  1. Have you tried the Jello blender recipie? I vaguely remember it from when I was a kid. It had to do with whipping up 1/2 the pack of hello with milk & hot Water in a blender & then making the other 1/2 regular but you make 1/2 let it gel & then layer on the other 1/2. Gives the jello a different taste & texture.
  2. Hello Karina!!! I'm similar stats but a bit older 28. Anyways, welcome!!! I'm pre-op too stuck in the dreaded kaiser options program for 6 months before I get a final approval & referral to surgeon. I think the not knowing part is the worst bit. Anyways, just saying hai!
  3. - fit into the movie theater seats with someone on both sides. - shop at regular size clothes stores & not worry that they don't have my size or that it'll be not cute in a xxl. -wear the pretty sandals in the right size bc feet too fat to fit now -have more girly hands, fingers worthy of my amazing wedding ring -not have my husband or dad borrow my pants because they won't fit them in the future -chase my furbabies arounfld the yard with vigor -not have the belly interfere with driving/ sit in the correct position for both airbags & the pedals -stop being a slave to food & constantly looking for my next meal.
  4. Amanda-hope your feeling better & that this note finds you well. I enjoyed your pics on the other threads. Feel better soon chica! Rebeca
  5. Veggies. I hate them. Except for the fattening delicious ones ( corn, avocados, Beans, potatoe) How much/many/ often do you eat veggies or do/can you skip them & just have vitiamins or shakes?
  6. If you think about how this heal: inflammation to increase circulation , fever: heat on the area You can recreate this in doing a lotion of any kind, obviously you want good stuff in there but then the rubbing is so important as it increases the circulation to that area & creates heat which is good for waking up the area. I broke my coccyx & they used ultra sound massage to incease blood flow & warm the area & my butt never looked better! Same logic applies here, just like preggo ladies rub the lotion it goes both ways.
  7. Actually if you google about locks of love they have quite a racket going of # of usable ponytails in vs pony tails sold to offset costs vs #of wigs distributed to needy. I donated 12 inches to the Pantene beautiful lengths program which is their pro-bono wig program that they pay for the wigs to be made. You could if your hair isn't up to their requirements have your hair made into extensions. That you can have attached when your hair thins. I'd check with some of the african american salons as they have more experience & much better prices for that kind of thing. Also, in my state getting braids & weaves doesn't require a license so the cost is much much lower if you go to a braider type person & not a regular stylist.
  8. I just found out that you can go to a lawyer to help you get your denial appealed. The one office I was looking at said that they do that on every denied case because it's discrimination and they lay out the costs of not doing the surgery to the insurance company.
  9. In virginia it works like this: for the first week you must use all sick days you have & then get no pay for the missing days. Then for the second week you can use short term disability & get paid. Ask for the fmla papers for your doctor to fill out.
  10. Have you thought of trying the sodastream flavored syrups & flavorless protein powder?
  11. Ok real idea this time: Wlsappeals.com They're lawyers that help you get it approved. Even if your plan doesn't have bariactric coverage they can argue that it's discrimination to not offer coverage for specific diagnosis. They can also appeal for if you don't meet the numbers for eligibility. Not sure if you can do it on your own but an advocate is always a good idea. At least call & get a free consult or their data on your insurance & your odds for over turn
  12. Gonna get sooo flammed for this but : Ankle weights? Gain 15 + weights for the rest? Eat tons of salty food& take psuedophed right before your blood pressure test? Manipulate the test. Think of ur babies getting hit by a car, or other stressful situations during test? Eat sugary foods after midnight on the days of your glucose test. Hey- insurance wants to play- fight fire with fire! Not advocatibg this but, iit an option ifyou can still sleep at night knowing you gamed the system.
  13. Anyone get the baby bullet blender? I was looking at the infomercial late last nite & thought it may be good for puree phase & the ice cube tray is genius. Thoughts?
  14. Hey guys, came across the walden farms products while researching Protein drinks. Anybody tried them? They're zero cal , no sugar no fat : wondering if no flavor? They have salad dressings, dips etc. Just though I'd ask around before buying.
  15. Welcome Dee!!! I think you're me in 20 years if I didn't do this. ( in a not mean way) we have a lot of similar interests- brony, dorky former goth here!!!! Used to have pink hair. Still on my passport pic! I get a second look everytime I travel!
  16. Google weight loss advocates / lawyers. They can help you get the insurance to pay for it & sometimes just the threat of alawywr on side is enough. Be sure to get your pcp to document any rashes/ irritations or limits on ur daily activities such as want to bike but can't bc I can't bend at the hip due to skin. Sometimes the plastic surgeon will help by taking pics of the pannus hanging below the pubis or any range of motion limitations. They'll only pay usually for the pannus not a full tummy tuck. Though some people have gotten arms covered if they can document range of motion limitations or severe skin problems / fungus. Good luck!
  17. This happened to a coworker! They pulled him over for driving while hispanic, gave his info & he's lost about 60-80# and they accused him of giving a stolen license. They gave him a real ticket and said he had to prove his identity & get a new license. He went to court & won but man that cop must of been blind bc he still looks like himself just skinnier.
  18. Please find a good clinical team, you need the input of a variety of disciplines to get the best care results. Seizures aren't fun and can be quite dangerous if they occur in the wrong settings or so frequently that you have damage to other organ groups. (Like hitting your head on the way down, or breaking your wrist, I'm told that it can also be caused by ischemic attacks to the brain which is why they ordered all those imaging tests.) Hope you feel better and get a concrete answer, but sometimes the best answer they can give you is a honest I don't know, not helpful but at least they've leveled with you.
  19. I noticed that they don't have sample packets of the flavors only the huge tubs. anyone know where to get the Syntrax nectars in smaller quantities so I can try them out? Also, they had a oreo one that looked really good and a chocolate mint one too!
  20. Super jelly, congrats on a smooth sail. Hope it just gets better and better!
  21. I too am looking for the concave arm pit instead of the convex armpit. My arms actually don't go all the way flat on my sides because the armpit fat pushes them out. Caved in armpit is a "normal" looking armpit similar to a deodorant ad armpit minus the airbrushing. On a side note the Dove toning deodorant/anti persperant to help with the discoloration of the armpit does really really work! I alternate it with my regular secret nice smelling deodorant every other day and my arm pits are definately less dark colored.
  22. Hello, seems I'm a bit late to the party too. My name is Rebeca, I'm a pre-op kaiser permanente patient. I'll either have Dr. Salameh or Dr. Mayes over at the Virginia Hospital Center. Kaiser decides for you, or else I'd of gone with Dr. Mozzaze (spelling?) at Blue Point as I liked him and the Fair Oaks Hospital is much closer to my house. There is a Kaiser Permanente Support group next Tuesday the 26th at the Fair Oaks Kaiser that's free and open to anyone kaiser or not. I'll be there in a bright green dress if you want to say Hi! I friended as many DMV people as I could, so I'd have a lifeline if I needed it. Please accept? Thanks! Rebeca
  23. I'm Rebecasparkles on mfp! Add me too!
  24. I'm RebecaSparkles! Pre-op but still like to see what y'all are doing!
