iPad and never used them. I did watch tv a little. For me , this has been an easier recovery so far then when I had the band put in 6 years ago. Good luck and walk as soon as you can!
  15. Hi, I had my surgery yesterday. All went well and I am home from the hospital. Doc removed the band and port and did my bypass. I honestly have to say that for me this was easier than when I got the band 6 years ago. Yes I have some discomfort, but overall the surgery was great. I was up walking a few hours after they took me to my room. I was really scared and these forums helped so much. Thank you all for helping me get through this stage.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Mine is October 15th! Sending prayers and good thoughts to all!
  19. Hi UK, I currently have a lapband and have chose to revise to the bypass. My lapband has been causing issues and my doctor recommended having it removed, and left the choice up to me as far as the sleeve or bypass. Initially, I wanted the sleeve, mainly due to the malapbsorption issues with the bypass. However, in doing more research and talking to my surgeons, I have decided to do the bypass. I feel that there are too many similarities with the lapband and sleeve. I cant believe I need to go through weight loss surgery again! I really thought the lapband would be my final solution with my weight loss battle. I want the gold-standard in weight loss surgery and hope that I never need my stomach messed with again! Good luck with your final decision and your surgery. Mine is scheduled for October 15TH. Cant wait!

Looking for a buddy in DE

There are support groups here in Rehoboth and also Salisbury for Delmarva Bariatric. I have had a lapband for almost 6 years....lost around 90 lbs in the first two years...had some issues...gained 40 back. I am currently having my preop tests done and hope to have either the RNY or Sleeve in October. Still researching. So I'm not much help on those yet.

Looking for a buddy in DE

Hi, In am in Sussex county. I'm surpised there are no support groups in Kent! Obviously, we won't be able to work out together but I would be happy to talk.
  23. I know, it can be frustrating! I was leaning towards RNY, but now I am back to the sleeve again. The thought of having my insides re-routed makes me ill...however, having most of your stomach removed isn't a pleasant thought either. I just wanna be able to eat protein and veggies without throwing up and not be starving all the time!
  24. I understand how you feel! I loved my band at first (lost 90 lbs) gained back 40 over the last three years. Feel like I am starving sometimes I feel the same way, not sure if the sleeve will give me the "fullness" feeling. I'm so confused, going back and forth between the sleeve and the rny. Don't know what choice to make. Just scared of the whole damn thing again!

    Newbie

Hi, I am new here. I was banded in 2006, lost 90 lbs, was looking great at 180 lbs. Had some major life event changes, band was too tight, gained back almost 50 lbs over the years since. Doc recommending sleeve. I had a hard time after my band surgery, was in a lot of pain. Just wanted to know how you got through it and is the sleeve better than the band? Why, what are the differences. Were you in a lot of pain after band removal?Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I guess I'm scared!
