  1. Haha yeah, I met him a couple of weeks ago. It was a blast!
  2. Yes, I love this site. Everyone seems very supportive! Thanks everyone:-)
  3. Thanks! I'm a little nervous but not too bad I think it's because I have a friend going through this whole process with me so it's making it a little easier.
  4. I just got a call from my surgeons office and made my first appointment to talk with the surgeon! I'm super excited. That's the best birthday present I could ask for today! :-)
  5. Oh wow Debbie thank you so much for all that info. Looks like I'll be going to that meeting April 9th! I thought they had to approve me before I went to a support group. So glad I found out before I waited forever. I'll definitely call tomorrow because I returned my paperwork about 2 weeks ago.
  6. No, I haven't been to a support group, but as soon as they call me and let me know my insurance approved the surgery I'm going to go.

  8. I am from the IV area and am waiting for my insurance to get approved. I had my bod pod about 2 weeks ago. I'm also getting my surgery done through OSF in Peoria what has been your experience? I haven't even meet with the surgeon yet so I'm very new at this whole process.
  9. Aren't you trying to just get a referral for surgery? I was scared my pcp wouldn't give me one because he's kind of old school but he did reluctantly give it to me. We had to go to an informational meeting here in Illinois and they told us we could get a referral from our gynecologist. Maybe you can call you're bariatric center and find out because I realize every place is different and has different policies. No need to apologize, you didn't sound condescending. I'm at the beginning stages of this whole process too so good luck on your journey!
  10. What about your gynecologist? Can he/she give you a referral?
  11. Thanks you guys have been really helpful. I've been lurking on this page for a while now and everyone seems very helpful and supportive.
  12. Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it. I have my seminar in about a week so I should be able to see my doctor before that. I already have a surgeon picked out but I doubt my doctor will know him, I'm from a very small town and have to drive an hour and a half to Chicago to get many surgery. :-)
  13. I was curious to all those that had to go to a seminar, did you guys go to your general practitioner and get your referral letter first or did you go to the seminar first?
