  1. THANK YOU FOR STARTING THIS THREAD!!! Yes, I have hypothyroid and was approved, but I also HAD diabeties, and elevated cholesterol. The Dr. took me off of all meds (except Levethroid) 2 months after surgery. :whoo: I had surgery May 2007 and I just hit the 40lbs mark. It has not been easy to get to this point, but I will not complain a lot because if I did not have the band, I probably would have gained 40lbs over the next year or two. I am soooooo happy I made this decision to get banded. It has been a true blessing to me. For all of you who have hypothyroid, any advice to speed up the wait loss.?
  2. I've been using coco butter, but switched to Mederma 2 days ago at a friends recommendation. She has absolutely beautiful skin, and says she uses Mederma whenever she gets a scrape or something.
  3. Raleigh, NC:whoo:
  4. Well, I decided to weigh in today because I felt so bloated, and I gained 2 lbs. I tried some mushy Indian lentil soup, and I guess it had weigh too much salt. Now my ankles are a little swollen and my pants are fitting. Everything begin to fit real loose......NOT TODAY!! :thinkI will try drinking A LOT of water the rest of the evening and tomorrow.
  5. .....so glad you feel better. My heart was breaking for you as I read your thread. I came online to ask a question, and this caught my eye and I decided to read. I'm glad I did. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do what you have to do to get well. Have you called the counselor who approved for you to have the surgery? Maybe you can talk to her/him also. I was just banded May 31st and my counsler made me sign an agreement to have 4 visits with her the first year after being banded. The wonderful thing about going to this therapist, she had weight loss surgery 8 years ago, and can relate to my struggles. I suggest you get in therapy, as well as continue to come to this AWESOME website for support. Please keep us posted on your progress. I pray you will not loose your band, but if you have to, YOUR LIFE is more important. BE ENCOURAGED!!!!
  6. Hi Everybody: I was banded on May 31st and I have not had ANY problems to day. I just began the mushy stage yesterday, and I'm having a difficult time eating enought. Unlike Fairerfry, I am NOT hungry at all, and I know I am not eating enough. I have to remind myself to eat. My Dietician recommends baby food meets. So for dinner I had Cream of Broccli Soup mixed with 1 tbls of mashed potatoes and Baby meat (looks like vienna sauages), and a small cup of applesause. I am SOOOOO FULL!!!! This stage is VERY CHALLINGING, because I HATE soft foods. I am a crunchy girl, but like everybody else, I refuse to get sick, so I follow the rules. Good luck!!!
  7. Although I Am Single And Celebit At This Time In My Life, One Of My Friends And I Had The Same Conversation The Other Day....if Rough Sex Could Cause The Port To Move Or The Band To Slip. I'll Check Back For The Answer If Any Of The Ole School Bandsters Have Any Advise. I Hope No Permenent Damage Was Done!!!!
  8. I had so many last suppers with my supportive friends, they asked when was the REAL Last Supper. The REAL Last Supper was Sunday before my surgery at Carrubus. But amazingly, I began to loose my appetite before the surgery, for fear I would gain weight. My surgery was on May 31st. My Dr. is very strict about not doing the surgery if you gain any weight. I actually gained 1/2 lb, but he SURPRISINGLY agreed to do the surgery anyway.:kiss So have your LAST SUPPERS :hungry: and enjoy every bit of it. I hope you will have as good of an experience as I have had in the past 11 days. Having this surgery has certainly been a Blessing!!!!
  9. .....Khalalia Ali (Muhammad Ali's daughter) "FIGHTING WEIGHT". It is her story of growing up as a fat child (me too), to a 325 lbs. adult, to being banded. Good Read for a Newbie!!!
  10. I was banded on May 31st, and the shoulder pain is the ONLY pain I have. I just came back from the doctor, and I've lost 15 lbs ins one week. I told him I lost that weight from only drinking liquids and walking like crazy. Just about every time my shoulder began to hurt, I would walk up and down my driveway. That is more times than I can count. Now 7 days later, I can say, it get's A LOT better, but it has not gone away completely. WALK......WALK......WALK!!!!!!
