  1. It all depends on your surgeon, they all have different ways of doing things.
  2. It's so that your liver isn't too heavy to push out of the way without damaging it. It sits right over the stomach. Also if yo have a hernia to repair, it will be right up there too. What kind of shakes do they have you on?
  3. If you absolutely have to. I would stop every hour or two to make sure to walk about 5-10 minutes at your own speed and make sure you have plenty of Water to drink. The pulmonary embolism is a danger if you are not moving regularly while your body is metabolizing the anesthesia. To combat this, walk at least 5-10 minutes every hour. It should say something like that in your discharge instructions.
  4. My wife eats popcorn, in moderation. She has been banded for over a year. It is just probably up to you and what your band will tolerate food wise. Nutritionally I would say that you shouldn't snack based upon what I have been told in my post-op care and weight loss materials I have been given. But you can make room for the calories if you just have to have it once in a while. I hope that kinda helps you.
  5. Wow... Housewares in the trash cans? Heh
  6. Yeah, no kidding my wife is banded and has had it for a year, so her year of aftercare that "came with" the surgery ran out. It's going to cost $240 for 6 visits. So I am thinking the year of aftercare is pretty much invaluable!
  7. I would do that but I am diabetic and have to watch the sugar and dairy intake, dairy has lactose which is another sugar that doesn't usually get listed in with the "sugars" nutrition category on the labels. Thanks everyone, my wife is looking at me every day and getting pissed... Lol, it's in a good way
  8. Okay, first off. I weighed in at 277lbs in my first consultation visit for getting the lap-band back in February. My pre-op weight was recorded as 256lbs on 03/20/2013. Today I stand at an official 243lbs. So that's where all those calories went that I didn't eat... Lol I had hernia repair during the lap-band placement. Apparently it was a considerable sized hernia. Took 2 stitches to close it up, got a pic if anyone wants to see... Haha So, I went from big gaping g hole around my esophagus to a nice tight form fitting hole and a band. Most of you know I have been having problems with pills, and various other things, even bigger gulps of Water have ended up PB'd. So I got 2cc more taken out so the hernia can heal and I can get some sort of comfort instead of feeling everything back up. I feel better already, the only drawback is the hunger. I am in sliders still for post-op diet and little or no restriction on the band. Jello just isn't cutting the hunger, may have to go to more substance. BTW that puts me at 8lbs from losing 100lbs from my heaviest of 335lbs. Also, my pants are too loose and try to fall off. They fit kinda tight before the pre-op diet.
  9. Dan, that's awesome to hear about the insulin!!
  10. I had a 14 day pre-op diet 3-5 shakes a day and 4-6 oz of lean Protein if I had to chew something. I drank Water earlier and it got my hunger to go down for a while, at least till lunch. I think I have been walking too much, stomach feels funny. Kinda like it doesn't like to jiggle anymore. Only way I can describe it.
  11. Well, surgery was 03/20 and I went back to work today. I am on stage 2 of my post-op diet which is sliders. This pudding and Soup just isn't cutting it. I am so freaking hungry!! My morning so far has been a cup of peppermint tea (waking the tight band up) at about 5:30am a pudding cup at 8am, and I am hungry again at 9:30. What's up with that! At least I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow morning, maybe they can shed some light on this. It doesn't help that I have to walk like 1/8 mile to the other end of the hanger to get parts. I'm going to log lots of leisure walking on MFP... Lol
  12. Yes, too big of a bite and that stuff is too thick to just swallow like that.
  13. That's a tremendous achievement in that period of time!! Hope you are out of the hospital and feeling better soon! Great job!
  14. Good luck! See you on the other side!
  15. It might have been my pharmacy that messed up. The nurse sounded surprised that I would have pills.
  16. Good job, keep it up!!
  17. I wish I had liquid prescriptions. I got a hydrocodone pill stuck on day 2 post-op and it was the worst feeling ever, had to get 1cc removed from the band.
  18. You guys are going to wake up before you know what happened. I hope you have a good experience with your surgery like I did. Just make sure they give you liquid prescriptions and listen to that band! It's kinda like a really quiet back seat driver that will smack the hell out of ya!!
  19. Actually I was banded on March 20th, so this is the first.
  20. I think you are correct, I crushed mine and put it in my shake, it gave me a huge head rush. My. Mother-in-law told me it was because it gets absorbed faster just in your mouth.
  21. Which Tylenol do you buy? Thinking about getting some just in case I need it.
