  5. so the carbs in the mash potatoes are ok for us?
  6. OMG I give props to all the veterans on this site.... I am day 3 preop diet and there is nothing easy about this whole process. I haven't even had surgery yet and I'm overwhelmed. I had to give up soda food and cigarettes all in one day.. I am doing better than I thought I would but surprisingly the hardest thing hasn't been the sodas or the food...it's the cigarettes. I can't figure out what to do in the car, house or the club... too much free time with my hands now. Tried the vaper e-cig and I didn't like it at all. Went today for my edg (endoclostomy) and they found a small hernia and several ulcers. I wasn't surprised by the hernia bcz I been having reflux but the ulcers did catch me off guard. Tomorrow is the last of all the preop test I have to do the blood work and then nothing left but surgery! Excited and actually surprising myself at how I've been able to stick with the liquid diet so far. I really want to prove to myself that I can do this. I already experience the awkwardness that I have read about on here when others are eating and you can't. I guess it's even harder for me because I don't have to eat but i'm used to smoking and now I have no vise. I already feel like a different person..
  7. Well it's official. My sleeve date is Feb 18th at Baylor Trophy Club in Fort Worth,TX. I am beginning my liquid diet tomorrow and praying for strength and discipline during the next two weeks. I know once i'm on the looser side hunger won't be such an issue. Giving up soda's, cigs and food .. just hoping i don't hurt nobody!!! Thanks for all of your support I am so excited to see the change-mentally and physically!
  8. Mine too around the 22nd who ur doctor
  9. Thanks for all the replies it makes me better..yes I get told that my 24 yr old son looks like he could b my man too..hopefully it stays that way..lol
  10. I had to wait for my enrollment to come up to so that i could change my insurance now i'm just waiting for surgery date. we will do just fine.. good luck
  11. Congrats! Looking forward to being on the losers bench with ya.. Surgery date pending (feb)
  12. Oh he actually told me that he couldn't commit to me that becz of my weight that he would cheat.. so at that point i decided he doesn't deserve me heavy or skinny.. so you're right that's on him.
  13. Thanks that what I think too. I thought at first he was just worried and didn't know how to express it but now it seems he may be "worried that i'll look better".. lol
  14. That's exactly the convo me myself and I had when i hung up the phone from insurance ppl. I have never made this big of a decision in my life but it's time I did something big and positive and change the direction my life is going in. Can't keep doing what you've been doing expected to get something different in return... right? lol
  15. good.. glad i'm not losing it.. really appreciate everyone support.. and yes I'm doing it for me and to offset the predicted genetics future that would be ahead of me if i don't do it. Everyone in my family is overweight with co-morbidities. I don't want to follow the same footsteps. and yeah being skinnier wouldn't hurt... "wink"..
  16. I'm not married but my "friend" has been giving me a real hard time telling me that i'm living a fairy tale that i'm not going to look good i'm going to look like a crack head and i'm just hoping he's wrong.. but i do know that my friend got gastric bypass and when he lost all his weight his confidence and ego went out the roof and he and his wife separated for a while till he got over it. I think it's an adjustment for you and your spouse and like the previous poster mentioned just take one issue at a time as they arise.. you'll be fine.
  17. Just got the call that I'm approved and I found myself having a little talk with myself. "You better not screw this up" "You better be serious about making this change" "You are doing this for you who cares what everyone else thinks".. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time.. just waiting for surgery date and pre op instructions now.. anyone else have this conversation with yourself before or did i accidentally pass the phych test and i'm really CRAZY? LOL
  18. thats awesome.. keep the pics coming!
  19. I have UHC also and they said 3days to 2weeks it was submitted on the 16th.. so fingers crossed...
  20. I think you look amazing! I am just beginning my journey but i have already realized that you can't make progress and feel good about yourself or anything you do if you are surrounded by negativity. I have a friend that is worried that if i become skinnier that i will treat her differently or become to good to hang out with her. My thoughts are if you are supportive then I don't care what I look like I don't turn my back on you. If you are negative, envious or jealous then I probably will be different. What's good for me may not be for you but if you truly care about me then your only concern should be at the end of the day if it makes me happy then you are happy. Too bad other people don't feel the same!
  21. I think everyones is a little different and depends on the insurance and place you have it done. In my case i had my preop and then they submitted the insurance and while waiting for the approval so far i have done my phych appt and nutrition apt. I'm currently waiting on approval but basically once they get it i get scheduled with the surgeon and within 4-7days i would have surgery.. so for me it's moving pretty quick. but it feels like the approval is taking forever.
  22. I struggle with the same issues. I have basically limited support and know that i am making one of the biggest decisions of my life alone. I haven't questioned my decision as much as I thought I would, i really have a peace about it. Like you said we did this to our selves and we're the only ones that can reverse it. Whether that is by means of surgery or if we had the discipline we wish we had by diet and exercise. My psych said it best when i asked her if she thought i was crazy for wanting to do this. She said, "I don't see anything wrong with someone who sees a problem and wants to fix it, especially when they are holding themselves accountable". Because at the end of the day we have to change what we been doing surgery or no surgery you won't get a different outcome.. Good luck!
