  11. I am doing self pay and I'm in Florida. I really can't wait to talk to the doctor and find out the procedure before surgery.
  12. Wow Kah! Even through self pay you had to go through that? That's rough. I are the doctor for the first time next Tuesday. I'm hoping to schedule the surgery fairly quickly after.
  13. Oh wow! I am having my first consult next Tuesday and I'm self pay as well. That is actually great news that the surgery could happen that quickly!

  15. I am a 25 year old woman who is 5'7 and I weigh 215 lbs. I am 33 BMI and all costs of surgery is not covered through my insurance so I am paying $9000 out of pocket. I was wondering if there is anyone else out there that has already gone through this and could give me some advice. I have been big my entire life and around 18 I started to yo-yo diet. I have been hearing from my doctor lately "your blood pressure is a little high" and that scares me. I'm too young. My great grandfather died from a heart attack, my grandfather died from a heart attack, my aunt had a heart attack and survived after open heart surgery and my mom has had two heart attacks. They were all related to obesity. To top it off both sides of my family are diabetics. I see a doctor on the 26th and I need to know what questions I should ask. Help?
  16. I hope so journey4me. My appointment isn't for 13 more days and I'm already anxious!
  17. Hey Warner, I am starting on the same journey and I will be paying out of pocket if I get approved for surgery. For everything it is $9,000 for the doctor I am seeing. I am 24 and 215lbs (I think) have you made an appointment yet?
