That's interesting--since this gal (to each her own) didn't think about weight loss surg until I told her mom (who is a good friend of mine) that I was looking into insurance authorization--then poof! I got approved and she had a surgery date--for RNY-- she is a three pack a day smoker, too.... I just couldn't figure out why someone would take those risks instead of the band.....

I have an aquaintance-type friend who recently decided to have RNY--i think the time between her decision to do it and actual surgery was about two weeks--she paid cash for it--no insurance authorization necessary---- Anyhoo---why would anyone want RNY over LapBand? I can't think of one reason! Wondering what your thoughts on this are....

I talked with the nurse today--surgery is scheduled for Sept. 2!!!! So excited!

Hi All, I am in the northwoods of Wisconsin--Florence County--up on the border of the Upper Penninsula of Michigan. I think they DO make plus sized Carharts--seeing as how my brother in law wears them! ha ha Anyhoo--now waiting for the phone to ring and window shopping--don't dare purchase anything YET! Told my mom and my fave brother--both very supportive--as well as my super husband--he's so thrilled to get a "new hot wife"---I cautioned him and told him to watch out, it'll still be cranky old me!

Taking a break from my shopping, ahem....hate to miss a good sale! How long for you guys between "approved" and "done"???? They said they will call me to schedule, but I don't know if that means "wait by the phone" or go live your life for three weeks...... PARALYZED with EXCITEMENT! Dacry--I will definately take you up on the shopping spree--Lord knows there is no shopping up here in the woods--unless you like Carharts! Dancing a fat, nekkid happy dance the likes have never been seen before!

WEll, I have to tell you all that I am MOSTLY excited about the potential for new clothes! I am so tired of my black, khaki or brown clothes--i never wear much color-- My passion in the summer is Lilly Pulitzer--no plus size there, so my goal is to buy some for NEXT summer and look as good as I will feel! I just bought a 2X Lilly-like shirt from Key West, but I need it for a party--my last fat summer party! I can't wait till next summer! New clothes, new bod! OMG! Laughing just thinking about what everyone will say!

I called those Nice folks at BCBS today--they said 'YES"! Oh my goodness! I am soooo excited! I have to go call my mom, but wanted you guys to know FIRST, since you have been holding my hand all this time! WOOHOOOO--my last fat happy dance! Kimberly

Somewhere, there is an insurance claims "decider" who this week will decide to approve or disapprove my request for the band. I am a nervous wreck! Please send telepathic "approve" thoughts to whoever this person is!

How many co-morbidities do you think I need to have to "please BXBS? I only have one--my letter was to the point and attached to it were all my reports, etc. Passed the psych test (amazingly!!) Had the sleep study--never so disappointed to learn I DON"T have sleep apnea...... So, there I am, hanging in the wind with my one co-morbidity. what do you guys think? Today I finished all the pre-requirements for my insurance authorization to start! I am so glad to be over this part of it! Now as Tom Petty once said, "the waiting is the hardest part"..... so, to amuse myself, I am wondering if any Lapbanders tried to guess what size they would be in what upcoming season so as to try to pre-purchase clothing? I am especially in love with VINTAGE fashions and there are a few I would like to finally fit into! any advice. Humor me, I am trying to stay calm and wait......(for authorization, not advice!) I have to catch up on my ready! Glad you are on the mend-- 105 degrees sounds terrible, however, it is about 50 degrees here today and I am longing for summer like you wouldn't believe--planning my son's swim party for his birthday and if it doesn't warm up soon, the Water will be too cold! So, I am bored today, too. Got called off work at 5am, so have been up since then doing my usual glamorous tasks--laundry, dishes--- Now I am ready for bed! We are dressed identically today! xoxox

Well, this is really ridiculous! Ate like crazy, and after two weeks, my BMI is 41.9! I can't believe I am happy about that! Here's to great pie!

Oh, forgot this--I have one fat, sassy cat named Kitty--pure white and smart as the dickens--LOVES my son and protects him like a dog would........ attached is a pix of son and husband. Hope it isn't too big!

Hi, I am Kimberly I live in the northwoods of Wisconsin (can you say "middle of NOWHERE??), I am 40 years old, have a peach of a guy for a husband and an "almost 5" year old son. My husband and I met thru my work--and we married 6 weeks later! Sometimes you just KNOW! I have yet to be banded--I am working with my insurance company to get all my ducks in a row for their preauthorization process, then hopefully, it will be "ready, set, go!" My BMI is currently 39.5, so I have to nudge it over 40 to make the ins. co. happy. eeeeee gads! If all goes as planned, will have ins. auth. by the end of summer and a surgery date shortly thereafter! Ever hopeful! xoxox Kimberly

You guys are so funny! I just made my pie--it is chilling--cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice and cherry pie filling on top. None of that fat free cream cheese, either! Wouldn't share a bite if you held a gun to my head! Off to look for cargo pants for quarters........
