I was just telling someone the other day that I've spent 4 of the past 5 years NOT seeing my husband due to deployments/training, etc...so I'm used to this...one of our favorite Army wife mottos "sexually deprived for your freedom..." He has not and will not see any progress pics until I see him at his mid-tour leave. It will have been 9 months since he left and 7 months since I was banded. I'm really working toward a total of 75 pounds lost. Ambitious, but I'm motivated.
  2. Girl! That double chin is gone! Heck yes you can see the changes. You look fantastic! Great job!!!
  3. It was a breeze. My doctor is fantastic and the only one of the three bariatric surgeons at Ft. Campbell that is authorized to do lapband. I wonder if the process is different here. I never even heard a word about tricare authorization at all. They essentially told us in our first seminar that because we'd been referred by our PCM and met the "requirements" that we were set. The only thing that could have stopped it was the psych eval. Anyhow...I had a rough first few weeks after surgery because of the Vitamins. My body went on strike against them...basically dryheaving for hours/day. It took some figuring out, but once we got it pinpointed to the vitamins and I stopped taking them I haven't had a single problem since. I'm at about 6 weeks post op now and have dropped 25 pounds...just had my first fill on the 7th which also went great. So far I'm really glad I did this. I'm feeling optimistic about my "skinny" future. Yours is coming right up Royalrags! Good luck!
  4. Originally from Oregon, but currently living in Ft. Campbell, KY about an hour from Nashville.
  5. I have Tricare prime SW - I had to do multiple bloodtests for Vitamin levels/blood sugar, etc. I didn't have to do the diet either. I started the process with a referral from my PCM at the beginning of March and was banded April 24th. BTW...in the seminars that I went through there were people approved for lapband, sleeve, and gastric. At least at Fort Campbell there was no restriction on the type of surgery. I could have chosen any of the 3 that I wanted once my PCM referred me to bariatrics.
  6. I had the same experience with my first fill. I was expecting...I don't even know what...pain, discomfort. Isn't it a relief to find out that it brought neither!
  7. I hope you heal quickly and well!
  8. Welcome and good luck!

It will be nearly 7 months. Of course my hubby is deployed so its not like I have another option.
  10. I have no idea what might be happening with your knee, but I do think you should go see primary care if it still feels that way after a week or 10 days. This is great advice. If you start working it too early you could hurt it further...water exercise is smart.
  11. Oooh! I love rollercoasters! I've been too afraid to even try them for years. What a fantastic day you had and there is nothing better than the adoration of your children! Big thumbs up for this NSV!
  12. I'm at Ft. Campbell and had it done here on post in April. Anyone looking for local buddies?
  13. Way to go! I'd love that one-pot recipe from MrsInto if you can direct me to where it was posted? I've also just started the C25K and my only suggestion is to do each week as many times as you need to until you don't feel like you are going to die while running. It makes it so much easier and helps keep that motivation going instead of frustrating you because you aren't quite ready to move on to the next level...I'm going to end up with a 24 week program instead of 12 week program. :0)
  14. Big thumbs up! And I'll bet Hubs loved it too!
  15. Happy Bandiversary! Of course I have a stroller...and a baby backpack too! We can go anywhere! And we don't need to walk fast either We can find a good pace that works for both of us. Just getting out and moving is whats important and I'd love a friend to do this with too! I do get up early with the little ones...but we can meet you anytime...the only thing is this miserable heat. Its hard for me to be motivated mid-day to exercise when its 90 degrees outside and humid...we just came from Germany so we aren't used to this miserable heat yet. So...as long as we go by about 10AM or if thats too early for you maybe we plan an evening walk? Does that work better for you? By 6-6:30-ish its started to cool down... I will pass on your thoughts to hubby. We're so used to this separation at this point. I was adding up months the other day and in the past 5 years we've spend approximately a total of 1 year together...and thats not 12 months in a row...thats 12 months over the past 5 years. *sigh* It will be nice to have him home (next spring) and this time its supposed to be for a year or so!
  16. Create a meal plan and follow it. I find myself leaning toward fast food when I'm hungry...my kids are hollering because they are hungry and I have no plan. Two months is nothing. I say that because I'm at about two months also. This is HARD to change (in my case) 39 years of habits...Don't expect to break all your bad ones in just two months. Keep going! You can do this!!! Give yourself a second chance as your birthday present!
  17. Oh yay! Donna12 - I'm at Fort Campbell...I'd love to set up a monthly, bi-weekly or weekly hike/walk. I've got two little ones (ages 4 and 1) and hubby is deployed so they go pretty much everywhere with me...BUT, they/we travel well and we like adventures! it can be short or long...easy or hard...Whats your interest level? And Aviva! When you head into town be sure and ping me and we'll plan a get together!
  18. Looking for some local buddies! Thinking about a monthly meetup/hike/walk/chat? Anyone out there interested in a local buddy?
  19. Congrats on your 5k! I love the thumbs up your son gave you!
  20. Lol! That's an awesome NSV.
  21. I'm a newbie to the band, but my guess is that you need to go back to basics...protein first, veggies then fruit. Chew forever and take at least 20 min to eat. Drink your Water and cut out sweets...and if you haven't seen your doc for a checkup/fill maybe its time to do that too? You still look great...but I know that slippery slope of gaining! You can do it!
  22. Love this! It's got to feel good to have it be too big!
  23. Awesome story. You should be proud...it sounds like you have survived and conquered! What a strong woman you are.
  24. I love your 5k victory photo! Yay color run! Congratulations! You have accomplished an amazing thing!
