1. Hi, I am in the same boat with you - I was banded a year in January and have lost 70 lbs so far. I am just in a low where I lose 2 gain 2 etc. I need to get out there and start exercising - this is a must. Good luck with your goal - I am going to work really hard to get back on the wagon.

    5th Fill

I got my band on Jan 24, 2008- things have been going pretty well until now. On Monday I got my 5th fill. Since then I have only been able to keep liquids (coffee and protein drinks) down. I went to a Mexican restaurant on Wed with my son and just ate the cheese sauce off the enchiliada - right to the bathroom to throw everything up. Anything I try to eat comes up in matter of minutes - it is like it just stays in my throat / chest area. What am I doing wrong???? It is very frustrating!

    5th Fill

Ok, so if I just deal with the liquids for a while, how long will it take to become "untight". Just really don't want to get a un-fill!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I always believe it is better to be up front and open with my children. They know that I am unhappy being overweight. Three months after having my band - they can see a difference in my appearance plus with how much I can do that I couldn't do a couple months back. My 12 year old is also overweight and was upset in the beginning but is really supportive now that she has seen the changes in me. She is now watching what she eats!

    List your lapband confessions here.

:crying:Well today was my worse day since my lapband on Jan 24. I only drank about 20 oz of water - had ice cream, jelly beans and cereal. Don't know what happened but feel like I just slipped up and made bad choices today. Hopefully, I will sit at my desk tomorrow and drink a ton of liquids!!!!! I have my second fill a week from tomorrow and I think I am in a real need of it!

    Hi from TX!

Hi, I am from the DFW area - I just got my approval letter today from my insurance company. I will call Wednesday to get a surgury date.... can't wait!
  8.
Y has it taken a year for you to have your surgery? Just curious - I am also using Dr. Smith and I was denied and two and 1/2 weeks ago completed my 6 months of physician checks - now I am waiting for them to re-submit. Did you feel the doctor's office took alot of time to process?

    First Denial

Well today I got my first denial - I am very upset about it. I started this process in January, the paperwork was turned in on April 11. I called Friday (June 1) and it wasn't even in the system yet. I talked to the place where I am having it done and they said at least I now have a blueprint of what I need. One thing they require is a trial of a behavior modification program - anyone heard of that? Oh well, I will try to keep my chin up and see if I will have the surgury this year.

    First Denial

I am making monthly visits to the doctor so they can weight me. I have been 3 times so have 3 months to go. If you have great west, make sure that your request has been entered into the system. One of the problems I had was it sat there for like 3 months, I had to call for them to find it to enter the request into the system.

    First Denial

My insurance is great west - the letter from the insurance company i lacked the following: weight loss ; diet program for at least 6 mths within 2 yrs, monthly clinical from healthcare professional, trial of a behavior modification program, psychologial eval for this type of surgery, endocrine eval for obesity & post operative follow0up plan monthly for 6 months. I did have a psychologial eval for this so don't know what that is about.

    New - From TX

Can't wait to be banded...... From the DFW area, I had my consult in early February with Dr. Adam Smith, had my phyc eval and nutrition visit. I am waiting to hear from the doctor's office as to what the next step is, when they will submit to insurace company etc. I have Great-West Healthcare - anyone with any experience with them? Anyway, just can't wait until I have my surgury scheduled - at that point I will feel that I am actually doing something. How long does it generally take once you have submitted that to the office??? Any ideas? Sorry to have so many questions, but just feel that I am out here in space by my self!

    Dr. Adam Smith DFW, Texas

Has anyone had a hard time getting any information from their office? I have emailed several times to see if they have received my paperwork and haven't heard from them. I was wondering if they let you know when they file with the insurance or keep you updated?