  11. Krystal: Your story is a TRUE INSPIRATION to me and so many others!!! I will begin my pre-op on May 1st. After joining lapbandtalk.com about 3+ weeks ago, I begin to think to myself, "dog, if I have to work this hard with the band, why can't I do it without the band." As I continue to read different threads, I realize more and more that having the band is just a small but very important part of the total equation. However, without the band, WE would probably be much larger than we already are. Only imagine where you would be if you did not have the band at all. Thanks for your HONESTY!!!!!! You were created by God for such a time as this!!! Your living has not and will not be in vain. You are a beautiful soul, preparing for a beautiful, HEALTHY, and fulfilling future!! I look forward to hearing more about your ongoing weight loss success. You will do well! Hugs, Joyful1
  12. Daffodil: I have one question, and it may seem like a silly question so forgive me now.....but WHY did you get banded if you were able to loose from 350 to 278 :clap2: before surgery. Why not keep doing what you were doing?:help: I have tried almost every thing in the universe to lose weight and last year when I tried LA-WL and only loss 10 lbs in 5 months, that I knew I need to think about something else. But if I had loss 70 lbs, I would not consider anything else.
  13. YOU LOOK MARVELOUS!!!! WOW!!!!!! I noticed you did not begin at a very high BMI. Did you exercise before you were banded? Not to steal anybody props, because EVERYONE has done a fantastic job, however, your photos are exceptional. :clap2: Do tell......HOW DID YOU TURN OUT THAT FIT.....EXERCISE???? TUMMY TUCK???? BREAST IMPLANTS??? GOOD GENES???? DO TELL PLEASE!!!!! I will be banded in May and I work out 3-4 days a week for 30+ minutes each session. I am much larger than you were before being banded, but if I can do something NOW to help later, please tell me. THANKS, Joyful1
  14. Rockn4u: How's it going? It has been 6 days since surgery, HOW'S IT GOING? I rec'd a letter from my Dr. and all of my pre-op testing is scheduled for May 1st, and the nurse said if all goes well, I will be scheduled for the 2nd or 3rd week in May. YIPPEE!!!!!!
  15. Thanks Alexandra!! I've seen your pics and you look great. Your response encourages me, because my thyroid is monitored often and is very stable also. Thanks A Bunch, Joyful1
  16. Shesa: I hope you are doing much better!!! I am still new to the website and I will be banded until May. Can you explain to me what PB is? I searched and searched trying to find out, but no luck. Thanks, Joyful1
  17. Thanks for responding. Any other thoughts about thyroid and being banded out there?
  18. I am 3 weeks new to lapbandtalk.com and I enjoy coming online everyday to view the threads. All of you have been a tremendous help and encouragement to me as I prepare to be banded in May 2007. THANK YOU!!!! I have searched and searched to see if anyone is talking about having thyroid problems. I have Hypothyroid which slows down my metablosim, and on a very low does of medication. I was wondering if anyone who has already been banded, have thyroid problems before being banded? If so, are you losing slowly, or it has not been a problem to lose weight since being banded? I am a little concern that if I am doing all I know to do not being banded, and I'm not loosing weight, if being banded will make a difference. HELP!!!!:help: Thanks, Joyful1
  19. I will keep in thought tomorrow as you have your procedure done. I don't believe in luck, but blessings. So Be Blessed and I look forward to hearing from you on the message board in a few days.
  20. Hi RockN4U: Thanks, that helped me prepare for my first visit tomorrow. How long from your first meeting with the doctor until now did you have to wait for surgery?
  21. Hi KCH: Congratulations on your surgery being NEXT WEEK!! :clap2: I have my first appointment with the Dr. tomorrow at 1:30 p.m.. I am excited and ready to move forward. Unlike you, I have developed some health problems. I feel great, but I have these things lurking in my temple, and I know that I have to do something about it before it gets out of hand. So how long from your first visit were you able to schedule the surgery?
