  3. You've probaly read this but if It helps.. I hope you get some answers!! The vagus nerve helps to regulate the heart beat, control muscle movement, keep a person breathing, and to transmit a variety of chemicals through the body. It is also responsible for keeping the digestive tract in working order, contracting the muscles of the stomach and intestines to help process food, and sending back information about what is being digested and what the body is getting out of it. When the vagus nerve is stimulated, the response is often a reduction in heart-rate or breathing. In some cases, excessive stimulation can cause someone to have what is known as a vaso-vagal response, appearing to fall into a faint or coma because his or her heart rate and blood pressure drop so much. Selective stimulation of this nerve is also used in some medical treatment; vagus stimulation appears to benefit people who suffer from depression, for example, and it is also sometimes used to treat epilepsy. Most of the time, you don't notice the actions of the right and left vagus nerves, but you probably would notice if this nerve ceased to function as a result of disease or trauma, because the vagus nerve is one of the many vital nerves which keeps your body in working order. Without the functions of the vagus nerve, you would find it difficult to speak, breathe, or eat, and your heartbeat would become extremely irregular.
  4. Do what is comfortable for you, It doesn't matter if it's a Surgical Center OR A hospital..Just because it's a hospital doesn't mean it's going to be any more sterile then a surgical center, for anyone to suggest this is just ludicrous There isn't any guarantee that just because you go to the hospital that they will keep you overnight either that is between YOU and YOUR Surgeon. GOOD LUCK

3 out of 8 isn't bad Right?...I haven't ever been able to do a real push up, and with recent surgery on my elbow I won't be doing one anytime soon: I'm not a runner, I prefer to walk fast and far. And my Bikini days are gone forever (kids do that to ya) Oh yeah, and the dating part might upset my spouse just a tad...lol BUT I believe you can do this!!! beanie80 #8 is going to happen before you know it!! Keep us posted I'll be looking forward to all your 8 goals and achievements happening for you!
  8. Opps my bad must have been a typo ...lol Didn't realize age was a prerequisite for being a Troll since I've seen the term on here before. But as I mentioned before, If your a resident in Michigan and live under the great Mackinaw Bridge then your a TROLL.My parents are extremely PROUD of me Jean , but thanks for asking
  9. Yes.is is unfortunate that some people get a band and then become the Forum expert (only in their mind) don't want to hear anything negative . Then will say it must be something YOU did, because they know everything about bands. And lack empathy towards others I like being the Forum Troll. I like not living in the land of perfection. But I'm allot happier than you'll ever be. If anyone is looking for true support with your band check out facebook.....Allot less proclaimed bands experts there.
  10. WOW, that's really awesome. I love flowers and take pictures of them all the time, more than of people. When i'm on vacation family members will ask why no pictures of people? ...lol I tell them people are boring nature is prettier Thanks for sharing!!
  11. My nutritionist told me that it takes years for the Mind to catch up to the realization that your thinner. I believe this totally because I pass the Mirror each day and can see the WL but I still Think and Feel FAT. You've done and awesome job!! The idea of talking to someone that understands eating disorders is a great idea..........Think about why you thought being thinner would make you happy, was it because you'd be able to do more? The hardest part with or without WL is LOVING who you are on the inside first..It's a TOUGH first step, but you did this, I know you can get past that. HUGGS
  12. I like to think that If someone is in pain I feel Empathy for that person and will do all I can to help. Since being Banded in 09 I've researched allot online and gone to numerous sites that promote forums for the Band. But the Thing that occurs consistently is the Lack of compassion for others If your going through a tough time, or went through it, SHARE your experience, research, or humor ( it goes along way to heal) about that experience. The people needing help don't always know the right thing to do, or questions to ask. Maybe their Doctor wasn't "the Best", and who's to judge? Do any of us really know all their is about our Health care professionals, or about the band? No, I think Not. NO ONE PERSON has ALL the answers to LIFE or surgery Negativity only breeds MORE Negativity. If someone said, you may only post FACTS, your experience is then irrelevant, and Thus, there is No need for forums like this, because we would only be able to view "The Facts" as presented by the manufactures, doctors, scientists, and researchers and then must take that as Fact. I personally believe Life experiences are more fact based at times than anything else but that is just my opinion ( and Yes I know we all have one ) Unfortunately, it's not only online that compassion has been lost, society as a whole seems lacking as well.. I guess I'll continue to listen to the little voice inside that keeps saying "If you can't say anything nice Don't say anything at all" Because I don't know everything, ( I've yet to meet someone that does) and I surely don't know what the Other person is going through right now..so I wish them, and You Well......
  13. The doctors are favoring the band less not only because of the complications that previous studies have stated but because of the complications that they and other surgeons have experienced since banding people. And since the LB seems to have a higher rate of revision surgery that might be a deciding factor? JMHO
  14. THANKS JEAN !! THE FACTS WILL SET YOU FREE!! Or at least help you along your WL Journey
