  1. I've never been a big soda drinker because I didn't like the carbonation. When I did drink a diet coke, I would take half the day to drink it and it would be flat before I finished. Now, if I crave the cola taste I mix some soda stream syrup in water. It's just flat soda from the start. I usually keep a bottle of this non carbonated soda in the fridge and my kids make fun of me that I don't use the machine to make my soda :-)
  2. I do love the soda stream though. The flavors are really good. I love the Dr. Pete.
  3. I'm back too :-) I've stayed away a little while, but it's time to get serious. I've lost a total of 40 so far, but should have lost more since June. The good news is, over thanksgiving and Christmas I haven't gained. I've just been simply sticking at 40. Time to get back on the losing track! Maybe we can get together to walk Kim, I still want to meet! :-)
  4. This may have been discussed before, but I've discovered the soda stream syrups. I bought my family a soda stream for Christmas, and was sad because I can no longer drink soda. But I realized that I can mix the diet coke syrup in the water without carbonating it and it's good! Just like flat soda, which I've never minded anyway :-) So, even if you don't want the machine you can buy the syrup and the bottles and mix up some yummy, flat, diet soda :-)
  5. I'm right behind you! 4 months today and I'm down about 37. After 3 fills I feel like I'm either there or almost there. I still feel like I can eat more than I should, but I do get stuck a lot easier. It usually happens within the first few bites then I realize I need to slow down :-) I have an appointment for a fill on Tuesday, but I'm going to postpone it a week. I can't decide if I want one or not. I'm going to make an effort to religiously measure my food and see if it's enough. Hope everyone is also doing well!
  6. Thanks all. I'm going to stop taking it and monitor my pressure closely while I see if the cough gets better. My doctor actually only prescribed 3 months worth as my pressure was getting better from the weight loss anyway. I only have one refill left. Sooo...I'll see if the cough gets better and see if my BP is lower at the same time :-) If it's not lower, I will definitely see him to get something else. And if the cough doesn't get better I will mention it to my surgeon at my next appointment. Thanks again for all the responses.
  7. It's just right now that it's bothering me. The fall brings Sam Adams Octoberfest and this is my Guinness time of year :-/
  8. I've had a chronic cough for a while now, and it's getting worse. I was worried that it was acid reflux, but I really have no heartburn. I just found out though, that my BP medication has a side effect of a dry hacking cough. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.
  9. I miss beer. That is all. Thanks for listening. Shelly
  10. It's awesome in a protein shake too.
  11. Just had my 3rd fill too and I think I'm finally getting to green as well. I can finally feel it slowing me down. I've had a few minor stuck episodes this week for the first time. Bread definitely didn't work anymore :-) I really have had to slow down and eat less, and that is good. Surgery was on June 13th and I'm down 35. I'm so happy I've done this! Way to go Junies!
  12. June 13th for me too and I've finally hit the 30lb mark (31 actually). I've had 2 fills for a total of 4ccs. I can still eat whatever I want and I have to watch my calories very closely. So far the band isn't slowing me down much. If I don't pay attention I find myself eating too fast and too much. I'm hoping one more fill will do it for me. I can't complain about 30lbs in 3 months though. Great job Junies!
  13. Thank you Hazel. I for one always sift through responses to find what you and select others have to say. As a newbie I have learned whose words to believe, but responses can be overwhelming at first.
  14. So, since I've posted this I've forgot to wear my UP every day. I remember in the morning, but it's not charged. So I say I'll charge it when I get home, then I forget :-( It's charging right now, and I'm committed to wearing it again. Please send user names so I can add you to my team. Or add me Shelly Olson.
  15. I take a shower with mine.
  16. Can you give me your user name? I can't search users by email.
  17. I too am a teacher and went back after 4 days. I felt fine. I followed my doctor's instructions to get up and moving and stay moving from day one. My family wasn't allowed to bring me anything (per my doctor), and that made a huge difference I think. Also, the most painful time for me was actually sitting and getting up or down. So, possibly being a teacher and on my feet all day was the reason it was easier. I know that occasionally I would take a break and sit down on those first days, but getting up and walking around was more comfortable. From my experience, I think not having a desk job is a plus in this situation. Good luck!
  18. Yay, yay, yay!!! For both of you :-)
  19. Hummus! Yummy and protein filled.
  20. So happy for you! But I have to say, since this victory actually involves a scale I'm not sure it can be qualified as a "non-scale" victory. It's literally a "scale" victory :-) Lol!
  21. Thanks for the app suggestion Stephanie, this is just what I need.
  22. All done! It didn't hurt at all. Now on liquids for 4 days :-(
  23. Going for my first fill today! Wish me luck.
  24. Jean, I've been reading your fabulous articles for a few months now and just realized you are the author of the awesome cookbook I have next to my reading chair! Not sure why I haven't made the connection sooner, but thank you for the great articles AND the delicious recipes :-)
