  1. Thank you for the responses!! Joy332, my issues are: cleaning the cat litter box and lifting up the pan after I sweep the floor can? I know that I cannot lift up anything >10 lbs for 6 weeks. I also have to make sure before surgery that I do not leave anything on the floor
  2. Hi! I have a practical question. I live alone and I would like to estimate how long will I need help with some house chores. Can anybody tell me when will I be able to bend down to pick up something from the floor? How many days after surgery? Thanks!
  3. Hi Rbmk, I think our pre-op diet is similar. I have to eat 2 shakes and 2 frozen meals, plus raw vegetables per day. Tonight, I slipped.. I was invited to a dinner party and I had 2 glasses of wine. At least it was not a whole bottle I am not happy about it.
  4. Hi Marimari, It sound like everything went well so far. I am happy for you. I hope you will feel better tomorrow. My big day is next week Thursday. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
  5. Wow Joy332! You will be one of the first in our group. Let us know how you are doing after the surgery.. At least you have less time to worry before
  6. Itching is a very good sign!! It means it is healing. (I formerly worked at a burn care unit) Just apply some cocobutter creme on the scar 2x a day when the bandage is off.
  7. I add instant decaff coffee (Nestle) to fat-free milk + vanilla flavored protein mix = it tastes like capuccino.
  8. Hi, I am scheduled for June 27th. I just started to 2nd week of the pre-op diet, which calls for 1000Cal/day and I can eat solid foods, like Lean Cuisine etc. Some people mention here that they eat only liquids as pre-op diet. (???) I hope I did not misunderstand my doctor.. How is your pre-op diet?
  9. The extracts are a good idea! I did not think of it. Yesterday, I bought 4 flavors of Crystal light, and Gatorade, a lot of diet green tea. I will check the cheesecake pudding mix next time. I have been using Truvia as sweetener, that seems to work for me.
  10. Marimari15, What I would like to suggest that you could try out some of the Protein shakes before the surgery. So that you get little bit used to them and to minimize the number of news things that happens to you. Since Monday, I put vanilla Protein shake into my luke warm coffee (if too hot, it curdles), mix it together and drink it as a cappucino.. I have also tried Advantage (Atkins)-chocolate drink ($4.00/4 bottles n Walmart, 17 g of protein) and it was surprisingly OK. I also started to use a weekly medicine organizer container for my Vitamins, so that it becomes a routine (otherwise I forget it). Any other suggestion from others how to prepare??
  11. Hi Marimari, I am also afraid of the pain and discomfort on the first 2 days but I just keep listening to those people and those posts who told me that the same day they started walking. Somebody even said that 3 days later he already went to a support meeting, which is like wow! he left the house after 3 days?? So, it must be bearable. WIll you have somebody with you in the house to help you? I just went to buy Gas X strips yesterday in CVS to be prepared for the gas issues..
  12. I am glad that there are several of us going through this in the same time. I hope we will cheer each other up Congratulations, Joy332!! I was not able to do the 1000 Cal diet exactly as it should be.
  13. Hi, My surgery date is June 27th. I was told that I will stay in the hospital one night. After I go home I will be alone and my neighbor will come and check on me daily. Are there any fellow candidates who has their surgery on the same week or so? I started the pre-op diet 3 days ago. I am getting used to the milk shakes in the morning. They are not so bad, but my pre-op diet is not perfect: unfortuntely I go over the 1000 by ~200 Cals but I hope improve it in a couple of days. I am worried about the pain during the first 2 days after surgery. How much am I going to be incapacitated?? Thanks!
